Good luck on that, PWE customer service has about 30 interns for all games/services.
All of the interns dont know TRIBBLE, nor do they care about you cause......
The west coast is being battered by the worst storm in years (according to weather.com).
Those blaming cryptic for everything need to take a good look around and visit some weather/news sites before passing judgement on something cryptic cannot control.
The Pineapple Express - Great timing.
Hope the flooding isn't too bad and they can weather it well.
What happened to those unique forum ranks I paid for?

I don't "blame" Cryptic for anything other than their complete lack of Customer Service. But I still suspect that this issue is not related to the weather... Just my 2¢ worth.
Severe rainfall and flooding in San Francisco Bay Area........
Cryptic Studios server farm building was last seen floating down main street, Stephen D'Angelo on the roof rowing fiercely trying to steer it to safety...He could be heard mumbling We just rolled out another update!! over and over....:eek::eek:

Cause its always the same story?
Fix 1 bug, break 3 more things...
Random server deaths/disconnects...
Its getting pretty usual to see trouble each week
That's right if they tested it they would have know is was F-ed.
They ether didn't test or knew and didn't care and doped it in anyway ...
If it was the former they where useless and lazy .... if the ladder they where trying to stop something we where doing.
Ether way here we are agan 3:07 now no game play...:mad:
In my career in Silicon Valley, I've been with Fortune 500 companies which did NOT have backup power generators for their data centers. (I'm not naming them specifically. Don't ask.)
Not everyone applies five 9's uptime preparation -- or common sense.
That is quite surprising and somewhat unbelievable out of the sever dozens I've worked at I have not come across one that does'nt have backup generators.

wow...it is now hours ... still red light ... why do patches create such problems.... twiddling my thumbs
I'm really not saying this to be mean - but my guess is part of the reason might be skipping other known issues. This mounts up over time and - BAM. That or challenges in whatever they use for Quality Control.
If the outage caused by the storm occurred during the server patch, then expect the server to be down for a while since that probably means the server will have to be patched again.
What Smirk is saying is vague at best. And that's the my main issue with using twitter. It has conditioned many of you to accept this level of communication. And you simply fill in the blanks as you go along. But many of us find this unacceptable.
Now I can imagine many scenarios where the weather could affect the servers. But most responsible companies should have also have plans for how to deal with the same. So all I want to know is when the servers will be back up? And if the downtime continues to be extended... How will Cryptic compensate for that fact?
What am I talking about? Well we are in the midst of the Winter Wonderland. And since its release a week ago none of my characters have been able to complete Tides of Ice in a consistent fashion. So what if the fixes, stated in the patch notes, fail to "fix" this issue? Time is precious at this time of year.
I, and most other members of the STO community, simply cannot be expected to log in to STO every day between now and January 15th. So the clock is ticking. And since some have been able to unlock all the items they want. And others like myself, through no fault of our own, have not. Its not fair to us to simply allow "circumstances" to bar us reaching our goals.
Now I do see in the patch notes that they do seem to have made some allowances for these facts. And I'm grateful for their consideration. I just want, quite desperately, to verify that the scheduled fixes are performing as intended. Because my time to play in this season is rapidly running out.

It's not unbelievable. It's the truth. I'm hesistant to share specifics, as those public companies are still in business. The one that surprised me the most was a Fortune 100 company. And no redundancy elsewhere for that particular setup, either. (At least some companies have multiple locations.) When it went down, it was down... until the power returned.
In various cases, I find sometimes the bigger the company, the more short cuts are taken. Highly profitable does not translate into sound business practices.

The titles got reset at some point and I believe it is the forum default setting now!

Hopefully. I don't like delays either, but I'm not going to complain. No sense in complaining about things out of my control.

Flash floods they say?
Been experiencing them all week long down here on the east coast.
Best put on your rubbers, a sturdy raincoat and carry on.
When you have a good ole fashioned east coast blizzard, complain about the havoc. But only for a minute, less we stone you with snowballs. :P
Oh, so you don't get payed either? Well, maybe you are able to color your title in gold, it would at least look fancy!
