Then why are you here, because you sure as hell are acting as one.
Also, please define what you mean with "your kind", and 4 years to abuse the economy? Are you implying that playing the game to gain ingame rewards is abusing the economy? If yes, how do you come to that conclusion?
Aside from that, your post reads as one big flamebait. I take it you are hoping someone will reply in kind so the thread can be closed?
I suppose it wasn't abuse as it was allowed. But many exploiting it imo.
The vast sums of dil we were once able to collect, will no longer work here.
The company has changed directions. They don't want the game to be as it once was, ie players buying most items in shop through dil exchange.
They don't want this anymore.
It will never be like it was.
And a scrub is someone who lives off of others, they take what they can from whomever. Pretty much like those who had 15+ alts for dil slaves to havest them ridiculous amounts of Zen per day.
And I believe, the devs never intended for that system to play out like it did. Be happy you enjoyed it for so long.
Now theyre shutting down all the loopholes, and monetizing what they can.
You'd better get used to it is all I'm saying. Or you'll just continue to be disapointed as they make changes. They're not going to change directions with game for anyone but their shareholders.
I don't think any free player should be earning 2500-5000+ Zen a week by cycling thru their army of alts.
Sorry just my opinion.
Yup. They'll show a video to the higher ups saying "see? just look at all those people logged in and playing!"
If the OP really wants to make an impact, organize a log out instead of a sit-in. 10,000 people not logging in for a whole weekend (or longer) is going to hold more weight than those same 10,000 people logging in to just hang around ESD.
Indeed...sorry but this is the WRONG approach. Cryptic on the contrary will LOVE it. Dont think will be 10k on it but even when they see 1k plus watching or BEING on the livestream event...its considered a BIG success.
I support the feeling but why now? There have been several worst events in Cryptic's past and this game still running..Nerfing of the tour, Nerfing of the Foundry (we used to get great EC/DIL/MARKS), Nerfing of XP (which was more pronounced that DIL sink these days).
Choose your battle and your approach even better...this is a BAD idea that would only BENEFIT cryptic's metrics :D:D
... who needs to play the game for entertainment, the blogs and resulting forum storms are far more entertaining and free! Free 2 Laugh!
Have... have you lost touch with reality? Are you seriously, honestly, really organizing a protest over a couple of lousy dil projects?
I mean, you realize you can still turn in marks for dil, right? You can still get 500 for 50 marks and 1k for a couple of those fancy currencies, right? Like, your dil hasn't been actively stolen from you, you're just not getting as much as you expected.
It was one thing when it was just angry people - that I could understand. But this... I don't even know. Wow.
I suppose it wasn't abuse as it was allowed. But many exploiting it imo.

1 zen is 165 dili, 165*2500=412500 412500/7= 58928,572 dili a day, divided by 8000 is 7,366. You would have to max 7 toons a day, and refine 2929 dili on a eight to earn 2500 zen a week. If someones plays enough on a day to earn that much dilithium, I think they deserve it indeed. The scenario you are describing reminds me of the old IOR situation, and the clicky console missions. That was dealt with years ago. Its pretty hard these days to get that much dili in a day without putting in a lot of effort.
With regards to your comments on the zen/dili economy, you are making, in my opinion, two errors of judgement. The first being a "free player" somehow not being worthy of getting rewarded for their effort. "Free" players pay through their time, they are content to those that pay. The problem with what you describe is that there is no such thing as free dili. At some point, someone spend real cash on zen, and brought it into the economy. Ergo, there are no loopholes to close for Cryptic, because they already got the cash they wanted for that zen. They don't mind a player converting his zen into dili, hell they encourage it with the dili sinks. If they wanted to stop the "free" players from getting zen, all they have to do is to disable the dili/zen exchange.
Fun fact, the only ones really "hurting" the zen economy, are lifetimers like you and me. We keep getting our stipends, long after our investment was "earned back" in the form of zen. The only ones getting "free zen", are we *not* the F2Per. Of course technically our zen isn't free either, it just keeps getting cheaper and cheaper in comparison.
Lost and Delirious... and Disenchanted too Apparently some forum posters have diplomatic immunity nowadays, where can I get mine?
The whole point of a sit-in is to occupy a location and cause disruption to normal operation, forcing the "owners" to deal with you rather than ignore you. It can only be effective if you can actually stop a place operating or cause a potential annoyance. Look at the Occupy Wall Street guys to see what a sit-in or occupation can do.
How the hell are you going to do that in a computer game?!?!?!
It won't have any affect because it cannot affect the operation of the game regardless of how many 1000's of you sit there doing nothing. If the devs don't want you there they simply pull the plug on you because you are powerless!
Your sit-in will have no power and will only look like lots of people are logging in to mess about in ESD, in other words the game will look busier than ever!
The unpalatable fact is that none of us have any power to effect / force change to Cryptic/PWE's policies. None. Not you, not me, not a hundred or even a thousand players. There are many more who are perfectly willing to keep giving them money, and that is all they, like any business, care about.
The only power, the only choice, you have is to leave - to quit - to take your business elsewhere. You have power over yourself, your own actions and your own spending; that is all.
Unfortunately I have to work at that time, yet I support you in spirit, unfortunately whales dont care they just spend mommies money (those are the only people PWE cares about) So it is moot, spend NOTHING ever again, find every exploit, crash every market. Give them nothing, take from them, everything until they start catering to the Majority by number not cash spent.

