i have been thinking about it though, they probably had read some of these and are quietly checking things out, but have maintained some silence while they do some numbers, i still don't like even checking my stuff, feel like an outsider lately, i just hope they get to the bottom of this mess
Queues? You can delete those just as indifferently as exploration went
The question becomes, at what point is the population so low that whales are affected? This is one i´ve been thinking about lately as even the biggest story whale likes to do things with their fleet now and then. Or wants to run a queu to get a shiny that caught their eye. What happens when it gets to a point that they realize there´s few people left?

Simple, the whales go off to better grounds and they kill off all the tribbles powering the servers. Without a community, an mmo is nothing.

That was my point exactly too, when I said whales need Ahabs to show off to. If the whales start to leave, then that is a very bad sign. I'm a small whale (I like to call myself a 'whalette'). And yes, I did just buy that 3,500 Zen interior pack. Because I don't want to miss out on having it, later on. But I'm otherwise putting my purchases on life-support, as it were. Like I was gonna drop some $300 this month, to upgrade various space sets and the like. But I'm still in protest mode; so f that, and I merely spent the minimal for my interior.
My long-winded point being: I'm pretty much holding back on major spending, until some real changes follow. To protract the metaphor a bit further, you could say this whalelette has chosen to become beached, for the time being.
Do you know something which has just occurred to me. I've been playing for a good six to eight hours today (it's the weekend and it's freezing outside, what else was I going to do?), in that time I've got a tier 6 ship all the way through the mastery to tier 5 and yet I'm not even quite at the half way mark to my next specialisation point... When I logged in today I hit the level I'm on now from turning in some doff missions. So yeah, six hours of play and I've mastered a whole starship to tier 5 yet not gained one spec point...
That pretty much says it all about how messed up the progression is just now.
That's bad.
Until Cryptic fixes the progression T6 ships aren't worth it or the ship mastery skill.
That will not change while Geko is still in his position as lead <redacted>.

Hmmmm, then I must be a 'Dolphin' very selective to what I need...:D
Do anyone notice after the patch the game has been deader? Dead queues, less private, lower chat zone chatter, and less friends on the player friends list!

Yup, it's getting worse every week. People are pretty fed up with the silly behaviour of Cryptic I guess. We'll see what happens this week, but I got a feeling it'll end up in even emptier queues.

I was somewhere between an Orca and a Sperm Whale, and now I'm a lung fish. This was the final straw. I had started to spend money again because it looked like cryptic might be actually listening. They put out a message about reducing crafting usage of the super rare items, it looked like a couple of other things were finally getting fixed.
Saturday morning when I log in, skill point totals undergo a major change, bugs seem to have come back. When I go to level my alts(55-57th level) with Doffing because I don't want to replay the same content 8 times or more , the skill point bar barely moves. I check the point totals and now it seems I'm looking at 3 months or more for my alts to gains 3 levels. When I go into run Doff missions I notice the point totals and times have been stealth adjusted to nerf the doff system, and it looks like search for contraband has been nerfed even farther.
It's the last straw. The line must be drawn, this far no farther. I will not buy Zen again, ever, unless cryptic can convince me they have changed their ways. This time it's going to take months of good behavior to convince me, not just a few messages and some apologetic words. The punitive way Cryptic treats it's customers has to stop, the stealth nerfings have to stop, the unmitigated gall and arrogance they have when dealing with customers has to change. I have a lot of money invested it my stable of toons, and I'm prepared to lose all of it than put up with this TRIBBLE any longer.
SWTOR is getting my money for the forseeable future.
Space the final frontier. These are the voyages of [your name here] on a five year mission to gain one level after the delta rising xp nerf.
It is sad because the game has come a long and stony way and it has a lot of potential but it got wasted with bad decisions as a result the player base get alienated.
Over the years the devs have promised us so much, like a Fleet Guramba but it was only hot air.
Another very sad thing is the bonus or lack for having more than one alt. I have played now some other MMOS for example Star Wars The Old Republic and while their "F2P-Model" is bad the way you profit from having more than just one alt is awesome no to mention their account wide "Legacy and Reputation System"
We are not hear because this game is better than other games or makes more fun we are here because it is Star Trek.
As you can see the palyerbase has enough from your "fixes" the time has come to listen to US the players because we decide if we want to spent money or not.

