When the first featured episodes came out " cold war " and, the breen set was really useful at level 11 ( oh an the the patching issues when the episodes were released ).
...get those little Gekli... Gekkli... y'know what I'm talking about that often overlooked sector off of Borg space that was SO off the beaten path.
"It's easy to cling to principles when you're standing on a vessel with its bulkheads intact, manned by a crew that's not starving."
...you know, that the actual ESD is the third one in existence.
...you asked "where is Sulu?" on ESD local after entering with your first character and at least 15 minutes of unsuccessful searching.
...you remember that skilling phaser/disruptor damage did cost 100 and antiproton 500 skillpoints.
...science was OP in pvp and the +30 science consoles were green (and then nerfed to +15)
...you remember doing your (story) missions in PUGs
...you remember the har'peng torpedo launcher was a device
...you remember that SB24 has had a ground part and you played/finished it.
...you remember the level cap was at 40 (RA LH) and there was nothing to do after cardassian arc/DS9 (no STFs, no puple gear, nada)
...you remember the ground part of "researcher rescue" causing megalags on your rig - no matter how powerful it was.
...you remember that leveling a KDF-toon was only possible by pvp and cluster mission grind, you did that - despite of roughly half of the cluster missions bugged/uncompletable)
...you remember that the sector space entities (klingons/romulans/cardassians and later borg) could draw you into a sector-space defence action when the catched you in sector space (which was a nice anti-afk-functionality, since many of the sector defences have had bad starting points, where you immediately have been zerged by the npc-ships)
...you remember Viral matrix being op - in pvp or when fighting D'Deridexes.
...you remember FBP being dangerous - in pvp or when fighting Galors
...you remember mines being OP - people soloing CC by mine spam
...you remember transphasics being useless (and people desperately trying to make them work)
...you remember dieing through: Gorn Minefield (lots of gorn ships zerging), Romulan Temple (lots of romulans/remans zerging), Breaking the Planet (lots of klingons zerging) and later through the first part of Infected STF (lots of borg spheres zerging)
...you remember the silly marks requirements for the first purple gear in the shop at the task force (52 marks for one shield ...that time you got 2 marks for a successful STF +20hours cooldown)
...you remember running Cure (ground part) the whole map - from far left to far right.
...you remember Kithomer ground happened (ingame) hours before you came down on the surface during the tutorial (kith ground was actually a travel back in time through the portal one defends in kith space) - and there was that end-fight against donatra after the ground part.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
When you used the foundry to exploit the leveling process..... I mean... when you used the foundry to exploit dilithium grinding... no wait....
When you remember a time that Klingon wasn't being interrogated in front of Naomi Wildman on K-7. (Seriously... let the poor TRIBBLE go. He won't crack.)
When you could one-shot the Crystalline Entity by using ramming speed against it.
When Viral Matrix was the most destructive bridge officer power in the game.
When your level cap cruisers of choice was the Assault Cruiser and Star Cruiser... when the escorts were the Advanced Escort and Fleet Escort... and Deep Space Science Vessel and Reconnaissance Science Vessel. That was it.
When Season 1 was going to cause STO to die within 6 months.
...You can remember when nobody cared, or even asked about a Top-Level Constitution Class Ship.
(because you could use it throughout the entire game without dying)

When you realize that A&E needs a sto edition of "Hoarders" because you have items like a Bat'leth with a borg mod that you can never risk attempting to upgrade as you will loose the modifier, a Hargh'peng device that you can put in a device slot that you can never use since you cannot replace it and a Force field key to disable the force field to get into the next section of the ds9 map in a fleet action that has not been around since the days of Atari.
