Hmm...it's not so much a story as a vignette that is coming to mind, of some unlikely-seeming Christmas celebrants. Might actually go in for an LC if I can make the dates work right. Somebody's going to have to compromise on the date they celebrate, since two of the people I have in mind would say Christmas is on 25 December whereas for one, by 2410 Christmas will fall on 10 January.

Heh, I'm going to pack as many religions as possible in here, including at least two parody religions, and go from there...

But it's mainly about a mildly grumpy security chief dodging mistletoe.

This feels like the October Halloween entry but with winter holidays in place of Halloween. It looks like some outside-the-box thinking will be necessary.

Not sure if I can come up with anything, but I'll definitely read what other people come up with.

    And interesting challenge. :)

The critical trick for me is that due to the timeframe, completing this challenge entails completing a very old LC along with it, that I never finished back in the day--and that's the "revenge of Betazed" LC (was it #58?) that my story chronology has taking place in the period running up to the Russian Orthodox Christmas season in January 2410...

I can twist this into a story I've been writing. Oh my, poor crew of the Viper.

Shouldn't be too hard to set some sort of drama around the holidays. Or with the holidays in the background, remember, "Charlie X" was at Thanksgiving.

Commercial "Christmas" is such a mess in ways I can't go into in this format...let's just say that Charlie Brown had it right as to what the difference is.

I feel you...they started selling decorations in AUGUST near where I live this year. >_<

Alright, I've fit 12-plus holidays into my story, including three from obvious parody religions, 4 or 5 from various alien races, and one Ha'ni festival that really isn't relevant at all and has a name that is painful for most humanoids to pronounce but is there anyway because of writer fiat.

And Rachel is grumpy about the mistletoe, because let's face it, it really is kind of creepy.

    ...

    I don't even...

(Seriously, TEHO, but you are leaving me shaking my head in confusion here)

Please tell me you at least like the Grinch--the original, not the godawful remake.

Also, any thoughts on my latest story?

    I absolutely loathe Dr Seuss...

It was quite fun (except for the Church of Tennant references) but I would say to be mindful not to let Rachel become another Three, in terms of narrative device  A nice piece though

Well, my philosophy is TEHO, but you're breaking my heart here, man.

What about...Calvin & Hobbes holiday comics?

I thought it was funny to have Church of Tennant references, you can't say anything even remotely critical about him here on campus even in jest without getting swarmed.

As in, some people overheard me talking about the David Tennant in "The Five(ish) Doctors, Rebooted" (played by David Tennant in ruthless self-parody), and went ballistic. I got accused of liking Stephen Moffat's writing...>_<

As for Rachel...she's supposed to be a normal, decent person, not unlike a friend who's in the military, who woke up one day to find that a monster had turned her into a weapon without her consent. She is VERY much into free will and respecting people's bodies and space, much like Omek, D'trel, and myself*.

Did you like Talur? He's a Mauve Shirt I'm building up for a minor character arc.

*As in, I asked permission to pull a friend off of my other friend/roommate while we were sort of roughhousing in my dorm room because I didn't want to touch her without her consent.

Never actually read one, so no opinion there, but the others have never done anything for me. I also hate the Muppets (but loved Seasame Street)

TEHO of course, but for me, it was an incongruous breach of the fourth wall/cross franchise which I'd have found more understandable (but no less jarring) in a Three related piece ;)

Oh that I get about Rachel, I'm just concerned she may become 'ThreeLite' in terms of a personal avatar. Not that she is yet, I'm just concerned that the potential is there, so be mindful of it

Peanuts in general never really did anything for me, although I would have to admit a similarity to Linus

The bit that made me laugh out loud (a rare quality) was:
It had taken throwing Private Kortar through a bulkhead to make everyone but the Klingons stop. The Klingons took it as an invitation. Damn Klingons.

That's actually canon; Klingon intercourse is equal parts fighting and doing it, and punching someone in the face is considered an invitation to mate.

    Klingons are awesome. :D

Much better ^_^ Equally, I forget if you read Spires of Pentaxia, but he was who I had in mind when writing the drunken noble at the banquet :D
