So this is upsetting. While the C-store may tell you that your purchase is bound to account, it does NOT give you a warning that the items you purchase are contagious. That is NOT very forth coming and after having spent my money on the game I am put on probation? I think not. You want someone to remain a customer then you all need to be forthcoming about the information, ALL of it. I bought 20 keys, under the pretense that I would open the boxes and be able to trade items. But no, so now I am stuck with items from said boxes and unable to trade them. I want the items either made unbound, or removed from my inventory and I want my money credited back to my credit card as I won't be playing this game anymore so you can punish me for spending my money. I have been using this character for almost 2 years and now I get punished as if I did something wrong. No thanks, I want nothing to do with corporate people taking my money and not giving me equal treatment.

I am contacting my family attorney for further information. Upon initial review of what is stated this policy is not legal as you don't go into detail as to what the probationary period is for, what all is considered probation, why I was put on probation, and the overall effects and permanence of anything you buy during the probationary period.

Yeah I was kinda thinking the same thing because if the system had any morals it would put the whole company on probation.

Hi there, for your information, one week ago somebody used my credit card registered in Perfect World and buy for 80.00 euros. Until today nobody of PW do something to resolve this offense, or an explanation, or just say that they are taking a look. This shows how much they care what might happen to their customers, at least those who are not english-speaking.

Ya well someone had just made a purchase of Zen got his delta pack and some master keys he was going to trade me for the Lobi Xindi ship, and his master keys were flagged with no warning before buying, and now 2 people are screwed in this transaction.....

Chalk another one up for this system.

I hope dragoth81 gets a hold of his attorney because while everything in STO is their property, we are getting denied said services while we are paying for them.

    Sense Class Action....

    Hello STO Players and Community.

Purchased items that become bound-to-account will permanently remain account bound, so you need to make this choice before purchasing.

This is NOT what the ingame warning message stated. Thank you for TRIBBLE me out of some EC.

Not smart. Any transaction on a credit card can be reversed. Freezing customer accounts is never a good idea for long term customer satisfaction....

DO NOT BUY ZEN THROUGH STEAM.

CRYPTIC/PWE WILL GIVE YOU THE MIDDLE FINGER EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU DO SO.

'probation' is a joke and is basically PWE's way of telling you to never buy Zen through Steam. It needs to be removed, but PWE doesn't care.

And PWE will ban the account the INSTANT you reverse the charges.

I am laughing at the people who make decisions @ PWE who actually thought (and still think) TRIBBLE Steam users was a good idea. Not only did you shoot yourself in the foot, you seem to be enjoying it.

Nah. The false positive is definitely a thing. I am on an account with quite a bit of purchasing history from before the Arc swap. Thanks to the false positive, my account has been on lockdown for over a week, and it doesn't look to be changing soon. The response is "Since this is an automated fraud prevention system, Customer Service cannot remove or alter the duration of the probation. We are also unable to provide an exact timeframe on when the probation will get lifted on the account. Any items purchased during the probation period will stay bound to the account even after the probation ends."

So you made a system that customer service can't look up the status of accounts on, or undo? There are several words that fit this situation...I think I am leaning towards idiotic. Perhaps moronic. Or just simply TRIBBLE.

I tried to keep this complaint to the tickets, but browsing the forums...This false positive is not "minimal". It's freaking rampant.

I have $30 of zen sitting in my account I bought through Steam specifically so I could be master keys to sell. I have been on probation for over a week and am getting no help from customer service. I have been a subscriber for several months before this and made several zen purchases before this just not through Steam.

I am assuming that if I buy more zen through Arc that will also be restricted until the mythical day my "probation" is lifted. BTW payment cleared my account several days ago and I am still not released so...

I have the same issue as you gallowsghost. Additionally, I feel that they falsely advertised zen because I was not informed of the conditions of the service before the cash purchase. They won't give me a refund for Master Keys purchased, a timeline of when "Fraud Prevention" will be done, answer questions about the legality of falsely advertising zen, and after my 3rd reply to them criticized the GM for not addressing all of my issues, I was threatened with being banned. This is the worst customer experience I've ever had with any company including cable providers. Maybe someone has sewed them and they don't want to change their policies because they think it will be an admission of guilt? I can't imagine why they think this is okay.

The bound-to-account status is “contagious”, so that if you open a Lock Box using a Master Key that has this status, everything from the Lock Box will also be bound-to-account in the same way. This contagious nature applies to anything you get from the C-Store that can be opened, and the purpose is to prevent fraudulent purchases from being traded off of the account.

All due respect, but I could easily see this becoming a griefing tool by purposely selling these "diseased" Lockbox Keys and the players not knowing it.

So I trust that there will be some kind of flag that alerts players that items have this condition.

Well my desire to subscribe to this game just went out of the window and thank you Cryptic, you just saved me a bundle, I was about to buy ZEN, now I will spend my money on something else.

I'm so angry about this. My identity and payment details have all been verified through steam. The payments go through steam. But yet my account i still flagged and the keys I bought are worthless.

"may result in a false positive trigger but we have reduced the chance for that to the bare minimum" - I call TRIBBLE.

Yeah the system is flawed heavily. Also copied from my ticket to support:

"The money has been removed from my account. So there shouldn't be any hold up.

If the system requires one by one checking that means EVERY holiday, sale or recruitment drive you guys do for members is going to be bogged down with an influx of members needing to be validated. Knowing how long it may take to be validate makes me regret bothering to contribute to PWE. If someone came into my job at Family Dollar and was told "Sorry you can't use X item for 10 days. While we check the validity of your payment info." We'd have a riot in our store.

If a system like this is going to be used and a purchase will trigger the account lock. A message should be displayed BEFORE you buy zen not after. Not to mention if you want to verify accounts why not do what even paypal does. Add $0.xx to an account and then remove it. Then ask the customer what the two numbers were."

There are many ways to verify that you are not a bot or a gold seller, but the easy way is to punish everybody.

Wait are some of you threatening to call lawyers to sue a company based in CHINA?! This is the most laughably silly thing I've ever heard. We can't even reel corporations in over in THIS country, and you think you can do ANYTHING about a corporation in a country like CHINA? *facedesk*

The main headquarters may be in China, but they have representation in the United States and are still subject to U.S. law. If the courts would feel that it is a valid case, the corporation's U.S. division would have to deal with it.

If you have had an issue with Billing or anything of that nature you will need to put in a Support ticket.

I've had various billing issues over the years and they have always been cleared up rather quickly.

Just put in a Ticket and Customer Service will get back to you.

I did that and got a vague answer saying that they have no control over how long your account is on probation caused by buying zen, but never answered my question about how I'd know when the probation is over.

Same like saebrith on the post above me, up to now.
Know that sometimes it's really hard to censor self in forum/support (I did), even while you know you have to.

Maybe I'll try to edit later to add more productive (and polite) notes, as I do have some things to say in this topic.

    P.S.
Unlike the above poster, add one to steam statistics here, related or not.

Update: probation status seems to have cleared now. In this case it took about a week since buying. Adding to give others hope and for a follow up, since I didn't see such feedback regarding steam before.