^ you either work harder at doing stuff like this (which doesn't help STO in terms of making revenue, and making the game better) he only helps himself here. And in the process possibly destroys the in game economy for every other regular player, playing for fun and not profit.
See SWG for an example of what happens when this type of mentality is used*
Or you just play free and accept that you'll have to wait much longer then you were accustomed too for Zen purchases.
Or find another game that fits your needs. You'll quickly discover STO had by far the most generous of economies pre DR.
Its changed for good now, the Boff update solidified that for me, as if DR already hadn't.
That's an entirely different set of circumstances though. Having tons of people logging in to show support for a game that was announced to be shut down shows support and a desire to keep the game running. In that instance, you WANT a lot of people logging in.
Agreed that the City of Heroes sit in was quite different in specifics .
But was it any different in spirit -- as in trying to avert something by calling attention to it ?
See, the inactivity and the acceptance of one nerf after the next and the constant trolling of those who do not swallow the Cryptic propaganda -- all this is symptomatic to a bigger failure of us as a community .
Which is why I said that I do not believe that this community would do a genuine mass protest even to save STO .
When you bend over and take it so many times you become disensetised , and apathic .

Having a different opinion does not mean the person is a troll or fanboy... Many people (myself included, on many occasions) have been on the end of such barbs from you (and many others) countless times now, as they may indeed understand and can see the moves Cryptic are taking as justified, or within their rights to make as the owners and developers of STO...
This is something you've created in your own mind time and again, as you clearly cannot accept that your opinion may not be the only one and thus, you resort to simple name calling...
Those who systematically call anyone who opposes their view, and even so much as slightly supports Cryptic's stance, a troll, fan boy, or white knight, are simply trying to suppress and stymy those with a different view, as they often cannot refute what is being said with legitimate argument...
Now you can sit there and spout what ever you want, but your repeated falling back to the level of schoolyard name calling makes clear you really don't have alot to support your arguments and refute opposing opinion...
as they may indeed understand and can see the moves Cryptic are taking as justified, or within their rights to make as the owners and developers of STO...
It comes down to this question: Why even make the counter-argument?
Do you, personally, support the decision to reduce dilithium rewards? For argument's sake, let's say Cryptic reduced rewards for activities that you personally do, everything you do in the game just had its rewards reduced.
It's not a matter of opinion if you have no connection to Cryptic, why even support decisions that hurt you as a player?
You do not share in the company's profitability. Why even waste time making counter-arguments if you receive nothing from posting them? Making counter-arguments so we can see the issue from Cryptic's perspective? We already know Cryptic's persepective: profit, everything they do is towards the ultimate goal of more profit.

