Romulans get 5 space traits with their DR intel officers while Klinks and Feds get 2. Add in the Hierarchy from DR and that's 7 between 4 BoFFs. Outside of Porkins, Feds and Klinks can only muster 1 and they really aren't very good. Efficient used to be but not really necessary now. Also, they only come or certain species, which is my issue.
Give us he ability to pick and choose traits on our Boffs. I'm guessing 99.999999999999% of the bridge crews in STO have Romulan Tac Officers, Some sort of Borg Engineer and Science Officer or odd Nausicaan (which may have changed with the Vulcan Intel and Hierarchy BoFF). There is no reason why most of the species in STO should not have some space traits.
Some races are absolutley pointless even on an away team. Pakled or Tellerite Ring a bell? Yea, they may be ok but there is another that does the job better. If you want a tank, the JH, Klingon, or Rigelian are hard to beat. Betazoid is by far the best science healer. Threat Reduction and Superior Creativity are not found on any other race. Klingons with Warrior and Honerable make them among the best Tac ground officers.
Now I'm not saying everyone needs to have Operaive but there needs to be more variety.
I would personally be happy if they just allowed us to use the Genetic Resequencers on Boffs.
Just code in a reduced bonus when used on Boffs instead of the player, so that you can still stack it (alongside the Player), but it won't be too potent (with stacking of about 5 Boffs roughly equaling a player equipped with the trait).
You are free to visit the embassy and get yourself some Romulan boffs. They don't have the cloaking buff but seeing as feds don't have battle cloaks who cares.
Besides Feds get the best ship traits and are likely to always have more options there.
I'd like to be able to get trait PADDs or genetic sequences for my boffs, so that I could use the races I want to without giving up power or DPS.
Why can't I have a Vulcan science officer who is efficient, or is good at spotting weaknesses of enemies (+Crit)?
For my Klingon's crew, why do I need a Nausican? Klingons have always been raiders (= pirate) too. Look at the doff missions for KDF, it's Marauding not Diplomacy.
Cryptic is missing the chance to make some dil / zen off of me by revamping the doff trait system to allow this.

Only tactical officers from the embassy grant the (fairly massive) Romulan Operative crit and critical damage bonus trait. The rest give the Subterfuge cloak trait, which is obviously pretty useless in most cases on a Fed character.
I don't care how much they buff Romulans, I refuse to play a granola munching, tree hugging, space elf.
I really don't know where you got that picture...
However I agree with the op.... For a romulan its Prety much standard to fly arround with a full setup of space trait officers.
The others.... Not so much...

Yup, I have 5 SRO/RO scattered amongst 3 fed chars. But like the above poster said, you only get them in Tac Flavor, not to mention they're Romulan, I want more variety. With a ship crew you are pigeon holed between Humans, Romulans , A Vulcan Intel, Porkins if you've finished DR, Saurians, a Naussicaan(Diplomacy) and a couple Borg.

At the very least it would be nice for all boff Traits to come in Basic/Superior versions in addition to the standard ones. Limiting the stacks of any given Trait to (captain Trait + highest quality boff Trait) would be even better as far as balance, but would aggravate those that had spend time grinding out their crew of SRO's...
The Trait PADDs are an interesting idea, too, as is the Boff Genetic Resequencer... though the latter probably violates Federation law and Klingon sensibilities in general, given the history both have with genetic tampering. Come to think of it, how do our captains even get away with tampering with out genomes? Maybe if they were only usable by the same Species it would work, or Species that have access to the given Trait in their list...?
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

Wouldn't those be Vulcans and not Romulans. Fried Epohh goes so well with Romulan Ale. Food is just one of the many uses of Epohhs on New Romulus. Other uses include construction material, fuel source, and radiation shielding. The Romulan Embassy is made out of Epohhs.
I did and the romulan boff's as part of the romulan experience make perfect sense - they are all tac ships. there's nothing to tank with and you have 2 sci ships.
The romulans are tac oriented and that's fairly reasonable within lore and within current gameplay as it justifies having a difference between the factions something eroded by the fed whining for everything the other side has.
mentioning the KDF in his post seems to be a smokescreen to garner more sympathy.
I don't mind the KDF getting more boff traits to augment their playstyle but the feds have everything to choose from already without much loss.

I just want some variation in my crew. I 'grew up' with a set of BOffs if you will - I want to keep using them.
Except they suck compared to Romulans and other very specific species.

Given the lack of t6 Raiders we don't really have battlecloak either...
Those are the Vulcans, wrong species there mate, but very close
And a merry freaking Christmas to you too, Ebenezer.

Seems someone didn't read the actual post.

Feds can't slot 5 of those. 3, tops; but realistically usually only 2.
Phantom has regular cloak, though. Ambush works on that too.
Reciprocity makes up for a lot, this is true.
