Today as most of you know a great Star Trek legend passed.
As a sign of respect we the playerbase assembled on Vulcan for a memorial service around the fountain (very good to see you there taco).
all in a line stood to attention, nice words being said...
AND then that troll, who i AM calling out for it Nbreeki@nabreeki, shows up and starts throwing disco balls everywhere and spamming aoe. I mean how ******* low do you need to be man?
Ill likely get a warning for naming you as the man who trolled a ******* memorial service but in this instance i do not care.
Truely DEPLORABLE! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Seriously? People are mourning the loss of an influential actor in game and he has to act this way? Man that is low.

I saw in zone chat they passed the info to a dev... Tacofangs. So maybe they'll hit 'em with a temp ban.

Ok, I've always been extremely pro-discoball, but even I think that was crossing a line.

    Highly disrespectful.

He's a tool and knows it. People decide to be respectful, but he has to go and upset the balance.. No surprise from him though.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

I realize that some cultures do have big parties for the wake, but I don't think it is right to push that onto others who work through their sadness in a different way. That REALLY would have been better kept to a private gathering of like-minded individuals where it would not involve impinging on others. :(

Some people are affected by loss differently.

You may see people whom acknowledge passing by celebrating life.

You will see others wanting to be solemn about the occasion.

And you will see those whom may actually not care, because Leonard Nimoy didn't affect them as much; he may just not have been part of their childhood like he was for those of us whom grew up on Star Trek from TOS, to TNG and onward.

I get that you want to feel outraged, and somehow protect the show of respect that people are showing... but Spock and Leonard Nimoy were about more than that. Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. I encourage you to be better people. Indulge the childishness and just focus on what matters: the fact that the people Nimoy inspired are gathering to respect him.

That guy with the disco ball... if he doesn't get it, then all he has is my pity. Because if he's not as affected, then he missed something truly great.

"they" are a culture of one. for one intent. and they slam dunked that troll to the floor. i wonder what would happen if EVERYONE in the forums decided to mock them :)

Also, don't recall anything covering disco balls in a populated zone as against TOS.

so by that logic its perfectly cool to rock up at a funeral with a mobile disco unit and force everyone to dance. You total scumbag. until now id thought of you as a harmless nobody, now youre just the sputum on the bottom of my shoe.

Do I think you deserve a ban/punishment. No, as you technically didn't do anything wrong in game per se...

But I DO think it was in VERY poor taste (I wasn't there, just read the thread here). To have you try and spin it some other way just shows the type of person you are behind your game/forum handle.

There's no need for name calling like that, groom. What he did was unacceptable, but it doesn't warrant raging or getting yourself banned.

Na... He is the one that always takes cryptics side...

They will probably give him a medal.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Suggestion to Cryptic. Perhaps we could have a temporary disabling of the disco balls until after Mr Nimoy's funeral? Then the children can play if they must.

(to those "special" people) I believe a wise man once said "you are the virus and we are the cure". everyone will be gathering the names of you and your ilk and ignoring them, you will have no place here, and no harbor.

Not to be defending insensitivity, but in some cases where it is according to the wishes of the deceased (it is my own wish that mostly upbeat worship music be played with a full rock band at my funeral, after seeing this at someone else's service and deciding that was the way I want to go), or if some people want to gather for a private wake, I think it could in theory be OK.

My only problem comes with foisting that on others *without* the explicit wish of the deceased that their life be celebrated in such a manner.

Youre right, and i totally agree. If you know my forums postings I've largely been neutral and friendly, I have never called anyone out, or name called anyone. But this made me so angry.
You are right though Captainoblivious, I should not be flaming or name calling.

I would ask that it be kept to a private instance so it did not disturb others, and I would not engage in that sort of behavior where it was clearly not wanted.
