Biotech Siphon works with Zephram Cochrane Shotgun INVESTIGATING

I have posted this as a bug report as I assume that it is NOT working as intended.

This is silly as it breaks damage/heal mechanics (just look at price of biotech siphon on exchange to see how much its broken). As this is a tactical only module, tacs now deal the most damage on the ground AND self-heal the most too. (What is the point in the other classes!?)

Siphon should ONLY work on melee. Not all physical damage.

It works with the TR-116 rifle too.

Hmm, why you assume that? Stop wasting devs time with stuff like this. There are some real bugs in this game.
This is working as intended if you look at both descriptions, skill and gun. What's the matter, you cant afford a biotech siphon and now call it a bug?? And tacs deal most damage? Play an enginner too then ;) And the gun has such a small efective range its allmost in melee range in fact.

Anyway, thats just YOUR OPINION that siphon should work only with melee. In other games a power like this, a vampiric life steal sort-of-speak, works not only with meee, but also with ranged and even spells in some medieval mmos.

Biotech siphon IS working as intended.

I have heard it's a good weapon but I am not sure whether this would make a difference in fast high dps ground stfs, where mobs get wiped out as fast as possible and usually you get less aggro than when you pug it and you end up with less powerful people, because tacs are supposed to deal damage and because ... which module would you sacrifice for it? ambush? motivation?
But, in a weak pug, I guess that would make a difference but then again Zeffy's shotgun or a good ol' AP split beam? 3 security escort doffs or 3 crit melee doffs?

You are right : IN OTHER GAMES.
This is Star Trek Online and our magic consists of spaceships, warp drives, beam arrays, torpedoes, phasers, bat'leths, vulcan mind-melds, vulcan pinches, reptilian bites, lethean mind attacks, reman mind drains, orion seducing powers, some telepathy, at the most some telekinesis ... and they are all canon ( not sure about telekinesis), NOT vampiric life steals : that would be good stuff for a Twilight Online MMO :P lol
We've got only one vampire here and he's Lucho ;-)

It sounds a bit less like a bug and more of an epic oversight from whoever designed that module. Not really surprising, though, coming from an item of the Undine "need MORE power creep" lockbox.

If that's true then it's really borked since the tr-116 deals kinetic damage.

I have 5 tac toons. They all have the siphon. The module is Account bound anyway - so in theory you only ever need one...

This isn't about the cost of the bloody thing.

Its the fact that now my tac officers are ludicrously good, impossible to kill, and out heal (to self) my medics...

    Its silly.

Verified that Biotech Siphon works with any weapon that uses Physical Damage. I'll leave it to Borticus and Co. if anything needs to be changed in regards to it's interaction with the shotgun and TR-116.

    Thanks Frost.

As mentioned in my OP I assume that it's a bug from the sheer magnitude of the heals a TAC player can receive from this, and how it is very unbalancing from a gameplay perspective... Scis are 'supposed' to be the medics :)

It doesn't matter any more because nobody does ground PVP nowdays.

One reason why I don't do ground PVP it that exothermic kills as fast as a tac buffed TR-116.
I wonder why that is not "adjusted" to be in tone with OP :"Scis are 'supposed' to be the medics"

Please don't break the healing shotgun build :(

Biotech siphon and C-C armor were expensive...
