While his death is never mentioned in the series he would be 183 in the game's current timeline. I am certain he is well dead - as he looked near-death in his appearance in episode 1 of TNG. :)

Actually that brings me to the second part of my original question: What is human life expectancy in Trek at this point? Anyone know?

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

Memory Alpha states the average human lifespan is 120 in the 24th century. McCoy was an exception at 137.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Well, aren't you just a fountain of knowledge and occasionally chastisement.

Now I'm sad ol' Leonard is dead though.

I'd just like to say that age03 and atlantra should have a child together, I want to see if the universe could hold up under the strain of that much nonsense.

OT: I'd really like to see something about guinan/her race/their involvement with Q

OMG that is a truly scary thought....

OT: Yeah, soft canon really had some interesting exploration of Guinan's people and the history with the Borg although seemingly not as much with Q. There is a Next Gen novel called Vendetta that I can heartily recommend, at least for the Borg details.

Why don't you go where the sun doesn't shine and and quit adding to flames as this is nothing but a care bearer thread. Nothing to do with Trek itself.

I would, but I'd hate to force you out of your cozy little spot there. And the only thing non trek about this thread my dearest, is you :P

Ooookay..... so the events in 'Generations' never happened. Right.
Since his "echo" is in the Nexus, and since time doesn't exist in the Nexus, he could theoretically be "recovered" from it as many times as necessary.

However, I say let the poor sod rest in peace. We have a galaxy full of Kirks now, running around violating the Prime Directive everywhere they go. We don't need him any more, really.

No, Guinan explicitly ruled that out. She was an echo, not the person. She wasn't able to leave and help Picard because she was already there. There's only one Guinan, and only one Kirk. One tends a bar, the other is dead.

Guinan actually directed Picard to Kirk specifically because he was someone who might be willing to help and physically existed.

STO is in a completely different universe from the TV series. Therefore, STO canon is canon to only STO. If a new Star Trek TV series set after Nemesis happens, then it is not canon to STO. Since STO and the Prime Universe are completely different universes, then events before Nemesis can easily occur like Iconians are actually the good guys in the Prime Universe and didn't enslave the Dewans or build the Dyson Sphere to attack their enemies. Obviously, that scenario is dependent on what the writers of that TV series decide and they could easily make them the evil masterminds.

I think you're in the wrong thread.
