Pets self-docking in combat

I'm using a T5U Kar'Fi carrier with both hangars occupied by Advanced Fer'Jai Frigates.
The problem is that under combat circumstances, in Borg Disconnected especially, the frigates will fly up to my ship, and disappear as if they have docked. The hangars and Carrier Commands both continue to show that they are set to attack.
From this point, if I select dock for 15~ seconds and hit attack again, 0 - 4 may appear behind me.
Please let me know if any further information is needed.

this only happens on Borg Disconnected if I go left, and periodically through the rest of the game, but if I go left, I can't solo it as well because I lose my extra helpers.
