olessius, can you tell me if in the process of mixmatching the variants of these in the shipyard it can happen for some variations to completely lose the windows? I don't own any yet, but I've heard some rumors and that's why I'm asking this.
Oh, and also I wouldn't say these are not Klingon ships - I tend to see them as an design evolution in terms of the heavy battlecruiser like in the KDF.

That bug is caused by the Klinzhai nacelles. If you just avoid putting those on your ship you'll be good to go. I've yet to take my ship out of the customizer with them on, though, so I don't know how permanent the bug is.
And that statement might've been a bit hyperbolic, but after really having looked at the designs of some of the canonical ships, it's just a feeling that I can't quite shake. Part of the problem lies in the ships' texture, and part of the problem lies in the design of the stanchions, which simply aren't wing-like enough. I also don't feel that the ships give off that almost animalistic vibe that you're supposed to get from a proper Klingon ship. They mainly just look like massive warships, which is cool, but... y'know, I guess it becomes a matter of "close but no cigar" (or as we say here in Sweden, "n
I have decided to get the pack. Hopefully I don't just end up running every piece of the tac variant. lol Since only reason I'm paying the extra $30 is for Kitbashing. Would hate myself paying $30 and then find a cool look in the editor and going "DOH!"
So, Whatever Kitbash I end up with Ill take pics and post them in Various Shields. I can't hold back no more, I want to fly this thing.
Thanks for for posting those images. There are definitely design cues taken from the Starcraft ship but in my opinion the form of the Bortas'qu is still a fundamentally Klingon one;
a)twin nacelles
b)hull tapering to a narrow neck
c)command deck/bridge forward in the saucer
d)ornamentation on the hull
e)weapon port at saucer
The Starcraft model is much blockier; the form seems nearly as broad abeam as it is from forward to aft; It's almost square. I'm not sure what those things are on the sides (weapon pods?) but they seem centred. The picture you provided certainly makes a valid point but looking at the terran ship in other incarnations and representations that was was definitely the most flattering where it stubby gunship build might be mistaken for a case of foreshortening.
When I look at the forward section you posted in two of the photos I really wonder what they were thinking. It looks to me like they took an unembellished aft section and welded it on the bow rather than designing a proper saucer/focscle. Where is the bridge? I'm looking at this thing and I'm not thinking warship. It looks like a tanker or cargo ship. Looking over the "shoulder" of the bucket I noticed a depression topside. It looks like the mouth of a hold.
It's all very nice that the stats on all faction ships are for the most part uniform but tell me how this lumbering, lumpen cargo hauler could outmaneuver the Bortas'qu? I know movement in space is governed by physics we don't encounter on Earth but if Star Trek was completely divorced from aesthetics and truly hard science the earth would be an embarrassingly small ball when viewed from ESD.
More than this the KDF were in STO canon supposed to have had an epiphany proceeding the development of the Mogh that clunky ships were not cutting it. An rather light intel cruiser and a very nice raptor followed. Were these ships a suddenly design dead end?
It is nice that we receive ships. It is unfortunate that the ship in question is the product of Starfleet naval doctrine repackaged for KDF consumption. at least if I was a fan of the Romulans I'd note the wrapping paper was better.
While I appreciate that all factions receive ships more effort has to be put into giving them characteristics that are true to the identities of the relevant powers. Personally I despised the dyson pack. I thought it was the ugliest, laziest, vanilla disservice done not only to each of the factions but to the roles of tactical and science as well. More than designs I do not like I'm disappointed that the same ethos came from that particular project.
Again thank you. It started out so nicely then ran straight downhill into a rant
