Item Upgrade System not Functioning - Requesting Dil and Superior Tech refund.

So I recently attempted to upgrade a Mk XIV Rare Science Particle Generator to Mk XIV Very Rare. I fill in the necessary Dilithium and Superior Techs + Tech Boosters.

Then I hit "Upgrade". Instead of being given the usual timer; it just defaults to "Claim Item". I wait a moment, and it still doesn't change. So I Claim it back. No upgrade, no nothing. Still Mk XIV Rare.

I tried it a second time on a different Upgrade slot, hoping it would work. No dice. Same result. This time, I log out and log back in, hoping it would self fix. Still just an Instant Claim Item, and no timer until next major upgrade.

I already filed a request to have this looked into, but I'm posting it here as well to cover all bases. I simply hope to be reimbursed for the Dilithium and Superior Techs I wasted with these two attempts. I don't mind not being reimbursed for the lost Tech Accelerators, but I really do want my Dil and Superior Techs back.

I also tested this with the Tactical CC Console on another alt (From Very Rare to Ultra Rare); it's not working. Defaults to Claim item. I'll take the loss of Dil and Superiors wasted on that test, since I tried it knowing it might TRIBBLE up.

Sorry to say rarity upgrade is not a certainty.. Only MK upgrade is.

You'll see on the upgrade window there are 2 bars that fill in.

The top one is tech points and this one is for Mk upgrades, and fills as you use tech upgrades. This is a guaranteed upgrade event until the item is Mk XIV.

The bottom one is rarity CHANCE % and it too increases as you use upgrade techs, although it is not a guaranteed event, but rather a chance (research boost accelerators / superior experimental upgrade techs will make it fill faster).

The chance for rarity upgrade is rolled when you upgrade Mk up to Mk XIV, but this chance is generally very small, and resets to 0% every time you upgrade, unless there was an overflow of tech points which will carry over along with whatever rarity chance they are worth.

When you reach Mk XIV and fill the top bar (tech points) and click "Upgrade Item", the chance for rarity is rolled, and if it hits, then you get the rarity upgrade, and the timer will start. If the chance does not hit, then you claim the item at its previous stats. In this case, the rarity chance % does not reset, and will continue to grow as you keep attempting to upgrade it, until it hits or you decide to stop upgrading it.

Huh. If that's the case, then that means that other equipment were bugged then; as I had no trouble upgrading rarity from several different Mk XIV VR to Mk XIV UR with a 1% chance all in the same day.

I was under the assumption that after reaching Mk XIV, subsequent upgrades would just increase the Rarity guaranteed.

If that's the case, feel free to lock and close the this thread and the report ticket.

No guarantees until you've spent astronomical* amounts of Dilithium:

Once you’ve reached the maximum Mark for your gear, you can keep applying upgrades for a chance to get a quality improvement. Each time you apply enough tech points, you can attempt an upgrade again. If you don’t get the quality improvement on an item at the maximum Mark, you can keep trying, and your chance will continue to increase until you succeed.

*quick estimate on Mk XIV very rare console: 8 superior kits per 5%-points increase leads to 160 superior kits = 172k Dilithium for 100% chance of upgrade to ultra rare
