They fixed Embassy boffs?!

meimeitoomeimeitoo Member Posts: 12,594 Arc User
  • Resolved an issue where Romulan Bridge Officers which were traded ended up with missing body parts.
  • Costume pieces available for all factions can be worn by these Bridge Officers.

^^ This is a major thing! Thank you! :)

Wait! Embassy boffs are meant to be customizable? My world has been rocked.

Hold your horses there... I'm looking for the word "Embassy" in the patch notes but I'm not seeing it. Fingers crossed, I hope you're right because my Rommy Embassy engineer boff currently has no feet.

I thought that, according to the release notes, faction-specific uniforms cannot be used?

EDIT: Reading comprehension fail on my part. Still, it's disappointing to hear that if I buy a Romulan Embassy BOff, I won't be able to put him in a Starfleet uniform :(

Elementary, dear Watson. :) The only Rom boffs that can't be customized, and lose body parts on trade (no doubt as a result of not being customizable) are the Embassy boffs, far as I know.

So, no faction specific uniforms, but the Miner, Voth, etc. uniforms?

I am intrigued what uniforms they can use for someone who has no Lobi or rep outfits.

    Can they wear off-duty outfits?

If I had to guess, they probably mean that non-factional Romulan costume options will be available plus Lobi and rep.

It would be nice if they at least made it so that Wells/Korath:

Were wearable by Romulans, claimability based on alignment.

    Were wearable by embassy/diplo/marauding BOs.

That's the only Lobi one that not all your BOffs can use and since they're future uniforms, the restrictions seem like they could be lighter IMHO.

I must say I find the wording of these lines from the patch notes a little confusing...

      • Faction-based uniforms cannot be worn by these Bridge Officers.

To date, Embassy Boffs have not been customisable, nor to my understanding, tradeable, so the reference to uniform options makes me think this statement is in relation to non-Embassy Boffs...

If this is the case, I'm gonna be highly disappointed if I cannot customise my (non-Embassy) Romulan Boffs in Omega, Maco or (primarily) KHG uniforms on my Romulan/Reman characters...
The entitlement is strong in these forums...

Embassy boffs are tradable and usually end up broken when getting back after training.

I hope I can put them in a maco suit with helmet on to never see their ugly faces again.

Yup. Embassy boffs are most certainly tradeable! I know, cuz I had many a Tact Captain be so good as to train them for me.

And since they're not customizable, my guess is that they're losing body parts because there's no 'refresh look' upon them joining your crew again, or someting similar.

So, I *really* hope they were talking about the Embassy boffs here.

I just figured that was referring to the complaint people were making about buying Romulan/Reman BOffs from the Exchange and not being able to put ally-specific uniform parts on them.

Here's hoping it's talking about Embassy BOffs, would make my day!

I'd be thrilled if this meant - finally - we can customise an Embassy BOFF even a tiny bit.

It better be them! I really don't like the uniform that's default on them. At least my Gorn can have the KDF costumes. Though I ended up putting him in the Jem'Hadar uniform. Even with that, I'd like to be able to use other uniforms for my embassy boffs.

There are a select handful of outfit pieces that are categorized as "Uniform" but aren't faction specific. "Shirt Simple" is one example.

Hey guys. Just an up-front warning... this may only be half of the fix, in that it prevents these errors from occurring on new Boffs. I'm not certain if we also got the fix-up that will repair existing Boffs that are in a broken state. It is our intent to get them all working, but I just wanted to give you all a heads-up that this patch might not have caught all of them.

By costumes that aren't restricted to a faction, does that include armor types like Omega and Dyson? Well, guess I'll find out when I get home tonight...

Can you confirm whether this is embassy or factional?

We thought it might be embassy because of the reference to missing parts but it sounds like maybe the patch notes are talking about standard BOs. Better to adjust expectations accordingly on our end, I figure.

I hope this means that Embassy BOffs can at least use the Republic uniforms. I've held off on getting any Embassy officers because I want officers, not civilians.

Might not be in effect on old BOffs, need to get a new one. Assuming of course it's the embassy BOffs that they are referring to. Would have been nice had Borticus clarified that.

If it applies to Embassy BOffs at all, my guess would be that trading them to another player and back might fix them.

I'm thinking maybe they actually DID mean faction BOffrs and that they meant ALIGNMENT costumes can't be worn.

Hmm, these Embassy boffs are 80,000 FC a pop (and, what, like 18k Dilithium?). I have dozens of them. Replacing them is not something I look forward to. Can't you guys make like an exchange program? (Like you did for gear, a while back).

Please, confirm that we are talking about Embassy boffs here.

ok kinda odd but i got one of them to work.
    complicated steps to follow

beam to qonos go to the tailor open boff then select a rommy boff menue will be greyed out.

dont click anything else leave it as the selected boff then exit out of tailor and beam up to ship.

beam directly back down to qonos and go to tailor

open tailor and dont click any boff at all but your rommy shoudl be on display and the modify option availble.

like i said got it to work on one only couldnt get the other to work. ( i only have 2 )

    EDIT:
let me know your results as it might have jsut been a fluke since i could not do the other boff.

Aw... when I read 'fixed embassy boffs' I immediately thought 'rebalanced the selection to have a reasonably diverse set of superior operatives instead of just one blue male', but I guess the fix was purely cosmetic. Ya got my hopes up there...

maybe but they wont tell us which rommy boffs the fix was for and they say even then it may or may not work so how are we supposed to know?

Hey, just so long as we're FINALLY seeing some kind of acknowledgement that they're being (or will be at least) worked on is a major step forward. Thank you very much.

Question, can they wear Romulan uniforms? Or is that considered faction specific?
