I agree. Even the criticisms I make--I hope it is obvious they are aimed at Trendy's bosses, not her.

Also TRIBBLE-poor of the devs to send her to the wolves like this.
At least the ones responsible for this should have the gurumba to show themselves.

I agree the devs shoudl have the cajones to face us instead of sending trendy knowing she is going to catch hell for their TRIBBLE.
Trendy took a hit, it would have been worse if it was the Q account again. Thing is the bosses, the dev's and the community moderators are all involved in this debacle, hating on Trendy isn't cool, but she is involved in the problem.
The lack of communication is directly related to the mods staying away from the forums, then we have the Q account used to accuse and insult the playerbase. Finally Trendy is unlucky enough to be the one to continue the charade of the devs and still blame the playerbase without accepting any real responsibility for it. The only line was that there were a few bugs that allowed players to gain levels faster than acceptable. Acceptable to whom? It's bloody unacceptable that the current leveling rate is so damn slow. If you need xp gain to be higher post reaching 60, then farking well code it to do so, don't nerf ALL leveling because the dev's haven't got a farking clue what they are doing.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
But it's Tendy's job to take our feedback and communicate to the dev team that is miserably failing us at every possible chance. Try to keep the feedback constructive though, please.

Forum mods are not responsible for the lack of communication from the dev team they only post what they are told to post.
the lack of information isnt due to trendy being sneeky its due to the dev team not giving enough info to post in the first place...think for a momment

She is involved in no greater a way then we are involved. She is a conduit; a mouthpiece which delivers information to and from, to both parties. the problem is, the Devs aren't giving any info and therefore we players are becoming outraged and looking for a target to funnel that angst against. Hence the Mods...
But none of what is happening is in any way their fault.
Some of the posts directed at Trendy are definitely over the line. But I empathize with those that want their grievances addressed and Trendy is the only person they can see to talk at. Perhaps if the Devs were more involved in the community or the company offered useful customer support, this unfortunate situation may not have occurred.
People are getting pissy at Trendy? That's really not cool. Poor girl already has to deal with "Oh TRIBBLE I have to go tell them this?" People should be offering her gifts of bacon wrapped tribbles for taking one for her team like this. Then offer the people responsible for the issues in the first place (devs who ignored all the tribble bug reports) flaming bags of dog TRIBBLE. My neighbor has a Great Dane if you are lacking in the TRIBBLE department.

This is why I don't get mad at Smirk or Trendy. They're just doing what they're told to do, and even if they want to help, they're probably told not to.
The real people to get mad at are the devs who at this point seem to be trying to drive players away. (How this improves sales I'm not sure, but it must if that's their game plan.)

TBH that's like saying "I'm only following orders". Sorry that's bull****. Trendy and Bluegeek are both involved in the LACK of communication. They will have knowledge of things but they don't release it for whatever reason. The Bosses and dev's are 1000% more responsible and through their incompetence the Mods relay incorrect, misleading or outright false information.
Trendy's post stated that punitive measures were take against those who abused the system, which turns out to be bull****. Then in the final sentence she apologises for the "Bugs" in the maps for TD. Sorry but you can't take punitive measures against people for the dev's own stupidity. These aren't even problems they didn't know about. It was used on tribble, it's been used for ages prior to Dickheads Rising. Suddenly the level bug is an exploit? It's a simple case of passing responsibility to the players for actions they did or failed to do themselves.
I'm not saying it's cool to hammer Trendy or that she even deserves what others have been saying, but the Mods DO have a responsibility to perform their job properly, something they are clearly not doing well.

Can we fault Cryptic for horrible PR? Absolutely. Can we personally fault Smirk? I don't think we should go that route any more than trying to personally fault Trendy.

