that's good to hear. was thinking today about them. for themes, they should follow the lockboxes.
if like the solenae secondary deflectors, we can expect a 1/3rd boost from them as compared to regular deflectors.
A couple I was thinking about were:
Tal Shiar Secondary--boosts stealth, subD, sensors, and adds an inherent infiltrator proc.
Dominion Secondary Deflector--boosts shield hardness, Sif, PtG, and weapons power
and then there's the Voth, Undine and Elachi secondary deflector....and the Ferengi one that increases rewards...(orion increases slaves captured?)
I'm just looking forward to it, they've been talking about it for a while.
As much as I am happy to hear about this, I also feel like this is slight 'nerf' to the T6 Pathfinder (and any other ship currently possessing the secondary deflector slot). Not something to get upset about, but what was an advantage at purchase will no longer be so. Like I said, it's all good ... but if you would kindly turn the shuttle console into a hangar bay, I would feel much better ...

I do get some radiation damage from that deflector. However, the new deflectors can be crafted and upgraded with different themes. One is more control so it will be much much better than the deteriorating.
I suppose this is more of a 'nerf' to the awful dyson ships and the solanae secondary.

Wow, and here I though they'd forgotten all about their plans for secondary deflectors.
Good news for science ship captains, I suppose.

I hope when it's ready. If it gets greenlighted to go to holodeck tomorrow, I will likely... just roll my eyes and mutter incoherently under my breath.
And people say the devs don't listen....well here you go ...
I thought this was another thread declaring the awfulness of current secondary deflectors.
Yet here I am, reading some of best news I've heard in a while pertaining to STO.
My hat is off to them.
And Thx OP for posting it. That's some great news.
Good guess but I could see this shipping independently. We got the upgrade system prior to DR after all.

I wouldn't say that...if you want to be that down and technical it isn't as big of a buff to the T6 Sci ships as the others but it's still a buff.
The Pathfinder comes with a statless deflector which affects drain skills which a lot of people don't use...
Not only will you get a deflector with stats now...you can get a deflector that may affect powers you use more.

And everyone was saying it would be season 10 before we got them...
They did have to make a whole new set of items, as well as dive into code to add the secondary slots to all the science ships. Its a lot more complicated than just flipping a switch.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Thing is they did say it was on the work schedule post Delta Rising for 2015. But you know because we didn't get them, instananiously most people just decided to make fun of cryptic for this. I hope they're eating crow now.

Never complained about the secondary deflectors myself, but yeah, crow pie.
While they may be on the list - currently I am unable to see them on the ships. That may be an issue with the current release.
So far what I've seen on tribble, it's a positive change Really like that boffs can have more than one skill at each slot. That level of flexibility rocks.

Serious question here - is this not Season 10 coming?
We're getting an episode revamp, the secondary deflectors, the boff skill revamp, and the Anniversary. More than we got for S 9.5.
Also - did S8.5 not launch with the anniversary ship?
Or is this S 9.75 coming down the pipe? Or X2.5 or something?
Regardless, glad to see the Secondary Deflectors finally coming - going to be a good day for sci...
Err, I just logged off from Tribble. Sorry, I haven't memorized the stats.
But basically, in additition to the type we already have, we get one that basically adds a healing buff (to the kind of buff/heal powers you expect, and Photonic OFficer), and the other that adds radiation damage. (Including to a power like Gravity Well).
But I have no idea yet what kind of stuff rarity would add to Secondary Deflectors.
Unfortunately, character copy is broken to me so I can't transfer any of my crafters over to check that out.

That's what they said about the Titanic

All in all I do have to give credit where credit is due they did actually get them going in testing at least.
Edit: Although I did just notice that there's not one there to improve exotic damage.

No, they'll just have selective amnesia over this. Just like they do everything else that could possibly be construed as a positive decision.

If I understand correctly, these things are planned for the anniversary of the game's release. So early February?
