perfect opportunity for your artists to design an updated jem'hadar/dominion inspired 2410 bridge set. you guys have an opportunity that fans across the internet would jump at the chance to be even considered. to have their fan-art or trek-inspired extrapolated art make it into something "officially" trek.
yeah, yeah, i know cryptic doesn't like making bridges. because "no one spends time in them" blah, blah.
i mean, is this a star trek game or isn't it?
i would've loved to see a new dominion-inspired bridge set, for example. what would a jem'hadar strike ship bridge look like in 2410 without the budget constraints of a television series? what would a dominion-inspired jem'hadar dreadnought bridge look like for a ship that massive? would it actually have chairs, a viewscreen, how many stations would it have on their bridge?
But it differed a little bit because this ship is one of our favorites and we know how much you like it.
"The JHAS is the best ship ever and the players love it!"
:P
Seriously, I like these art blogs. Keep 'em coming. Also, I wish some of these concept variants were available as customization options. Not that I'm likely ever to get this ship, due to cost, but still.
There was Zero reason the JHSS needed to have the JHAS costume as a secondary option. This was a slap in the face. You could have designed any ship. There are dozens of canon ships that are still not in the game for players to use. Instead you decided to outright replace one of the most expensive ships in the game. This just demonstrates to me that you have Zero regard for you customers.
I wanted to take a moment to respond to the concerns over the blog text from last year that mentioned that the T5 JemHadar Attack Ship would be upgradable to T6 capability. That blog was originally written and released before the introduction of the concept of T5-U ships, so while we meant it could get upgraded to T5-U we couldnt outright mention this new type of ship at that time. When we released the chart that explained which ships would receive the free upgrade to T5-U, the JemHadar Attack Ship was listed among their ranks. We will be correcting the incorrect text from the original blog, and I would like to personally apologize for the misinformation.
I hope Ive helped to clear things up, and I will continue to work towards improving our communication with everyone in the community.

^ this is just insulting. I don't care how you choose to church it up. You went back on your word.
I don't know the Strike ship looks a little too similar to the Attack ship in my mind it doesn't really feel like a new ship.
Yeah, that's my feeling too. It looks like the JHAS but with more cartoony shinies on it.
Conversely, many of the concept renderings shown in the art blog look more convincingly like a new Jem'Hadar ship. Almost any of them would have been better, IMO.
It's funny how the last picture with the finished ship is called: Federation command ship.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
I'm glad that the decision fell for it to look almost the same as the JHAS. Regardless of what it was and represented in Star Trek, the bugship is kind of an icon and embodiment of the mix of rare and OP in STO - therefore I think it was important and I personally like that it's still a bugship and not something completely different (design wise) from the Dominion owen. STO needs it's bugship. heh
I do want one myself, but they're helluva hard to get.
If you compare the two bugs side by side the new strike ship looks like a plastic toy. Too smooth and shiny with little surface detail except the "decals" used on the glowy bits.

The original looks far superior to me.
Yep and the hard points they will fire from will look like someone is holding a phaser pistol out of a window lol.

I'm not real familiar with the original but I've seen it around. Looks kinda like a flying baked chicken.
For those with the original (honestly, I have to shamefully admit I didn't know the post wasn't about the original, eh) what's the gain between that one and this one (besides this being the T6)? Just curious. Cheers.
Please limit your commentary to the artwork of the ship, which is what the blog and this thread are about.
There are other threads if you care to complain about the JHAS not being upgradeable to T6.

Take OLD JHAS>copy/paste>make some small edits and call it "T6">make tons of money and tell those who owned the former model "Take it like a man...Best expansion EVER"
There are concept arts I do like even more than the ingame version. I guess that gives room for a t6u and t7 version. *searching for a cover shield*
Your sig is awesome. I've always wanted to see what the D'kora's interior looked like. Where did you get it? I'd like to see a bigger picture lol.
The first Belfast was commanded by Captain Ve'Kal Shon until its destruction in 2409. A new ship was commissioned bearing the same name and registry as special dispensation to then newly promoted Captain Edward XIII for his pivotal role during the renewed Dominion War.

You are aware that the JHSS can be reskinned to look exactly like the old JHAS, which is why many owners of the original JHAS feel slighted. The only other T6 ship to come close to this comparison to a T5 version is the Pathfinder, which has a much lower price tag (no raffle prize involved).
A new ship with sufficient differences from JHAS would have been a more acceptable ship than a recycle of the original T5 JHAS.
And yes, I do have a JHSS sitting in my bank still in its box.
As to the art, it does hold true to many of the design elements of the JHAS. Honestly, I think that was a bit of a mistake, as it adds yet another reason for owners of the T5-U JHAS to feel jilted by the release of the JHSS. I think a greater departure would have been easier to sell as something new and not a T6 version of the ship promised T6 capabilities... it is simply too "bug" not to be compared to the prior version of the "bugship" that came before.
Something closer to other Jem'Hadar ships, or the in-game versions of the Jem'Hadar Fighters, could have avoided some of the complaints by being able to see that this was truly a new ship. Allowing the JHSS to share the JHAS skin... not really helping the cause. :P
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
What I'm annoyed about is that: http://images-cdn.perfectworld.com/arc/1f/c6/1fc6ea12e0001b9b55e7b1a74a5ae45d1425943993.jpg
according to concepts 29, 30, 34, 35, one of the designers planned to finally make the impulse thrusters work properly and display trails as well.
But since it's just a copy-paste of the JHAS with just a new skin, +5 power to engines, a console, and 2 true universal stations, this good idea was dropped as well.
I think Cryptic designers did a good job for a tier 6 interpretation of the Jemhadar attack crafts. The final result also looks a lot better than some of the sketches seen in the blog.
The fact that one can mix and match old and new ship parts of the JHSS is also cool. Not that I bother, the new design is just awesome while still being truthfully to the original.
I always found it easy to imagine the Odyssey as official successor the Enterprise tradition because it simply has been well done.
Same counts for the JHAS->JHSS. You surely have some talented peeps in art department at Cryptic
who manage to uphold and expand that universe believable and beautifully.
Too bad that the remaining aspects of this game only remind me of Ferengi, Paklend and Undine.

That looks awesome!
Anyone want to give me a Temporal Heavy Dreadnought pack? I'll be your friend
I do want one myself, but they're helluva hard to get.
I miss the promised T6 upgrades for the old Jem Hadar attack Ships!
Greetz Siegfried
lol new? Thats the same ship model with the promised features for the t5 jhas
Only reason it can be called "new" is because this type of business is not done face to face.
The original looks far superior to me.

make em, and make em a Sci/tact ship.
Do it Now!
But Took the engine's in a bit they stick out too far.

They look like they could be a Jem'Hadar attack cruiser. Maybe some kind of Cruiser/escort hybrid. Could we have them?
We should call it the Jem'Hadar Censor-Ship.
This floored me. Well played, sir or madam.

Yeah, was a bit disapointed too about those trails that they didnt make it into the final product.
Also one more thing, a lil question for the art team: where would might be the landing gear now? At the old version, in "The 2800 trailer" (http://www.youtube.com/v/B5znfFotn0A?version=3&start=25&end=27&autoplay=0&hl=en_US&rel=0) and also in the winder event map (http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/sto.gamepedia.com/f/f5/Q%27s_Winter_Wonderland_ship.jpg), when the ship was landed, you can clearly see it.