Trendy is cool. Someone had to clear things up. We know who to blame. No worries. Don't rage at Trendy please. Direct your rage towards the one's at the top.
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.
Who else are we supposed to yell at other than Public Relations people?
Excuse me, but it's their job. It's communication with the customers. In this case it's absolute lack of communication and lack of any sense of what players are doing or feeling like.
Hell, they don't even know how to play this game.
How are the PR people supposed to know ANYTHING about us, if they don't even know how to play the ******n game?
Not only that, but we don't know anything about the decision process, we don't know anything about how our feedback affects anything. Not even an answer from a bug report unless you yell at a GM and they tell you a GM can do nothing about it.
Players don't know anything about the devs, so we assume they are lazy and incompetent. Because that's how it looks like.
Devs don't know anything about the players, so they assume we are bunch of crybabies that cry over a minor thing. Because that's how it may look like from their perspective.
We do not know, or understand each other. Hell, we don't care about each other. PR people are supposed to fill the gap. Sure, they are there to convince you how "everything is fine" but also should pass important issues down the chain. And give us even a slight, slight sign that devs are actually listening.
It's a ******n, sad and horrible mess, and you're damn right I am pissed off.

Where is the CEO? He needs to come out and talk to all us players here on his forum. Dev only answer to him. Forbes online did a review of CEO. I am just saying other online gaming CEO come out and talk to the players.
TBH that's like saying "I'm only following orders". Sorry that's bull****.
Maybe its because Ive been in their shoes, having been a form mod before, and I cant say exactly what they are doing or how Cryptic works with them, but this is how wed handle the same issue on the forums I monitored:
Players post complaints about bug/issue/etc. If I am the first mod to see it I make a post just to say Hey guys, I know this is frustrating. Lets keep the flames down, try to keep this to a single thread and Ill see what I can find out. No promises, but I will be checking into it."
Then make good on all of my promises: Check with the Devs, get their feedback, make sure what I can and can not share with the community, close duplicate threads, then create a STICKY THREAD highlighting the primary concern and posting whatever feedback I can.
In all of this I was merely the go-between. Sometimes the Devs answered my questions right away. Sometimes they did not. Sometimes they would give me info I could share with everyone. Sometimes they did not. No matter what, however, I never let an issue go ignored. In the end I had absolutely no power to make any of these changes nor could I make demands of the devs, but I could maintain a celar and constant level of communication, which is what the mods here should be doing. When issues occur (and they will often) a mod shouldnt run away to hide or just address threads that need closing/editing, but keep an open line of communication with the player base.
On this, from what I have seen, I will blame the mods for dropping the ball. For the actual issues and any correspondence from Cryptic on the matter, no. We cant possibly know what the Devs have or have not told the mods so we cant blaming them for not sharing info.
But we need communication. Thats the basics of forum moderation. You must moderate the forums, and you simply can not do so without communicating with the users. Period.
Lol I took a few shots at Flakes, it was fun and he was a decent enough guy about it. Even when he sent me to the corner for a day, which I thoroughly deserved. I kinda miss him in retrospect, he was a great yesman (jk) :P
I'm a mod on a couple of forums, I've also worked behind the phones for some big companies and small ones. I've had people yell and scream at me for errors on their bills, ones which they had every right to yell and scream about. Once they calmed down they were normal people and the problems were usually easy to solve.
This is not happening at Cryptic though. The communication is lacking, there's little to no involvement from the mods as you pointed out. Hell go to the Star Citizen forums, they are far more difficult to manage with people flying off the handle over the smallest little fantasies of concerns. But they have active mods who literally go into the threads and say things like "Hey guys we are looking into this, so lets keep it calm in here"...
On these forums however they just release statements saying things like "The development team has identified some exploitative behavior by a small number of players on some game maps. Those maps have been shut down during the investigation. Well share more as soon as we have completed our investigation. This likely will not be completed until sometime tomorrow.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time.
Omnipotently yours,
Q"
How the hell is that going to reduce problems? Trendy's statement is literally an exposition of that one, but with a minor apology about their TRIBBLE up, and confirmation players have been punished for it. It's just unlucky for Trendy and she's gonna get it regardless of what we say. People are pissed and rightly so. The team at Cryptic put her head above the trenches, so now people will shoot at it.
