I understand people are frustrated; however, just now a dev was at ESD and people were grieving them over the chat. I think this achieves little in the grand scheme of things. Plus, I think it's tacky to go after a person that's essentially just the PR person and not a coder.

Considering that many of the idiots in Zone consider CMs to be developers, I'm not surprised.
But developer or community team, it doesn't matter. So, I agree. We players should take the high road. Be critical, but not outright childish or insulting.
Just because Zone is a wonderfully wretched hive of scum and villainy in STO, doesn't mean it has to descend down to 4chan levels of retardation.
The only dev I would even consider doing that to is Geko, but he certainly doesn't play the game anyway. I also probably still wouldn't do it just because I'm not an TRIBBLE$hole.

Dude...not cool. Way to be offensive to a cross section of the community...idiot.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.
Earth Spacedock can sometimes be a little....... over the edge.
As in down right a place to mute at any cost.
Not always, but people who go there to chat should realize that ESD is the location for the ignorant, the childish and the downright rude people. Not saying everybody there would fall into those categories, but still...
not been there, but as our cm's turned out to be pure pr-m's over the time imo my respect for them lacked a lot. personal thing for sure, but can't change it. they could but won't, so yeah: don't jump the fire if ya can't take the heat. do ya jobs and get ya sh** sorted, just like everyone else out there has to.
I was there when Trendy showed up. While there were quite a few people who behaved nicely, there quite a few people saying really ugly things.
Trust me, it ain't all rainbows and flowers from my view, but no one deserves this bashing, especially as a community manager (not a developer).
After Trendy did say that she does parse the chatter going on, all I asked was to pass on that they could please look into remove time limits as mission critical conditions from certain queued events. There is a reason people play Infected and Khitomer constantly and not Cure Found or Hive Onslaught. However I wasn't yelling, cursing or otherwise obnoxious.
Do I know if they will even hear of it? No. But they definitely wouldn't do anything if I was as rude as some of the people that were there.
Dude...not cool. Way to be offensive to a cross section of the community...idiot.
Most of the regular denizens of Zone would wear this as a badge of pride. Like I said, a wonderfully wretched hive of scum and villainy.
I know this all to well because I spend more time than I should in Zone. And much as I love the laughs I get from some of the foolishness and trolling, sometimes people cross the line from my PoV. Like viciously attacking the CMs or the developers.
People can be critical without being a complete TRIBBLE about it.
And by the way, this isn't Zone. This is the STO Forums. So, lay off the personal attacks.
I understand people are frustrated; however, just now a dev was at ESD and people were grieving them over the chat. I think this achieves little in the grand scheme of things. Plus, I think it's tacky to go after a person that's essentially just the PR person and not a coder.
I'm sorry to hear of this. No one, no one on Earth, deserves to be berated or belittled, especially about a game.
But...players seem to be pretty angry about what's been done with STO beyond some fanboys and white knights. Not everyone is screaming at devs and shouldn't be but STO is a bit jacked up now for what seems to be more than a few people. Be it bugs, PvP or in my case, feeling the game is being far too stingy in rewarding players from different aspects, there's some issues going on and the public comments made by Cryptic shows a serious disconnect from players' in-game expereinces.
The game isn't trash. It's quite beautiful and has a great story and such and I know a lot of good, hard work is put into it. If all the concerns that have been brought up could be summed up in one word its...direction. The direction they've taken STO is player-hostile and so, the players are angry about one aspect or another.
That *in no way* justifies attacking people personally but I do not find in in any way surprising post-DR with comments I've read here, in-game, on Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or some podcasts. Someone or someones at either PWE or Cryptic got too ambitious and/or greedy and has vastly overreached the players' tolerance for monotization and while I'm almost postive the Devs get it, I'm not seeing any indication their bosses get it.
But shame on people for attacking the dev. Unfortunately, people's concerns aren't getting attention any other way so that tends to encourage that behavior unfortunately.
If you guys think the forums are bad, ESD zone chat is 100 times worse. It defies any sort of reason or logic. If a psychologist tried to analyze ESD zone chat, they would probably end up in a mental hospital themselves. If I were a dev, I wouldn't touch zone chat with a 100 ft. pole.
If people hate this game so much, why are they even here? If you're here for hate alone, then welcome to being an animal, not a human being.
Sheesh, hating over pixels. And not just this game either. And not just games in general either. All of life that they turn into anything but enjoying life, whatsoever. More feels giving into social peer pressure, just to be a hater, because it's 'cool' to pile on like that. What a tripe filled wallow of a hollow soul. (I can curse instead, if ye all really want instead.)
Personally, really friggen personally, despite all the quirks and 'political' motives this game is under, I enjoy the fact that they made an MMO in a theme I can really identify with. Sure, the server tends to crash too much like Obamacare, lag at 2 seconds gets annoying, the lack of story flow verses more grinding than sandpaper to the face, and a customer service that is run by Borg (broken ones it seems,) I'm still around after a more of less enjoyed run of five years at this, on and off overall, that I keep willingly coming back to, willingly pay for gold membership willingly of willingly, for the fact to enjoy a game, set in a universe I can identify with. And when the grind gets annoying, there's episode replay, and all manner of things to do, that doesn't have to do with getting uber gear, that I already have stockpiles of, that grace my dozens of starships, and numerous Boffs I lovingly care for. (My wittle Boff and Doff pets. -purr-)
I'll be honest, STO can do thing better.
I'll also be honest, I enjoy this game, for what it is. Till the day the server shuts down, and all I ever did here, goes into MMO history. (Hopefully better than what SWG got, honest to say there.)
To encapsulate: Thank you darn friggen much Devs, for a game to partake, identify, and enjoy, for those that truly choose to do so. (And political kissing my TRIBBLE here. I mean[/i] this.)

