What about those missions stuck in your Review Content? I've had missions stuck there for months with almost no plays. Is there away to make it easier for players to find my missions?
I don't have the time and resources to make trailers to post on youtube, I depend on the occasional internet radio promo, the forums, and the basic word of mouth to get plays for my missions.
With all the time and effort I put into making Foundry Missions, it's rather disheartening not to have people play them.
My question is when we want to play a foundry mission will we have to wait four to 20 hours to start the mission or will we have to pay the customary 18,000 dilithium if we want to start the mission immediately? Just wondering...
I don't care what the header says, I am not now, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be, an "ARC user".

Try posting review requests in the Foundry subforum. The thread in my sig has links to several reviewer threads (although I haven't updated mine in months). That alone should get you out of review hell. I think you just need five to get into the main pool and fifteen to qualify for rewards.

This is like the exploration solution many players came up with when the exploration clusters were removed, as well as things that have been asked for for years!
Cryptic just earned back a kudo!

I have to say this is one update I do applaud Cryptic for doing.

Damn you, Cryptic. I get good and mad over grind and non-faction ships and not having my player character consulted, and then you go and do something awesome like this and ruin the whole rage-thing.
Apologies, I'm sure we'll come up with something new for you to rage about soon.
Please have some patience through this rage drought. . .

in that cryptic always has been reliable since lor! :P:rolleyes: (in terms of mechanics and balance, we all luv u taco! )
... sadly most of the gametype i used to luv is dead by now and most players gone, so enjoy the silence on pvp-forums if the other subforums get too hot ...

LOL! Seriously, though, Taco, to whom it may concern at Cryptic, thanks for this.

That image had nothing to do with the Anniversary Mission, a Foundry Mission, the new Foundry Feature, or any missions what so ever Not even PvE!
It does have to do with a certain REDACTED that is coming next Monday the 26th in it's own posts and threads, so keep your eyes peeled on how you can solve this Borg/DS9 mystery!

Thanks, Smirk. You guys peaked my interest on that, and I'm sure I'm not the only one!
A marvelous step in the right direction. Outstanding addition to bring back a sense of "exploration" and variation to the universe and introduce UGC to more of the community.
A few questions
1. what are the conditions for "top rated content"? If a mission has say 39 plays and qualifies for rewards with a 4 1/2 star rating and a mission has 1000 plays with the same rating will both receive visibility on a door? Is there a minimum amount of plays for a mission to qualify?
2. what happens after playing a mission? will it remain on a door until the refresh timer? if a door has only say 3 missions that qualify will they always be visible even after being played?
3. Spotlight missions are easy enough to find (at least the handful), will top rated non spotlight missions have to compete with spotlight missions for door visibility?
I can understand not putting new content in this system...as a new author I learned quickly that in order to really test my mission I needed to publish it to view things like pathing and would have really disliked people playing an incomplete mission and giving it poor ratings. So while I am a proponent of getting new material more plays I can't imagine any easy way to separate genuine complete new missions from incomplete or test missions: save adding a flag in the foundry editor to publish without ratings so you can test and not be punished if others happen across your story.
But man this is a really good improvement and one I've been suggesting since the removal of clusters. Well done.
On most of these, I think that there are a lot of systems with no missions at all. Pretty much for the first few months most planets won't have anything showing up at all.
But almost certainly the sort order will be exactly the same as the current sort order in the existing tool just with a filter to include the start location. There's really no reason to assume they'd make a new sorting tool instead of reusing what already exists. Confirmation would be good though.
Sounds cool and all but hopefully there will be mission info along with the popup that gives appox time it takes to do the mission(s), ect.
That is up to the mission author to add a description. I get neverwinter and sto's foundries mixed up cause I use both so often, but I believe sto has the average play time shown when you are given the chance to accept the mission.
Personally I think this is going to do a lot for the Foundry as a feature for the game.
1. All players, especially levelling players, now see a mission selection while just going around playing the game.
2. Missions that might have otherwise been buried in the mission browser suddenly become more accessible.
3. It'll be a bit of a game changer for how players play missions ("Hm, I wonder what's a good mission at THIS planet!") and how authors make missions ("Hm, maybe I can have a higher chance my mission will get played if I start it at THIS planet for plot reasons!") and maybe even reviewers ("The Top Missions that start at Planet X are:")

This change can be a motivator for getting back into Foundry as long as the payoff is also worthwhile (especially XP). Foundry was initially a good place to spend time then the Devs started nerfing the rewards (first the types that will reward, which was justified, and then in the overall useful reward). Let us see some goo use of this and all will rejoice about playing Foundry missions.

It will use the epohh timer so 24 hours not 20, and it will be the first test of the new "finish now pay 50 zen" system.

Xp is generally bad to mediocre depending on how verbose the author is. Dilithum however is quite good, especially for spotlight missions.
after the somewhat recent xp level changes i don't know if xp gains from foundry qualify as mediocre anymore. we still have a daily 6k xp or so cap in foundry.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
Color me interested in how this presents itself in-game. It certainly indicates a step in the right direction. And hopefully a stepping-stone toward further Foundry inclusion throughout year five.

the incentive for playing foundry missions is dil and not xp as much. so for those who complain about a lack of dil and don't play foundry missions are missing probably the highest most consistent source of dil income in the game next to paying for zen and converting it.
Overall, I will say this is a good upgrade to the foundry system. I do have two clarifying questions...
1) Do these top 3 missions only appear in Sector Space? Or do they also appear on various consoles and interactable objects in ESD, Qo'nos, DS9 and other ground locations?
2) It would be nice to have more information about how these "top rated" missions are selected. For example what's the minimum rating, number of plays required for a foundry mission to be selected?

Salami Inferno was on STO Reddit earlier (who by the way hate this upgrade for some reason...) and answered these already.
1) Yes, only in Sector Space.
2) Its from a pool of the top 100 rated missions at that doorway.
As a Foundry author myself, I wholeheartedly approve of this... with one tiny little caveat.
Can we get it at interaction points on ground social maps as well? (Particularly starbases.)
(My only currently completed mission, sadly, is one of those... for storyline reasons, a space beginning point did not and does not seem reasonable.)
As a fellow author in a similar predicament - I wouldn't recommend it. Basically every social zone would be lit up like a christmas tree. It would be better to add a foundry contact to each map (as in an NPC).

That I can answer....
"At this time, only Foundry missions that use the door to a particular point of interest will be available through the Foundry Top 3 system. For example: A mission that starts in sector space at Drozana Station is eligible. One that starts on Drozana Station by clicking an interact on the ground map is not."
...by saying it is the former rather than the latter. Only missions with doors in sector space will be displayed, up to 3 per door, based on user rating and the viewing player's eligibility to play those missions (faction/level). This is a feature to try and reinforce the attempt to use Foundry content to replace the Exploration content that was deleted, and it's actually a really good setup if its design follows the description... unless a player has hit the reward cap for Foundry missions (something that itself could greatly benefit from more transparency in-game) for the day.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
It will likely mean small changes to some foundry mission to qualify. Its sounds like a great idea. I often find myself bored silly, unwilling to grind argala and looking for something to do.

People don't actually read the blogs, they just see a headline and come cry about how terrible Cryptic is.
Dev Post is a big red flag whine where they get the most attention from the most players.
