iam in winter wonderland iam fine but when i go to snowman borg invasion my game just crash and close for the rest of winterland event is fine

    This has happened to me twice now. Both times I was in the middle of the Tides of Ice run.

    Didn't even get the cryptic crash reporter open, it just completely died and I got the windows pop up to say the program had crashed.

    Add me to this list as well. Additionally going to the bug report after crashing to desk top is not consistant, sometimes its there sometimes its not. I'm all to do all the rest of the events but this one. I've also lowered all my settings to the minimum and it made no difference. I hope that this is a very limited issue.

    One of my fleet mates suggested setting memory limit for GPU to 1024+ instead of auto. Have now managed three runs of it without a crash. Not sure if that's fixed it or if I just got lucky with those runs as the previous crash causing runs had a good run in between them.

    So, turns out it's not limited to the Tides of Ice mission.

    I've crashed twice today whilst not even in the Wonder Land map. Once I was just transwarping to Defera, the next time I was in the middle of Federation Fleet Alert... Neither my graphics settings, or my drivers, have been changed.

    Can those of you experience these crashes let us know what graphics card you're using?

    GeForce GT640 2GB version
    In case it's of use, I'm running Version 344.11 drivers. (Older yes, but newer ones are very unstable with every game so I reverted, and the crashes only started happening after the patch yesterday afternoon.)

    So far I've mostly been playing on one character because of the gated content in wonderland. Though the crash happened once earlier on another character.

    Main culprit: Eldaxon@khamseen
    Second toon it happened on Zaar@khamseen

    Crash every other run of Tides of Ice, or any queued event after a run of TOI that didn't cause a crash.

    Using: Geforce GTX 760 x2

    This was not an issue before yesterday's patch for me either.

    Can those of you experience these crashes let us know what graphics card you're using?

    NOTE: I only played in one toon last night. However, the additional problems I describe at the bottom of my post occur before login even completes.



    I got extremely close to a CTD in Tides of Ice--got the greyed-out window that you see such as when your browser is about to crash, but I backed off really fast on clicking stuff and lucked out, it resolved itself but seeing as it got so close to a crash I felt this might be useful.

    When it happened, I was in the middle of a Tides and had opened up the in-game Options menu to shut off the music. Yes, I know that is not good battle tactics to do that mid-wave. It should not, however, push the game to the brink of a crash. But I think you know or you wouldn't have asked.

    My laptop is still very new and as it happens, is still being sold. I am hoping it will be helpful to you to have an example where you can see full machine specs--not just the graphics card but everything else:

    As you can see while this is not a gaming-specific laptop this is still nothing to sneeze at specs-wise.

    IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFO AND OTHER CRASH: Since DR, most every time a patch comes out, I have to open the game the first few days in Safe mode and reset my graphics settings manually or it hangs permanently on the Delta Rising screen. When I first got this laptop in mid-September 2014, I found the game refused to load unless I had an updated driver (which I oddly never encountered on a 3.5 year old Dell XPS). So I am very careful about updating my graphics driver so I can conclusively rule that out as the problem. If I fail to do a driver update on time, I often get a bluish screen and cannot even get to the DR screen. The behavior I described earlier is with a fully updated driver.

    Yesterday--the same day as my near-CTD in Tides, my game actually did a full CTD in safe mode because I quickly maximized my window, apparently before the character selection screen had loaded 100%. I never got an error-reporting window or error code. Second load-in was OK after I waited a few seconds on the character screen before maximizing.


    I am hoping providing all of this will assist not just in resolving yesterday's issue but also in making it so that a reasonably high-end, new laptop like mine will not have to jump through hoops to get in game on a regular basis.

    I've had 2 or 3 randomish crashes, usually in the middle of a ToI run, with no cryptic error reporter after the crash.

    Running ye olde Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB with most settings set to max (yes a card that old can actually handle most settings that high).

    I've had a three random crashes to desktop since the last patch during games (general doffing and during a couple of PvE queue runs) during a fairly short session (hour or so yesterday). Neither produced a cryptic error tracker. May or may not be related to the OP's issue, but as someone else noted there having crashing issues generally throughout the game it might be the same issue and so help to track down the cause.