I agree, but its sad that raging with torches & pitchforks in these days is still the best chance to change something.
Reading all this makes me feel ashamed and I was not even there.
I agree, but its sad that raging with torches & pitchforks in these days is still the best chance to change something.
For the most part, that last sentence pretty much sums up human progress. It's unfortunate but it also tends to be true. People that have power and control don't like to budge until they see the masses at the gates. I'm pretty sure it's an ego thing.
There is no question that peeps should treat each other with respect, true. However does the majority of in game population feel to be treated by respect through the delta rising release?
I dont think so.
So whats right and whats wrong here? Massive ethical question worth of hundreds of pages? No, simple cryptic terms of service rules of behavior! They used it to bring us Delta Rising and for as long as the players stay within them to give their feedback everything should be fine, awesome and working as intended.
If anybody takes anything personally, Im sorry but that's their problem. Quiet frankly I have mine and a hard time giving my input in zone chat when a dev and ESPECIALY A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE DECSSION MAKING PUBLISHER IS ARAOUNG IN ORDER TO DO HIS JOB FOR WHICH IS GETTING PAYED BY THE CUSTOMER. *sorry caps
--> play and chat by PvE rules and everything should be fine here.
Glad I wasn't there but ginding instead.

What they need is to get some GM's into ESD to clean the place up.
I'm not an advocate for censorship, but the things said in ESD chat are over the line. Considering that this is one of the first places that new players go when trying the game it also sets a horrible example of what the community is really like.
The ESD Chat makes this forum look like Sunshine and Rainbows. People here complain, but the STO community overall is a good place. If you post on here asking for help with something, people help you, they're willing to try and offer you suggestions and solutions. Yeah, it gets chippy at times between people, but overall the community here is pretty good.
ESD is just a troll haven, it's a horrible cross section of the community and I really hope that Trendy doesn't take that as the 'typical' interaction with the player base. They really need to get some people into ESD to start warning/suspending/banning some of these people that are just there to troll and offend people.
Honestly, ESD chat is the worst example of sub human trash that I have ever seen in a game. It's ridiculous that the game doesn't have GM's that log in and enforce the rules. Until they do, this will not change. People know they can say whatever they want to whoever they want without consequence. As long as that is the case, nothing will change.
Well first of all if this is Smirk we're talking about then he deserves that kind of attention simply because he started posting in reddit instead of the forums which is a well known tactic for members of the development team (whether they coded the game or not) to do when they know that the company isn't doing right by the players. So yeah, if someone's griefing him about how the game is they all deserve it until they fix these problems.
Secondly, if someone is threatening however that's a whole different story, no one should be threatening people even I know that. Even though I'm not going to log back into this trainwreck of an game until they fix it to make it more like the actual IP I wouldn't be threatening anyone, but griefing them about how the game is, uhm yes yes I would because there is no excuse for this lack of professionalism in any game title. I've seen indie games who closed down in a week after beta that have been handled better than this title has been no lie.
I understand people are frustrated; however, just now a dev was at ESD and people were grieving them over the chat. I think this achieves little in the grand scheme of things. Plus, I think it's tacky to go after a person that's essentially just the PR person and not a coder.
oh? and is that why you have ignored what you wrote? since that sig underneath tells another story that you are grieving the devs with a meme about the game.
i cant take your thread seriously in knowing that.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Good times.....
Can't we be better than this? I get the impression the Devs-when they do appear-just want some lighthearted chat with the players.
I felt like I was the only one just engaging in friendly chatter. But she disappeared fast though. Maybe two or three minutes before she logged out.
Most unfortunate.
...i'd gladly take that challenge if we still were in s6 lulz ...