In short, because I have the right to share my opinion on the topic at hand... Now, if that opinion just happens to be that I understand why Cryptic have made certain moves, then why should I not share that opinion? Why should I not demonstrate that there are those amongst the players who are not baying for their blood over, what I usually consider, insignificant issues...
As far as the dilithium nerfs presently, they were two aspects of the game I knew were going to be addressed sooner or later, and I myself will admit I am guilty of hoarding T5 rep hand-ins - am I upset about this, not in the slightest as in the grand scheme of things, it's effect on overall gameplay is minimal... Take away the dilithium to zen conversion completely, and I'll fully understand people screaming at Cryptic...
The only thing that surprised me about this change was that it took this long to be perfectly honest...
I am within my rights to express my opinion that Cryptic are within their rights to take this action...
By suggesting that I should not, because 'people already know Cryptic's stance and motivation' seems to be a veiled attempt to stymy opposing opinion by suggesting it is unwarranted and unnecessary...
Now, I honestly don't know if that was truly your intent, and whether I'm just being cynical, but that is kinda how I interpreted it... I could of course be wrong...
Those complaining about this need to accept the fact that Cryptic/PWE want to make money. Making money means more monetized systems (eg. R&D, BOFF training etc.) and less means of earning Dil for free in-game so people use their wallets to buy Zen.
Yes, this whole issue stinks, but it is what it is, and there is only going to be more and more monetizing coupled with further nerfing of rewards in the future. What you're seeing now is just the tip of the iceberg.
Actually, what you're seeing now should be pretty close to the end of the nerfs, and this isn't even related to the other ones really. Any future "adjustments" should be accompanied by BUFFS, if anything. If not, then apparently Geko is still spewing TRIBBLE.
I get that they need to make money. But after playing for four years and having had a Gold Sub. I don't like the direction the game is going. I have better things to spend my money on. I have already spent way too much on this game. IT IS ONLY A GAME. I don't even enjoy it anymore. The GREEDY people of PWE have ruined the game and CBS should pull the licence .
The GREEDY people of PWE have ruined the game and CBS should pull the licence .
The funny thing here... CBS won't pull the license as long as the greedy people at PWE keep giving the greedy people at CBS their royalties...
Just for arguments' sake, and without obviously knowing the details of the license, for all we know the license itself may have been up for renewel, and the increased monetisation may have even been a direct result of CBS increasing their demand for royalties... Such things have happened...
You know, I do agree with you. Also old timers are not wanted either. For example, I have sufficient dilithium and zen to buy anything I might want in game for the rest of its existence. I am utterly worthless to the company.
What they want are new people who forget the salad days and accept the lean times. Well, not lean yet. When the last couple relics of the old days are removed then the true new era will begin.
And I will be here until the lights go out enjoying playing Trek (for free).
I suspected they would take the marks away someday. Just as I know they will make doffing pointless and will fix contraband. But I don't have a specific date.
Either on the forum or in one of the podcasts. Too tired to look for the post/pod cast ATM.
Either way i knew about it and since i am neither a psychic nor have any back door information from cryptic it was announced.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
In short, because I have the right to share my opinion on the topic at hand... Your opinion is that you understand why Cryptic reduced the dilthium rewards? That doesn't sound like an opinion.
I also understand why Cryptic made the change, but I do not agree with it and I do not support it, that is my opinion on the change. What is your opinion on the reduced dilithium rewards? Do you support the change?
You say you don't feel upset by the dilithium reduction, but that doesn't mean everyone feels the same way or should feel the same way.
Your opinion is that Cryptic are within their rights to make this decision? That still doesn't sound like an opinion. I just feel that you are not making a substantive argument. Do you AGREE with the change or not?
Also, "Why should I not demonstrate that there are those amongst the players who are not baying for their blood over, what I usually consider, insignificant issues..." I may be a cynical person, but that sounds like you're characterizing players who have a different opinion as being bloodthirsty and irrational in order to marginalize and dismiss their opinions on issues, which you personally consider as being insignificant.
Did anyone actually log on for this? More than three? Less than twelve? What's the deal? OP, give us some highlights or something of this super successful protest.
Not many. I showed up to see if it was anything like the EVE Online protests and it was not. Thing about it is the protest organizers chose ESD and the site of the protests and the drawback of that is the numerous instances - therefore, if everyone showed up to one place in a given instance that's only 40 players.

Well, yes... My opinion is that they are within their rights to change their F2P model as they see fit within their business plan, and to be honest, I'm indifferent in this case as I had seen it coming for a long time... The only thing that suprised me was it took this long...
Does it affect me, yes... Is it a negative change, yes... Is it going to destroy my experience (or the experience of anyone for that matter), no - if this change destroys a players' experience, I have to question just what they were getting out of STO to begin with frankly... I think alot of the reason why many of these changes do not bother me is that STO is just a game and if I'm getting worked up over a game, I shouldn't be playing...
Also, "Why should I not demonstrate that there are those amongst the players who are not baying for their blood over, what I usually consider, insignificant issues..." Not all, but some... Please don't even try and deny this as you only need to look at the forums for a short while before you see people demanding sackings, business closures, lynchings and the like...
I'm not telling people they should not express their opinion, even if that opinion is demanding that people lose their livelihood, baying for blood as it were, because someone is playing a free game and the ways in which they get to play that free game are being changed... Just don't expect me to hold back when I see such postings, they open themselves up to oposing responses, as I am well aware, so do I...
Hell, not too long ago I can remember some idiot likening Cryptic to Islamic State - or was it Al-Qaeda, it was one of the two anyway... That is probably the most extreme example of the sort of behaviour that remark was directed at...

Then surely you also see that nothing any of us do is going to change that.
My hope is to make you understand that, so that you can use your time and/or money more productively.

Not all, but some...
