2011
Issues, current and never resolved (tested TODAY!):
- Impulse Engine 100% cooldown to Quantum Slipstream Drive
- Ship Shield 50% chance to proc Energy Wake
- 2 piece Set Bonus: Tetryon Glider
Impulse Engine modifier to Quantum Slipstream testing:
- Using a Warp Core that does not have an [SSR] modifier
- Toggled on Quantum Slipstream in Sector Space and Throttled to zero to prevent movement.
- Let Quantum Slipstream duration expire without moving or zoning after 30 seconds.
- Quantum Slipstream cooldown time is still 2 minutes, not 1 minute as expected
Conclusion: Impulse Engine cooldown modifier to Quantum Slipstream is most likely making a legacy coding function call that is no longer supported since this effect was designed prior to the [SSR] modifier for Warp Cores (and later Singularity Cores). Most likely suffering from
GNDN performance (known as Goes Nowhere, Does Nothing among hardcore Star Trek Lore fans).
Energy Wake proc testing:
- Ran through the Defense Contract Daily Mission in the Alhena System
- Ran through the Sh'mar Distress Signal Daily Mission near the Zibal System
- Ran through the Satellite Repair Daily Mission in the Traelus System
- Scrolled through the Combat Log to try and find a single instance of Energy Wake successfully proccing
- Despite having a(n advertised) 50% proc chance, after having been attacked hundreds of times by Cardassian Galors and True Way ships, NOT A SINGLE PROC for Energy Wake could be found in the Combat Log ... and I never saw the Impulse Engine Trail(s) "flare" up and brighten the way they're supposed to indicating that the proc had ever taken effect
Conclusion: The Energy Wake Proc wasn't working in 2011 and almost certainly isn't working now either. What's odd is that the
Solanae Hyper-Efficient Impulse Engines are designed to do almost the exact same thing, except there the modifier is on the Impulse Engine instead of on the Shield ... and it
WORKS ... while the Energy Wake Proc on the Omega Force Shield does not. Most likely
also suffering from
GNDN performance (known as Goes Nowhere, Does Nothing among hardcore Star Trek Lore fans).
Tetryon Glider testing:
- Scroll through the Combat Log of the above missions to find a single instance of Target Shields being drained by Tetryon Glider
- My ship is using a Borg Kinetic Cutting Beam, Dominion Polaron Beam Arrays and a Nukara Web Mine Launcher
- Not a single report of Shield Draining by Tetryon Glider is reported in the Combat Log for multiple combats in three different Daily Mission instances
Conclusion: *IF* Tetryon Glider is working at all (highly unlikely given everything else wrong, broken or simply non-functional with the Omega Force Space Set at this point ) then it isn't reporting anything it does to the Combat Log. The more likely scenario however is that Tetryon Glider is
LITERALLY yielding a performance of
GNDN (known as Goes Nowhere, Does Nothing among hardcore Star Trek Lore fans) due to legacy coding that no longer "connects" to anything in the current version of the game.
Overall Impression:
The Omega Force Space Set doesn't "work" as advertised and has been left to rot because no one uses it. It's also of extremely questionable use against the Borg, its intended adversary, where practically ANYTHING else is a superior choice ... including
No Set At All. Considering the resource investment needed to acquire this Space Set in the first place, this is most pitiable indeed ...
