Sorry for my role in this, people. Since Embassy boffs were the only Rom boffs losing body parts on trade, I concluded they must be talking about said Embassy boffs.
I'm not so sure, afterall the lobi Rom can wear Romulan uniforms.
The tech is there, yes probably. And with some amount of a work, it could be done. Doesn't mean cryptic will ever do it.
People have been asking for customizable BOFF since the first non customizable boff was introduced. And we are still at the same exact point.
Just look at the new potato/sontaran free BOFF, it was customizable at first, but since it was not intended (and had a bunch of bugs), they simply made it non customizable. While all they had to do is remove the bugged item from being used on this BOFF.
If new BOFFs are not customizable, I don't see why they would take older ones, and make them customizable.
Sometimes it's even more ridiculous, the Reman free BOFF, rewarded for a Rom is not customizable. It's supposed to be some kind of unique and somewhat interesting reward, yet Rom can have Reman BOFF easily, and all of them can be customized. Except for this "unique" one. Making the reward more or less useless.
I confirmed. Newly acquired SRO Romulan Embassy Boffrs are customiseable.
What is unlocked for them ? Your faction costume (IE for example odyssey for a fed), Romulan costume no matter your faction or only "universal" stuff (IE shirt simple, mercenary, winter event gear...)?
I think it's an unintended side effect, and will be nerfed soon, but the only thing preventing me from buying those BOFF was the non customizable thing.

Only basic romulan attire (romulan civilian, miner) and things like CC armor, dyson, voth, dyson scientist, jem'hadar. aka all the non Fed/KDF specific stuff.

If you go to the tailor and look at an existing Embassy BOff, then visit your bridge from the dropdown, then leave the bridge and go back to the tailor, the old embassy BOff unlocks for customizing. But if you try to purchase a costume, you get a message saying something like "this slot cannot be edited" and it reverts to default.
Is it normal to have a better trait on male rom boff than female ? For the same quality, female have (normal) Romulan Operative (tac) or (normal) Subterfuge, while male of the same quality (blue) have SRO and superior subterfuge.
Is that intended sexism, something that's not new, or merely the tooltip which is bugged (and they have, in fact, the same trait) ?

So basically, Rom female have less interesting traits for non purple, and there is no way to have a SRO embassy female rom boff ?

If I may add, for those interested, you have also access to Cstore romulan costume, and veteran Romulan costume. Which is nice.

This doesn't seem to be working for me, for either my old Embassy Boff, or the one I just bought today. Neither seems to be customizable.
I was able to customize my Rom BOFF. Freshly bought, on feds character.
Maybe it's only for new ones, or non KDF ?
And before whining too much, Borticus said it was a work in progress, and he wasn't sure it was working. Also, it's a HUGE step forward for Cryptic^^
So yeah, encouragements are better than complain this time, I want all the boffs in this game to be customizable at some point in the future.

Nope. No customization for me, with or without beaming in and out, with or without new Boff.
Yup, they fixed nothing. Or, put differently, they fixed it the same way they 'fixed' the loadout system. :P
