I've had a blast doing every single mission and patrol of all the planets in delta quadrant, reminded me of the way the game used to be before free to play came about
the one thing i have always enjoyed is exploring all parts of the game, ground, space and the patrols, if you skip the patrols then your missing out on some decent content along the way for some of the systems aid the actual progression of overall storyline that is to be had in the delta quadrant, so your losses if you skip em because you think they are boring or not worth your time in doing for there is some wonderful dialogue and even more beautiful and awe inspiring visual looks to most of the systems they have built. and yes i am a voyager fan..
i sometimes think that alot of people who seem to ride the free to play aspect arent even dedicated star trek fans and just see what most find thrilling as explorers as a waste of their times as long as they can do the fast trek to end level content..
All good things take time, and the delta quadrant is certainly worth it...

Wasn't that part of the actual "Story Content" (Alliances), though (including fancy VO from Neelix, Tuvok etc) ... funny how people can't even tell the difference anymore, being stuck deep in all the grind :P

Hmm on second thoughts I think your right, that was the Doctors part right?

Excuse me, but I happen to be F2P and VERY well versed in Trek lore. Please place the blame for Cryptic/PWE's errors back where it belongs--on them--as opposed to assuming a group of players you don't like (and who are NOT necessarily "freeloaders" despite not having a sub) must somehow be out to get all of the subscribers.

your excused, first and foremost i never said i dont like free to play players, what i said was a majority want the fast trek to endgame content without caring about exploring and taking their time, dont put words in my mouth because you read that wrong..

Yep ... but granted it kind of felt like another boring Patrol ... just with vancy VO .. I guess 9 real missions was just to much effort to put into the game ...
without caring about exploring and taking their time

If you consider 23 - Scan X so you can shoot Y x 5 Patrols... "Exploring" ... I might have experienced a different version of Trek ... besides "taking your time" is mandatory while zerging down lots of enemies ...

strange, I found the patrol missions ok, granted for storyline missions they are lame but I guess they needed something to pad out the story a bit but they were no worse then any of the similar in game missions like aiding the deferi, no win or crystalline entity, just the same old pow pow that is the staple diet of sto.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Remember that time that Cryptic decided that patrol missions weren't valid story content and weren't worthy of being included in standard mission progression so they removed them as a requirement for continuing through episodes (and solved the "Where's Sulu??" issue)?

    Cryptic is so schizophrenic...

What research was used to come to this conclusion, wild-guesstonomics?

Err.. no pal this is not the way the game use to be before F2P stop telling such lies. I have been here since beta and can clearly tell you this expansion is not only the worst but it is also boring. If this was anything like the patrol mission before you would not be killing mob and after mob after mob then going on to about five or six more areas doing the same thing over and over. This is such a lazy way for them to do such a thing.

The patrol missions were exceedingly tedious. At least they're adjusting hitpoints -- that was the single worst problem.

Holy heck they were the grindiest missions ever to be in the story arc. If they had an ounce of story to them beyond showing us that the baddies of the Delta Quadrant were up to their old tricks, they might have been worthwhile. I was so annoyed at these missions.

There is no doubt, and I want to be crystal clear here, unless these episodes are nerfed or severely changed, I will -never-... -ever-.... repeat them on any alt and if this means it's the end of STO for me, it will be the end.

These new episodes have reached a level of idiocy I have never seen in any game. They provide for me and seemingly for many other people out there, ZERO amount of enjoyment and a FULL of amount of frustration and anger from ENDLESS STUPID NEVERENDING fights against enemies that are so beefed up that it makes no sense at all.

Copy and paste, whether they are patrols or not, it's always the same TRIBBLE when it comes to space fights now, they just won't end.

That holographic bulwark was the most stupid fight ever for me in my many years of playing STO, I had to go down to normal setting and even on normal setting the fight was taking unbelievable moronic proportions.

    Ditto.
I had to drag it over to the respawn point because it would insta-heal before I could get back to it.
Even then, I got popped about 6 more times before I could win.
At least it doesn't do THAT anymore.

Now that I have upgraded my ship, overhauled my BOffs & their powers, completely changed my entire loadout, and basically changed my entire way of playing (in which I had finally gotten comfortable with), I was able to defeat it by only respawning a total of 4 times WITHOUT dragging it to the respawn point...but still with MUCH effort...and after spending about 15 minutes on it...that's 15 minutes on that ONE HOLOGRAPHIC ship WITH help from The Doctor.
"Join Date: Jun 2012" Says Cryptic's "new" forum system. I've been here since a week before launch, but SOME stuff just didn't carry over through multiple system changes/updates.

Unfortunately I also find the DR patrol missions tedious but my main gripe with them are the four same rewards for all of them and only five marks for the time invested. Why in the world would my Klingon Tac ever put those beams on her ship. A change in reward for these missions would be nice and even better would be a set that would be at least a little bit more effective against those damage sponges. That might make me want to play the patrol missions again.

I've taken to doing only one part of a patrol on a given day...to get the 55 mark bonus.

So are the DR patrol missions. Does that mean they can be removed too? Please?

Patrols are only to be done once. Solo. On normal difficulty. So says Cryptic.