It's quite possible we won't even get a patch this week, being Thanksgiving in the States and all. I'm not holding my breath.
I do find it funny -
People are grinding Tau Dewa - OMGZ pull the maps! Shut down everything!
Mirror Advanced is awarding 7200 - Dilithium! OMG! Take the event offline to fix that right away!
Mirror event not awarding promised Delta marks? Guess we can wait a week - oopsies!
Level progression not being the same after adjustments? We don't believe you - we checked - it's a bug. Proof starts to rattle in among the rage...silence.
It really seems that player-benefiting bugs and "unintended" behaviour warrant immediate fixes, but ones that hold player progression back can wait...as long as they need to wait.
I realized that I have better things to do than waste time on a game that's not going anywhere with the current leadership group in place. Skip the 5 stages of grief.
Denial was never a problem.
I'm not going to be angry anymore.
I won't waste my time bargaining.
Going to skip depression before it hits.
Accept that if it weren't for the Star Trek brand I would have been long gone.
So I will just leave, and spend my time on something more productive or fun.

Worse than that, is the attitude by cryptic that it's somehow the player's fault if cryptic makes a mistake. Cryptic makes a mistake that benefits players = The players must be punished for "using an exploit", cryptic makes a mistake in their favor = oh well, who gives a TRIBBLE, you're lucky we even let you play our game. Although with all the nerfs lately it's getting hard to tell what's a mistake, what's a nerf, and what's a mistake made while fixing a mistake.

Drop in every once and a while. If the numbers is as garbage still for the week. I expect Cryptic to make a significant change. They do need to shove Geko somewhere.
and start listening to players. It's bad players can do better testing then Cryptic Dev staff,

Seriously. I have been watching the Steam anaylsis, and periodically looking at the numbers of private and public queues. It's pretty bad numbres considering for a weekend and week day so far.
The 155k specialization experience per capitalization point is the killer.
While there are a lot of numbers changing, we have taken extra care to make sure that the speed at which players level up will remain the same as it is now.

5 Days now, and we're still waiting for a reply.
We're not going away, someone from Cryptic needs to address this. We were told one thing and given another.
Seems like they're trying to just 'wait it out,' but it's not going to work. We deserve a reply and we're not going to stop until we get one. Ignoring your paying customers is an irresponsible approach to running a business.
You know? The more I read the OP the more convinced I am that conkers is the best game ever invented... for the OP represents an upskirty glimpse at the insane design ethos and studio-priority here, at present.

My guess there is (as I said in another thread), patch deployment is not fully handled in house on STO's corner of Cryptic (ie. an external department not assigned to just STO) and may even use a third party company contracted for limited work. So this creates financial pressure not to patch. Which results in a policy where you save emergency patches for when it's costing you money because emergency patches cost you unbudgeted money.
Seems to be the new trend now. Prior I would be on the game for hours lately this not so.
I use to be on the game for hours too. I leveled two of my toons to 60 before they did the Skill Point nerf. I was working on another toon and got her to 55, and just couldn't take the grind. I cancelled my subscription and heading back to RIFT, at least I can see the XP Bar move. In my opinion this is the only way Cryptic will fix things, is by the player base leaving it is unfortunate.
Not realy, I log-in start the rep project and log-off.
Same here. I wouldve doff a little too, but why bother? Collected a crit reward from "Supress Gorn uprising...", wich previous the nerf would give decent xp. Now the xp bar barely move
So again... why bother??

The jury is in and the verdict is, people are suckers with no limits.
Did you read the guy saying he wasn't a whale this month because he only spent 300$
If anything they should just go ahead and increase the dil cost and the grinding
