Fleet Alert - Failure

philosopherephilosophere Member Posts: 607 Arc User
If this is the new normal.... holy TRIBBLE.

Just did a pug fleet alert with 5 other level 50 captains. One was in the new intel escort and we failed, big time. Don't think we even completed wave 3.

Is this for real? Is this what was intended? If so they can kiss the casual player goodbye....

it seems that they have made um... everything one level more difficult than it was supposed to be. I expect it to be fixed soon.

Same with CC (adv), 10 of us went in, all experienced L50s (granted a pug), 30-ish minutes later it was down to me in my support cruiser and a scimitar; we gave up.

Think after the server twitchiness settles down, will get some fleet mates together and give it another run. Seemed like half of what we were doing in the pug was doing nothing; so that may have been a factor.

Normal is level 50, Advanced is scaled to 60, and Elite is 60 only.

So you were all basically 10 levels behind in gear/abilities, no?

Perhaps. So nerf the rewards and scale up the difficulty. Yeah, that's a bright move.

Don't believe that was what was presented (as to advanced), but I may be wrong. For fleet alert which is a basic mission, the level of difficultly as it stands is beyond words... well I have a few but will not repeat them here...

    How about no.

Yes, I may have invested down the road, but from my first impressions of the new normal (if the current state is working as intended), I don't see much of this game in my future.

I think a few things may have gotten jacked up a bit. Gonna give it a few days and see if things settle down.

should but if you fail fleet alert... by wave 3... there's a problem

Yup, but people are really optimistic sometimes.. they seem all very new to this universe xD.

I used to do the normal fleet alert and i never failed it with mkX common equipment. It always was more or less easy. But if you tell me that now, i need the best equipment and ship to just do a "buffed" normal fleet alert... looooool, something is terrible wrong.

If it stands it's a buff of philosophy. It means these will not be "moneymakers" for players. Instead they will be occasional treats for fun.

I was saying I completed the advanced crystalline and ISE but they are a monster challenge. My hands are exhausted lol :)

I'm pretty sure the content is tailored for T6 and upgraded gear. Mostly the advanced and elite.

They have to sell their 30$ ships afterall, not counting the various R&D pack and upgrade packs. Or the dil.

The problem could be build/gear/player skill too. Not saying that's what the issue is for you personally, just that I've seen some really poorly built/played ships prior to DR.

that is true. But I've done this solo... with 4 other players barely doing 1k damage... and got the romulan boss.

    It's near impossible to fail.

Fleet Alerts are difficult? Hell Yeah!!! I'm loving seeing all these fail posts. No offense. It just means we are actually getting a real challenge.

Edit: I will put this caveat in, I haven't played it yet, so there could be an issue but I will reserve my right to recant all over the place when the time comes. :)

Not everything.... level 50 captains seem to have been left out.

    Doable in whos' dictionary? Cryptics'?

I've been doing these fleet alerts for a long while and I've never seen a pug fail this early. Yes when the Simitar would play hide and go seek, but that was some time ago and only during the final wave. I've completed them successfully with one player AFK and another flying a Miranda....

    This is just wrong.

Then enjoy really long queue times as people abandon STFs for easier content that pays better. Congrats!

Don't be so excited. Most players are casual and will walk after a few runs of this, never to return to STO. This is a free to play game.... we need lots of players in order for it to stay running. :(

Basically they lied. "easy" on DR is "elite" in 9.5. Which means if you're a casual player you are now S.O.L. in every way.

If you were able to compete in Elites before, you now must play easy -- which means naturally you get almost NO rewards for it, and especially no rep currencies ("Ancient Technology" I think it's called), so you're also screwed there, as well.

This has been on tribble for ages. They have shown no inclination to comment on it or fix it. Do NOT expect it to change. This is the new world order: Every player in the game is shafted unless they pay for upgrades to Mk14 gear, T6 ships, and bypassing timegates with dil.

We were hardly knocked down, but it felt like we were using Mk2 weapons. No one was dying any more than normal as far as I saw.

As to running away, that is left to be seen.

Level 50 Captains aren't at endgame level now. The new endgame is level 60 with either T5-U or T6 ships and MK XII - MK XIV gear.

As for the FA being too hard now, I can't really say for sure as I have to wait until later this evening to test. It's possible the setting is a bit too high due to a bug. I can say on Tribble we didn't have any issues with the new content in Fleet ships with Fleet/Rep gear.

Is the fleet alert end game? I remember doing my first fleet action at level 30.

Or you could take your time, use the upgrade system to upgrade your gear (no money). If you lack dil for the upgrade don't fret, play a foundry mission with the Officer Reports repeatable (every hour) and boom, instant 2K dill. For those not keeping up that's 2K dill/hour :o which should also give you a good some to buy either and upgrade token or a new T6 ship. And if you are concerned about poor foundry missions there are few pure space combat missions which dub nicely as ship testing that pay foundry rewards (i.e. no story, no clicking, just killing for 35 minutes). Play on normal for a while, some normal STF's, gain XP and other valuable rep points. Stack up on drops and EC for purchases and crafting. Learn new methods to defeat foes...tactics and strategies. Then ease your into more difficult gameplay until you can faceroll your enemies.

    all is well.

I hope your wrong about the lying.... for this games sake.

Yes I ran an STF on advanced, and the 480 dil was shall we say... underwhelming for the amount of time taken. :(
