Despite the 15 sec timer still appearing, the assignments now finish instantly.
Looks like a bug from the last patch. Before Cryptic nerfs this little blessing, convert your extra marks now! Save yourself the pain!
What they need to do is make a slider style system where you can exchange the amount that you want. So that be 50, 150, 359, 1545, etc or all of your marks as an example. There is no reason not to make this type of quality of life improvement considering that there is still the 8k refining cap per day.

Except if they can make you grind twice for the awards you earned -- why not do that instead?
First you grind to earn then you grind to process .
It's simply twice the fun!

I've noticed this happen before on two separate occasions a few weeks apart. The first time i noticed it was a month or so ago. I logged onto a Rom-Fed toon or a Fed toon i forget which and it was instant. I thought it was a new change so i went nuts on that toon and converted a bunch. But when i switched to a KDF toon and tried converting a bunch too but it wasnt instant. That's when i figured that maybe it was just a bug. Since i've reported bugs before with quest issues and whatnot and a year later those bugs still exist in game i pretty much said "TRIBBLE you devs" and didnt bother to file a bug report for this particular issue. But even though it was instant it was still a PITA to convert several thousand marks so i didnt bother taking advantage of it. Anyways it went away but then a few weeks later i noticed it again in game. I still didnt bother reporting it because whatevers. And then here it is again happening again.
you silly people turning in your marks now just because there is a timer bug, I would rather wait till the next dilithium weekend and get 50% bonus even if it means I have to suffer the timer.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I never wait on the timer. Start turning in marks on one rep go to the next, start that one go to next and so on. By the time you get back to the first it is done, collect dil, repeat.
I always wait for the dil weekend so I have marks on all my reps to turn in.

Some people have 10,000's of marks. Anything that removes the time gate is worth it. If Cryptic offered mass turn in at a 25% loss many players would take that in a heart beat.
I always wondered why Mark conversion didn't take place in the Rep Store, like the old widget conversion, rather than the godawful timered version. All that accomplishes is...

...that. Which will also be "re-balanced" as Mark conversion was rewarding a disproportionately high amount of dilithium compared to other activities during the Dilithium Bonus Weekend; too many players were engaging in non-game activities and converting Marks rather than playing the actual game, while receiving a greater reward for their time than players engaging in game activities. It was felt that this unuly penalized players that did choose to engage in game activities, so the Bonus Dilithium Weekend will now only apply its bonus to mission rewards earned during the Event, similar to the recent correction to stockpiled Mark Crates.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I would really appreciate a QoL slider though. I have no hope of ever converting all of my marks because TRIBBLE the timers and the absolutely asinine time gate. It takes forever. I'd rather be able to queue up all my marks and then wait a month for the project to finish.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
If it benefits the players, do us all a favor and don't post it on the STO forums. Share the word in-game, since we know the devs don't actually play the game they won't see it there.
Yeah, now do that 440 times in a row. If I wanted to convert all of my omega marks into dilithium for example, it would literally take 132 hours. ONE HUNDRED THIRTY TWO HOURS. If I wanted to convert all of my omega marks + all of my dyson marks we're looking at 288 hours. Twelve solid days of nonstop converting with no sleep and no stopping for bathroom breaks. **** that.
**** that.
And that is exactly what Cryptic wants. They have deliberately created a system that is so unfathomably tedious to use that a great percentage of players will just give up and not even bother with it, thus driving them into Cryptic's arms, buying Zen to sell for dilithium because it's far, far less of a hassle than converting marks 50 at a time.

could have taken way less time if you started while you earned them.

Never heard of dil event I suppose ?
And even if we start as soon as we have them, we still have a lot and of project to fill, and a lot of 15s to wait.
I have 700+omega mark (only omega, I also have others) on one of my character. That's 20+project, and 300s (5minute) to wait for a stupid timer to go away.
I'll never understand player that defend a system which is flawed by itself, and could be so much simpler than that. Seriously, what's the advantage of what we have now, vs trading all our marks for dil instantaneously ? Because I can see a lot of advantage for that one.

you hear that cryptic you can only do it during the dil event better stop doing em so people remember you can do them other times. I'll never understand how players turn bonuses into burdens.
oh and I'm fine ether way. timer or no.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

... mos def working as intended ...
Now, I wish I could convert all my marks to the appropriate amount of dil, instead of slotting the project 50times in a row.
NO only at DIL weekend
but why wait 15s anyway? fiux the bug: remove the timer

After all, wanting something is better than having something... or did I hear that wrong?

I have given them an alternative, that would work to benefit both actually but, they haven't bothered to implement it yet.

I think this is what happened. It doesn't work for me anymore. Oh well.
Sorry everyone.
