same problem here...totally confused with the new icons and the delay is an UI issue, a really annoying one.
The icons are a thing to get used to (in about 2 weeks i don't mind them anymore), which is alright, but the delay is a huge problem. Hope they adress that soon!
no i just got my kit the way i like it and before the kit revamp my set up did not exist
and for space the new system is great no more redudntant boffs no more 20million EC cost just to get a specific power because the boff has good space traits

I kinda like the customizable kits. Granted I'm still trying to recreate a Physicist kit on my Science character so I'm using the old style kit...
Before anyone asks... you try getting high level equivelents of the abilities that aren't white or green on a tight EC Budget.
But the ability to swap things out is pretty good.
Some icons are actually better - for example I could never remember the difference on my Eng toon between Weapon Malfunction and Fuse Armor. They were both some random symbols. Now, I can see the broken phaser icon and I understand that it is Weapon Malfunction.
Some of the others are more confusing, mostly because they tried to put too much detail into a tiny button graphic.
The rest is just relearning the ones I used to run all the time. Annoying, but not impossible to do.

I'd love a revert back to October 13, 2014...Pre DR
You can wish all you want...Cryptic wont revert back anything even if its broken.

I personally hope they don't revert the skills back to how they were.
With the way the game's code is currently "layered" - new code on top of old, on top of older, on top of older - there's no way this could happen without causing LOTS of problems.
Not sure exactly which features the OP is referring to, so I'll comment on these:
I for one like the new icon pictures. It took only a few seconds of use to get moderately used to them, and now I rarely have to hover-over an icon to see what it's for. To me the pictures seem more revealing of their use than before. More intuitive.
Also, I've used keybinds for years, so I'm mostly just mashing the same one or two buttons and they trigger whatever powers are intended. I don't need to "find" an ability on the power tray very often.
And when I do, well, I also long ago standardize my power locations across alts (for example, Evasive Maneuvers is always in row 0, slot 6, and shield repair powers are in slot 7, etc.). So I've kind of memorized the power by it's location more than it's picture.
But I understand how such a visual change can be disruptive, so I'm sorry for your inconvenience. My father (65yo who plays STO) is all confused by the new system, but he likes a challenge and is determined to figure it out. heh.
As for the new kits and modules. That took some getting used to, and I admit there's a lot about it I don't know. However, I really LOVE that new feature. The ability to fully customize my kit to the powers I want? Yes please! As you, I used to know all the abilities, so I knew which ones I needed and loaded those across my alts. All these new kit powers that are showing up in the lock boxes? Meh. I don't even bother. So far I haven't seen/heard of any that are really all that much better than the standards.
Regarding skill training of BOffs. Again... Like it. Oh, it's buggy, incomplete (some powers aren't trainable/available, yet), and needs work. But once Cryptic finishes it, it's going to be rad. If I need a special power, I don't have to save a collection of BOffs for future use, or hunt BOff by BOff on the Exchange to find AtS3. I don't have to find a class-proper player, meet-up with them, strip and trade away my BOff (and hope I get my BOff back!). So much better to find manuals on the exchange. AND! The same BOff can learn multiple powers! Again, the UI and functionality are not done, and need work. I think that's being done.
I do concede, I don't like the new systems in that there is now more lag/delay when used and a strange "black-out" that occurs sometimes when trying to use powers. I'm certain that's a bug and will be fixed, so I'm not too concerned about it at this time.
All-in-all, I think the game is better than it used to be insofar as powers/abilities. I don't mean to say you're wrong, this is just my opinion, so I'd have to vote that: No I don't want the skills reverted.
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

Ok.I see what you mean i press it twice and to others I am just talking about the look of the icon not to go back to having several kits
I like the custom kits myself but hate the look of the icon and I never mentioned it in my post I just want to revert back to the looks of the SKILL.
To those ho like the looks go tell the to a Healing Doctor in PvE ground mission.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Yeah. I think the biggest fault with kits would not be fixed by moving back. I think they should be moved forward.
Get rid of the skillpoints. Convert them into primary and secondary specializations (maybe some class specific). Maybe allow two primary specs to be active at once as a balance tool.
With the extra room you get in the character window from the removal of the "skills" tab, shift kits off to a tab.
Slot kits into kit slots on a Kit tab. Select which hit is active from the interface.
The biggest problem with kits is how much inventory space they take up and how cluttered that one UI pane is with them. Kits need their own UI tab that stores multiple kits that can be hotswapped out of combat.
No way, I can teach my bridge officers almost any skill and swap them around at need. The new skill system is awesome.
You didn't read my post did you I am talking about the looks I can't tell which skill is for what.I am not talking about boffs here just the look of the icon.
Changing the ways the icons look seems more annoying than helpful. I wouldn't doubt that Cryptic H.Q. was filled with mischievious laughter when they thought that up.
Regarding someone talking about getting high quality kit modules on a tight budget, if I read that right, you cen get a random very rare mk xi kit module from the mission assimilated in the borg chain. In the delta missions there's one that gives higher mark modules but I haven't run it yet. It's a level 55 mission I think.
The new icons make far more sense to a new player. They are a little disorienting initially, but far better in the long run.
The easiest method for dealing with icon change is to have keybinds setup properly (not just the everything on the spacebar method). This way you learn muscle memory to hit abilities and it's irrelevant what the icon looks like.
There are a few ways to do it, simplest is the ingame keybind options, but the more flexible way is the custom keybind files which can be made. They take a fair bit more effort to do though.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
There is no rpg that changes the look of its icons and and who cares about the new players. What about those who put money into this game.
I among many vets have to relearn every icon over again and Baudl is the only one who makes sence here.
Sounds like a severe case of GET OFF MY LAWN.
Baudl is about the only one who truly agreed with you, that's why you say he's about the only one making sense. However there are many MMO's who update their icon's over time and due to keeping things the same across the board, it's usually not an optional change.
TBH there are still a few icons that need to get that human outline removed. The revamped icons actually look a lot cleaner and are much easier to see what they do in relation to the action...
If you are truly a vet, then you'd have a keybind setup already and not even worry about what the icon looks like

The new icons are confusing because they are new. We'll get over it someday.
Some of them doesn't makes much sense, or are confusing for some reason. Like HE that look like a fireball in space. Or the aux to TRIBBLE that all look the same to me.
While it's not perfect, and unnecessary, I don't feel the need to see that reverted.

Pretty much all of them did. At least for a bunch of icons.
The last one that comes to mind is LOTRO, who redid a bunch of skills alongside their revamp.
As a game change and evolve, some skill to. Some of them are not even close to what they used to be. Sometimes the game goes through a revamp, and need new icons.
Recently, Swtor didn't change skill icons, per say, but they introduced several upgraded skill version, that you use over the old one (same, just better). And thus introduced new icons (alongside new animations). For example, the upgraded "Full auto" skill for the Trooper gunnery is "Boltstorm". So you have to use that one over FA.
In a few months, you'll barely remember what the old icons looked like.
