I made a mistake

Ok, so, I've been mostly just quickly going through DOff missions because I'm way behind and just trying to get points in all of the sections. I've been looking for missions that supply something back to me, whether it be people or other items, stuff that will work with other missions (refugees, colonists, etc). I made a HUGE mistake the other night. I did a mission and did not bother reading it. The game selected "Law" to go on this mission. I don't remember what the exact mission was, but it was kind of an exchange. Basically, I send one of my people to this location and they send me one to replace him. Well, I got a Green in place of a Purple. That really is NOT a good trade to begin with, but, I did not mean to get rid of him, especially a purple DOff. Now I know he was given to me in A Fistful of Gorn. But, I've been trying to get him back, but all I keep getting for rewards is kits. Is it possible to get him back from replaying that mission, or am I just out of luck on trying to get him back??

Could try contacting support, but don't be surprised if they won't help. Those Duty Officers really should be bound to the character with no way to get rid of them.

the op mentioned it straight off; i wasnt paying attention when i was doing the doff assignments = player error and purpose.

i doubt cryptic would care to help either, from what i know of their customer support..
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Yeah that was one of the doff exchange missions & yep, on whatever toon you did that, you're pretty much screwed & you'll never get the reward again, so I hope that you've learned your lesson.
Sorry that you had to learn the hard way but that's why you have to take the time to read.
Wish I could help but there is nothing anyone can do & Cryptic support more than likely will just ignore you.

I'm sorry to say he's gone on that character and Cryptic won't help you.

Short answer is that this is one of those hard lessons for you... any time you get a mission with red text in the description pay attention to who it selects. You will lose that doff (or those doffs if it takes multiples). Usually this means you get one in return, but as you can see it doesn't always mean you get on of equal or better Quality. Of course, this is a disadvantage of the current UI selecting all the doffs for you rather than suggesting like the old UI, but overall the old UI really was better in general... better presentation of info and lower risk.

    Yep, you lost it.

You can buy another purple DOFF that reduce the torp CD from the Omega store, it cost dil.

    Ouch!

Well, lesson learned... the first thing I did with my DOs was to execute a bunch of them. I really didnt notice they were gone, I didn't realize the officers WERE the mutineers, I thought they were the EXECUTORS.

Some things just should not even happen, but there isnt anything to do about except pay attention when doing DO assignments.

    ROFL...

Sorry this is just too funny but yeah if you make a mistake in STO you gotta deal with it because even if its Cryptic's fault they won't be accountable and show any type of favorable customer service. I feel for you though and is why I don't do much of anything in the game until its been out long enough to be workable/fixed is reason why I keep tabs on the game via website/forum but as far as logging into the game I won't do it for awhile being what it is right now is just too boring but hopefully you can atleast redo the episode and get the law doff back.

I dunno how much time and expense you have invested in this character but if there's no cheap replacement for him and you really want him back is a character delete/restart an option? I'm not saying it's a good option, but it is *an* option :)

Apart from his picture and name, he is nothing special. You can get his ability elsewhere, from random officers, and its not an expensive ability (nor a terribly useful one in the grand scheme of most builds). Live and learn.

any time you get a mission with red text in the description pay attention to who it selects.
Can you confirm that all of the duty officer assignments which result in the loss of a non-common duty officer actually have the red warning text?

Also, and this is aimed at any developer reading the thread, can we get the red warning text at the beginning of the assignment description, rather than at the end. It's not always as prominent as I assume it is expected to be.

PS: If betazoids weren't so often dropped with one trait, the officer exchange assignments wouldn't even be worth including in the game, except to troll unwary players.

    A useful response for the O/P :)

I know as a lazy, casual f2p'er how much these mistakes can hurt though. A purple doff to send off slaving over a hot mission is always nice.. I guess it would only cost a few k Dil to upgrade whites to a purple with the guy at the academy :)
