Viral torpedo bugged

Hit team power, fire first torp then fire 2nd before 1st hits. The second torpedo renews the viral debuff. This is apparently because of the travel time of the torps. Some are abusing this to lock people down for 10 seconds. A disable immunity would help after the first torp hits, or firing the first torp should immediately remove the buff from the person firing. Also, while we're at it, it would be nice to have a counter to the disable, but if settle for only being locked down for 5 s instead of 10.

    ET clears it.

But with the ability for the torps to stack it (extend the duration), the reapplication means that even with ET, you're just going to end up disabled again.

So yeah, if the QA folks want to test it...just load up some torps - fire from max distance - notice that it works as expected. Then fire from a near distance with the travel time shortened and experience why the thread was created.

While there is the discussion about limiting the ability of multiple players to do this, this is (I believe) a thread reporting the issue of a single person doing it...ie, Viral Torpedo becomes Viral Torpedoes depending on your range to the target and the travel time of your torps.

I have engi team on most of my ships. Unless I'm getting hit by multiple torps, or a torp and ionic turbulence, it has not cleared the disable. I'll try again. Does engi team clear the doable from ionic as well?

HE would clear the Ionic, but you can't HE if disabled.

The usual process is likely the multiple Virals and the Ionic from a single player...chain stunned.

With the reaction time, the UI delay, and the activation delay...there would be enough time that if one got hit by the Viral, cleared it, that they would be hit again, disabled again...because of the way Viral is Virals.

Would also explain why certain jumps work well with it, being tied to the travel distance, eh? When you hit that Trajector Jump or Subspace Jump, etc, etc, etc - you've increased the distance and the additional torp hits won't be Viral...unless there are multiple folks hitting you, which gets into another matter.

The ET thing is kind of like with Web Mines and their disable/stun.

Thanks for the info. Could we get confirmation that someone is looking into this?

It's the weekend...I'd find a way to "bump" it on Monday, outside of just a "bump". Add some more info, say there was more testing with more results or just confirmation sort of thing. That way it might have a better shot of getting the eye of the QA folks. Just don't "bump" just to bump...heh, it irritates them.

Also have to keep in mind they're likely going to be looking at everything they've got on Tribble as well...trying to get that set to go.

Meh, basically - I'm never hopeful of any bugs getting fixed. But you can only do what you can...

I've seen the thread and it's on my list to investigate.

As a bit of an aside, so to speak...is it actually doing the wrong type of "disable" given it's name?

Load Viral Warhead...might have one think of oh say Viral Matrix. Viral Matrix is a Subsystem disable. The Load Viral Warhead on the other hand is doing a "stun/hold" disable. Which gets into the realm of the Nadeon Detonator console and having torps that do Photonic Shockwaves, eh?
