LOL, originally, Risian Swimwear was wearable anywhere. Then the devs "fixed" it. Originally the swimwear was saved as a regular Uniform item. When the "fix" came it became Swimwear. But existing uniform slots with the original Uniform save slot couldn't be affected, until the player saves over that slot again.

So in other words OP, Cryptic did make the fix

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Let me just make it clear that while I do roll my eyes at "Captain Johnson" wearing a speedo in the winter event, I'd rather have ZERO costume restrictions.

Cryptic, please stop nerfing fun in this game. You've done enough of that already. Let lose on some of these pointless restrictions, including the que-only access to FAs and STFs.

yes i want that kind of boots next year and i want that they are off duty + uniform and i want to use it on my orion femlaes instead of sandals - like intel boots can be.

Meh. The whole thing is a Q production, so it probably isn't actually as cold as it looks ;)
Meh. Its a videogame, snow not being cold isn't anything unexpected. Fire isn't hot either, unless it was started by an enemy. :D

As said, this fun but unintentional feature was quickly resolved and rebranded as a bug fixed; its not possible to create new unrestricted swimwear outfit slots since about a few days after the Summer Event started. One of the rare moments where QA neglecting proper KDF testing lead to a better gaming experience & also (shamefully) one of the rare moments where a non game-breaking bug was fixed in lightspeed instead of never in some cases.

If anyone from Cryptic reads this: If you instead of spending time/energy for removing the swimwear unrestricted feature to, lets say, the nasty bug the prevents players to set up a bridge they spend money on on a fleet-ship they spend money on because they don't also spend money once more on the c-store version of that ship (i.e. fleet corsair) you would have gotten far more favourable responses...

    Ques:

Entry into FAs and STF type missions should not be restricted to ques. In Neverwinter, people can access group missions via the location, and have the option to solo. I miss the good old days of being able to have that option HERE in STO. It's no secret the que system is flawed! Bring back the location entry options.

    Stop restricting players.

    1/Move to the stf entrance
    2/Queue the STF
    3/???
    4/Profit.

I understand some STF (especially the new ones) doesn't have any entrance. But you can always go to the general direction. IE DQ for borg disconnected/bug hunt, borg space for the hive...

    Problem solved, next question ?

some actually do have locations. only a few though. the newer ones never had start points, and the old ones well.... aren't the same as they used to be.

But then here the question. Since swimsuits are only intended to Risa. ¿does people using it on Winter Event are abusing an exploit? And, if that is the case ¿would be they punished like the people that was "abusing an exploit" in tau dewa? ¿or there is explloits goods and exploits bads for cryptic?

The punishment will be They take away your swimsuit and you have to run around NAKED!!

The only outfit restrictions that MIGHT make sense is if Starfleet requires officers to wear uniforms at Starfleet facilities, ESD particularly, otherwise what's the harm in wearing whatever you want?

I actually wonder about the logic of the breen in the winter event. For example, we see the breen still wearing their full body armour and helmet, but they are supposedly from a cold planet, so should the breen be wearing lsummer clothes, maybe even going o'naturale?

But their suits are designed to keep their cold IN. They take it off and we all may insta-freeze.

If you have ever seen a Breen without their suits, you'd know why they keep them on!

Look at your logic dude, as you said they have the suits to keep cold, Winter wonderland is cold.

Hence, they don't need the suits!

What irks me is the double standard. It's verboten for us to wear swimwear anywhere, and yet, orion females can't wear next to nothing wherever they please. Not cool, Cryptic, not cool.

I remember the last swimsuit war with about 10 threads about this. I would rather have one old rotten can barely walk zombie thread than 20 fresh runners up and about.

I think the OP brings up a sort of hidden point which is...why is Cryptic even spending its time on such ridiculousness at all...and that INCLUDES the preposterous winter event itself?!!!

Instead of gathering Andorian sleigh bells and gingerbread men, why not actually make the Breen home world and have missions on it? You know...something that would appeal to a Star Trek fan playing a Star Trek game.

Instead we have "Cold-hearted snowmen are attacking Gingerbread Colony! Team up to rescue Q's tasty colonists and recover their recipes." And it all takes place in Q's winter wonderland...swell. Where's the grab for Star Trek immersion? How is any of this like Star Trek with the exception of Q being in it or because your character is dressed like a Star Trek guy?

    Who's thinking this up?

And players will mindlessly repeat these ridiculous so-called missions so they can get 1000 sleigh bells and ornaments to get a new ship.

    The whole thing is sad.

I'm all for the Christmas Spirit and all, but this is Star Trek..not winter wonderland snowball fight mission world.

I never gave it much thought and treated the Winter event as a given, but a while ago I came across this album and then I realised how un-Star Trek like this whole event actually is.

You're right, while the rewards are nice and the whole event looks good when considering the art and the diversity of content, having an event that actually has something to do with Star Trek would be much better. Perhaps on Andoria.
