I'm recovering/saving my stuff from the now-defunct DOOOM Thread and this seemed apropos for here...

    "Delta Rising Arrived"

(sung to the tune from "American Pie")

Not, so very, long ago..., I can still remember...
How that Cryptic, used to make me smile.
And I knew, if They took a chance,
That They could make a new expanse,
And maybe make us happy for awhile.

But Delta Rising makes us shiver.
With every blog that They deliver.
    Bug news on the forums,
    Is pizzing off the quorums.

I can't remember what They implied,
When I, read about what They described.
As something great, would soooon arise.
The days before, Delta Rising, arrived.

    [Chorus]
    So bye-bye, Cryptic alibis.
Drove my Connie to the quadrant, but that game it just died.
And their "Hamster-drive" it was completely fried.
Flingin' bits of rodents so ultra-high.
    Bits of rodents, so ultra-high.

    [Verse 1]
They did write the Book of STO.
And had so much faith in that Gecko.
Cause he said..., "Make it So."

Now do you believe that S-T-O,
Can save your mortal gaming soul.
And can you teach me, how to reach, Mr. Ta-coOOoo?

Well I know, that he's not at the gym.
    'Cause we're here, at a Trek Con-ven-tion.
    We all are so bemused,
    By those "Delta Rising" blues.

I've been an avid Star Trek gaming buck,
    Blissfully raising my Winter Epohhs.
But I knew I was out of luck,
    The day, "Delta Rising" struck.

    [Chorus]
I started singing, bye-bye, Cryptic alibis.
Drove my Connie to the quadrant, but that game it just died.
And Their "Hamster-drive" it was completely fried.
Flingin' bits of rodents so ultra-high.
    Bits of rodents, so ultra-high.

    [Verse 2]
Now for three years, it's been a grind-stone.
    Di-lith-i-um we've all bemoaned.
But that's not how it used to be.

When DStahl gave us his future dreams.
In a forum blessed by A-TAR-RI.
We all just listened quite gleefully.

Oh, and while we all were quite spellbound,
    ATARI shopped the game around.
    The sale it was confirmed.
Perfect World will make us all squirm.

And while Emmert made his sad remarks,
P-W-E was planning in the dark.
And we looked forward to seeing Quark.
    The day "Delting Rising" arrived.

    [Chorus]
We were singin' bye-bye, Cryptic alibis.
Drove my Connie to the quadrant, but that game it just died.
And Their "Hamster-drive" it was completely fried.
Flingin' bits of rodents so ultra-high.
    Bits of rodents, so ultra-high.

    [Verse 3]
Helter skelter the game was altered.
Our ships flew round while the hamsters faltered.
    Free-to-Play was coming fast.
It landed like a photon blast.
The players tried to stand steadfast,
But the RNG had all been previously cast.

Now Cryptic tried to stay the DOOM.
While DStahl played his last good-bye-tune.
    We got our first expanse,
Oh, but Rommies never had a chance.

'Cause players tried to make appeals
But the Cryptic Devs refused to yield.
Do you recall what was revealed.
    The day "Delta Rising" arrived.

    [Chorus]
We started singin' bye-bye, Cryptic alibis.
Drove my Connie to the quadrant, but that game it just died.
And Their "Hamster-drive" it was completely fried.
Flingin' bits of rodents so ul-tra-high.
    Bits of rodents, so ul-tra-high.

    [Verse 4]
Oh, and there we were all ready for space.
Unable to log-in to Their database.
With no chance to get at our crewmen.
So come on, 'Q' be nimble, 'Q' be quick.
    Even 'Q' can't fix what's so 'cryptic'.
'Cause "Cogent" is the devils greatest friend.

Oh, and as we tried to say "Engage"
While forum posting all in a rage.
    No Redshirt born in Hell.
    Could break that Cryptic spell.

And as the forums raged throughout the night.
To tell the players unearthly plight.
I saw Geko laughing in the faint starlight.
    The day "Delta Rising" arrived.

    [Chorus]
He was singin', bye-bye, you forum sam-urai.
Drive your Connie's to the quadrant, cause the game it's just fine.
And Our "Hamster-drive" is completely divine.
Never saying that I might have just lied.
    Saying that you all dra-ma-tize.

    [Outro]
    I met a girl who played a Ba'ku.
And asked her for some happy news.
But she just smiled and turned away.
So I went to the sacred C-Store,
Where I bought some ZEN the year before.
But the website said no Euros here today.

And in the threads, the players screamed,
The Klingons roared and the Feddies dreamed.
But not a Dev had spoken.
The 'STO' queues all were broken.

And the captains I admire most
Picard, The Kirk and Archers' Ghost.
    They caught the 'Nexus' goal-post.
    The day "Delta Rising" arrived.

And they were singin' bye-bye, Cryptic alibis.
Drove my Connie to the quadrant, but that game it just died.
And Their "Hamster-drive" it was completely fried.
Flingin' bits of rodents so ul-tra-high.

    Word of advice...

If you guys would like to keep this thread going then every single post and every link in it needs to avoid breaking forum rules.

No flaming, trolling, hate speech, obscenity, etc. Any post that gets a valid complaint will be taken down.

    That's reasonable...

Can we get the DOOOM Thread back to compensate for our fairly good behavior here?

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

Thanks - oddly, it came to me in a dream.

Actually a nightmare - I decided to try and play through DNF again, and realized it was the worst sequel ever and the players hated it.

Inspired by one of my favorite YouTube channels...

Edit: Voporak, if this ends up in the next video, it should be the last image for enhanced comic effect. ;)
