Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
Holodeck release notes threads have always been locked...
I assume he is referring to the Maintenance thread in the News section. They started locking that last week. I assume they want to keep it as a news reference so people can look at it and get times, etc rather then as a discussion - because Dev posts tend to get lost in the thread then.
We can discuss the Patch Notes here, in the General forum. Simply make a thread about them.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Oh, I thought they started locking them because people complained about downtimes too much... :P
They are saying that the power tray issue will be fixed. Good
Also some vaadwuar battleships were spawning with too many HP. That makes sense as there have been a few I've come up against that were way too much hard work to kill. Good
However, some of the known issues are still there. Bad
Can Mac users play yet? I'm not sure if that was addressed in a previous patch.
I didn't realize they locked it last week. I read through them on the blog and didn't have much personal input so didn't look at the thread....seems interesting that after everything the last few weeks they start locling them.
But on topic does this mean the mastery xp is now 83% or a total of 50% reduction (33% last time)
I have to say I really had hoped to see some of the unplayable advanced missions made playable this week. I guess we can chalk it up to prep for the new episode and mirror still running. However I think we are now well in danger of killing pugging in this game, or at the very least killing particular missions.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

I hope they do something, because to be honest with you, most of the queue wait times I see nowadays look something like this:
Forget patch notes, Trendy mentioned the new episode. I didn't see a topic about that (at least it wasn't linked in the blog post).
She totally spoiled the episode by listing the voice actors.
Yes, I suspected what it was about from the earlier blog posts, but at least it was still a mystery.
So now they're auto locking scheduled maintenance threads?
may have been apart of the updated forum changes, different way to police the forums. it hasnt surprised me, used to be able to mention when and if something was reported on by myself at one point, even that got looked at and thats the way it is these days. im guessing with the egg on the faces of smirk and trendy over the last few weeks since the expansion launch, they probably want to restrict the flow of information in such a way where certain things in the past may have been overlooked are now included.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
They are saying that the power tray issue will be fixed. Good
Well, considering how long that has been going on, and that a fix was also included in a previous coide - it may just be the piece in the puzzle of solving the full issue, and not the perfect solution people are hoping for. We'll see.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Saddening that there's no news on the Borg Red Alerts in all sectors having issues with the end boss not spawning.
The specialization thing is nice for us who want to get specs without staying in a ship totally (I have an alt that uses a guardian, my other one in an Ody is only in the guardian for the trait).
And I seriously HOPE the tray is fixed this time. Yeesh.
Outside of that? Minimal patch, kinda hoped for more, but assuming employees were given veterans day or such, well, at least it's something.
great... another week and another time no fix to the messed up difficulty... the unbalanced xp rewards... the doff xp bug... and many other game breaking issues
but hey we get a bonus episode... which distracts the players from all the broken content for at least 10 minutes.
I had to chuckle, thinking about it for a moment. It's not like folks didn't create 9001 other threads to discuss things outside the maintenance thread anyway...you know, just saying.

Erm right!
I encounter release notes with a growing feeling of disappointment and disinterest.
Glad to see they added a fail timer to KAGA as well now. Was one of the few maps left you could handle despite weak or inexperienced players or when having 3 out of 5 DCed during last Saturdays server TRIBBLE.
Way to go Cryptic. Im sure a new episode will make up for all of it.

I think it means 50% off it current form. Which would mean a 66% drop from what it was a few weeks ago.
So now they're auto locking scheduled maintenance threads?
I have a brilliant idea. Why don't you create a new thread in this subforum calling it "Release notes November 13th discussion" and discuss it there? I know.... I KNOW..... It's BRILLIANT ! :P

Would rather have seen a fix the bug that makes Infected ground unwinnable

I feel you. Infected Manus is my all time favourite STO queue. Can only be used for levelling purposes at the moment utilizing the respawning Drones in Beccas room. Here is to next weeks patch.

I agree. This is a perplexing and troubling move. If you were to look at it logically it would seem to indicate that failqueues are here to stay. Which I think is a very bad move for the game.

Yep, I think its the worst even. Fail criteria and especially the timers only hinder experienced and inexperienced, new and old, casuals and hard core players to team up either by random or on purpose.

Well... I don't know what are the company thinking about... I've played this game for years (also I've been a good player always), and despite how easy was to get everything (Who still remembers the Prototype Borg Salvage loots? :P), I continued playing from time to time.
With Delta Rising, I was somehow encouraged to see what was happening with all the new content, and I was happy to see that some things have become a bit difficult, mainly in elite difficulty. Obviously i don't have maxed my R&D, so it will be stupid upgrading my mk XII equipment, as only the lvl 15 upgrades provide a decent ratio of points granted per dilithium consumed, and I don't want to grind for dilithium like the old times.
Considering that the R&D is not a problem, only a matter of weeks, my calculations estimate that I will need about 2 million dil to fully upgrade to mk XIV my equipment in my 3 toons with the lvl 15 items from R&D (a LOT more if using the lower level ones). This seriously discourage me, and probably most people, of seriously playing the game, even more when with mk XII equipment you can handle almost anything.
On the other hand, we can see that Cryptic is making things even easier in terms of gameplay, as NPC's with lower HP (if I can handle elite with mk XII, why making normal and advanced even easier? O.o Logic not found...), or now it's faster to get tier 5 mastery in a ship (why put that feature if in 1-2 days of regular gameplay you should have maxed that? Now it will take only a couple of missions lol). So, another thing that discourages me from playing the game.
And now, optional objectives in advanced missions they're not optional anymore, including KAGA (the always-known mission for "elite beginners" in the past). I agree that in elite the objectives have to be fulfilled all of them, so you should learn first in normal and advanced, but also I think that making countdown objectives is the most easy way to make people quit the game. If you want an "optional" that in elite is not "optional", put a Superboss nearly immortal that requires coordination and teamwork to kill (impossible to tank alone, with the need of taking aggro for the tank ship or character, and with constant healing support), with an awesome reward like any normal MMO, or
add things that are not in the easier versions, not a stupid time count which increases tension and disrespect between players, as only a few seconds delay (that can be caused by countless reasons, including connection problems, troll people , etc.) could make a total fail and loss of time, with the consecuent crossing of accusations we all know...
But well, this has been always the main problem of the game. There are NO real and necessary roles appart from the "pewpew" one, which means that stupid 3-year-old kids (mentally speaking) can play this game.
For my part, I will probably follow the game for the next months, entering from time to time, but I don't expect to return with an activity like the old times.
Every day it passes the game is less challenging and more grinding... For that, I'll go play minecraft, not an MMO based on Star Trek...

Where have you been? It's been like that for a long while already...OLD news

Correct. My fault on that.

was there anything you wanted to know or discuss in particular?
General discussion ftw

- Khitomer in Stasis Advanced mode can now fail if the objective Destroy the IMRs in: 15:00 is not met.
they realized a couple teams occasionally beat it a few times since everyone got shotguns, should have it fixed pronto.