    Hardware wise I'm running a GeForce 560Ti with version 344.75 drivers.

    As a side note as it may or may not be related (so hopefully it might help track down the problem), ever since Delta Rising launched I've been experiencing periodic graphics driver crashes when running STO. Initially had the game running under DirectX 11 which would cause a hard crash and cryptic error tracker, after switching to DirectX 9 its just causing the game to lock for 20 seconds or so before the driver stops responding and restarts itself without causing the game to crash out.

    I use the GT 640.

    I crash as in freeze up completely and have to reboot the PC, just by being in the Winter Land map.

    Though I have been crashing in STO they same way for the last 20 months on any character, maybe it could be fixed for good with more than just me having this problem.

    Have not run it with every character, but have had it crash on at least 8 different toons from all factions with the @xablis handle.

    Ok, so fifth crash in today, this time standing perfectly still just chatting with a fleet mate. Decided to check the Windows Event Viewer to see if it could shed any light. Every single crash has had this recorded for it, may or may not be of any help to you in tracking this down but I felt it didn't hurt to share it since the Cryptic Crash Reporter isn't triggering.

    While taking a break from the Tides of Ice grind today I noticed that the crashing no longer seems tied to the tides, now it is every other time I do something, i.e. run a mission then hop into a queued mission, client crashes. Do a mission or queue, then jump in for a TOI, crash within the first few waves. I've taken to completely exiting and logging back in between everything I do now to avoid the client crashes, and yet I still occasionally crash on the first run of something after logging back in, especially TOI.
    Thinking I may need to resort to 2 minutes per day of STO for a while (to get one "fastest game on ice" run in toward the new ship) until this issue is resolved.

    So played a number of hours over the weekend so far and here's my observations.

    Seems to happen to most of my characters.
    Seems particularly common when I've run Crystaline Entity Elite (I reckon I've had crashes on something like 5 of 5 runs about 20 seconds in).
    Seems less common on ground maps for me, only instance of a crash on a ground map was beaming into the Defera Invasion map as the beam in fx ran.

    Faulting process id's seem to change between some crashes, but other than that most of the info seems the same between crashes so hopefully that might help track the cause down. As per my previous post, it seems to be something that changed in the latest build as I wasn't getting the hard crashes prior to this build going live.

    My "Game Client has stopped working" about two minutes into every single queue I run. Everything plays 100% fine, the queue pops, I join, about two or so minutes in the game crashes. Every single time, without fail. Once I get back in it runs fine, until the next time I want to run something.

    Hey,

    I also crash more often since the patch of 5/12/14. The game crash to desktop.
    It happened to me in particular when I enter in the Crystalline Catastrophe but not only.

    My graphic card is an ATI 6990M, I am on a laptop.

    Same problem here. Posted in another thread but this sounds like the same problem.

    Definitely not limited to 'tides of ice'. happens just about anywhere there's a lot of action going on or when changing zones. Started in the last week or 2 so it's definitely something recent.

    Graphics card = AMD Radeon HD 5800 (x2 w/ Crossfire)

    Please fix this. it's getting very irritating losing out on rewards and whatnot when i'm crashing so frequently.

    Seeing a similar issue here. I've only crashed twice in the winter event zone so far, but it seems consitent in the Crystalline Entity queue so far. Trouble is there doesn't seem to be anything that really sets it off; the CE queue crash can happen at any point during the queue, and the two winter zone crashes were while standing around near Q and while doing the daily quest, not near the Tides of Ice event/area.

    Same thing is happening with my system. It's happening under all toons, and most notably when running something like Crystaline Catastrophe and Tides of Ice.

    I tried running both inside and outside of ARC, I've cleaned my registry, uninstalled STO and reinstalled, and it contiues to happen. The problem didn't start occurring on my system until after the 12/4/14 patch cycle.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    as of yesterday, mines been crashing constantly, regardless of the time or where i am. I was in winter wonderland and it crashed after getting into an advanced bug hunt, but then crashed less than a minute after getting back into the game. I was still even in the same bug hunt that crashed me the first time.
