if a lightsaber cuts thru everything, that would be #1 for sure. SW lore has at least one material it cannot cut, and if every trek NPC had armor made from it, it would be useless, but if we just get to cut people to bits, absolutely.
all sorts of other things seem neat ground-side .. a rail gun, like from quake or whatever, perhaps... or a electricity zapper gun.... it really just depends on how they interact with armor and shields. Shield inversion module (turns your shield into an aoe attack, but it loses its protection). On and on
Since you bring up Andromeda, an M-lash would be great, so long as full training came with it. Wouldn't want to vivsect my guy on a molecular level.
...Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you / Oh, I can hear it callin 'me / I said don't you hear it callin' me the way it used to do?...

For my ship, the turian cannon from Mass Effect 2 - the one that fires molten metal at relativistic velocities. Good luck adapting to that, cube-boy!
For a melee weapon, a variable-sword from Larry Niven's Known Space series. A Sinclair molecular monofilament, stiffened by a stasis field adapted from Slaver tech, which can be extended anywhere from six inches to three feet from the hilt (the only way to know how far it is is by looking for the little red safety bead at the end of the thread), capable of slicing through just about anything by virtue of its monofilament sliding between molecules...

That be the Thanix cannon
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

Yes, I realize #2 isn't a weapon in the general sense.
I won't need a second choice.
