I want STO: The Series to be about a bunch of random Admirals going around shooting stuff and getting into wacky adventures as they see how fast they can plow through it.

the series should be about toons, played by actors in live action, becoming self aware that they are being controlled by gamers and realizing there is nothing they can do about it

You need to add the "Good-Looking Federation Captain with a Phaser" and the "Busty Vulcan Science Officer" to your cast.

I think the correct terms are

    Handsome Phaser guys

    and

    T'TRIBBLE

I've updated the links in the first post.

Specifically, I'm about halfway into Season 2, by adapting the Wasteland and early parts of the Romulan Mystery story arcs into a handful of episodes.

If STO was a live-action TV series....

Upon exiting warp outside of any system or encounter, the bridge panels would drop their interfaces and rebooting them would fail. Assigned space and ground officers would be AWOL at random intervals.

In the midst of combat the helm officer would bring the ship to a complete stop each time he had something to say.

The first officer would make a killing off of contraband.

The chief engineer, after working on a system upgrade from XII to XIV would announce that it's 7.6% less effective than the original working parts, and that for the time being we've run out of dilithium.

The first officer would reconsider the rule of the captain going on away missions following the genocide of the previous mission.

The captain, upon news of his impending promotion, has a shower of gold swirling energy around him.

The armoury officer burns his copy of the Federation Charter after being asked to requisition Tharalon grenades.

Four senior level ambassadorial aides and an ambassador fail to arrange a peace treaty on Ashalon prime; but the cook and 2 entertainment holograms succeed.

The chief engineer has a nervous breakdown as the captain requests that 'we swap out the warp core for a shiney new ferengi model, and that we replace all the shielding with Romulan Elite Plasma shields' by the end of the day.

The captains red matter capacitor doesn't explode creating a black hole.

The vast majority of any mission is to pick through the scavenged remains of dead bodies and starships.

Well, pretty much all of ^this^ in a nutshell, although some of the dyson sphere missions such as "circles within circles" and "a step between the stars" as well as "surface tension" would make enjoyable episodes. Anything before that though, forget about it.

I think STO: the show would be better with my ship, captian, and crew.:D

What is worng with an escort? An Akira would work with your story of last ship of its class, espesialy with the Armitage class out. Just becuase it is a warship / escort does not mean the crew has to act like they do in the game.

Also note that as far as the series tech manuals are concerned, the Akira is a heavy cruiser, with potential to serve as a Peregrine carrier as well (it has an expanded shuttlebay for that). Cryptic shoehorned it into an escort role.

I believe, if you bother to look at her ... ahem ... shoulders, you'll find that she's a Tactical enlisted officer, according to the latest Starfleet Uniform Code. :P

True, and if you got the book that came with the model the Akira has more torpedo launchers then any ship has a right to.

"Enlisted officer" is an oxymoron. /nitpick

Not a huge fan of carriers or starfighters in general, even though the latter is canon (in the form of the Peregrine-class fighters seen in DS9).

I'm purposely avoiding escorts or ships designed to be overtly-offensive, since the underlying theme I'm wanting to play on is that despite their experiences with the Dominion War, the Federation is woefully unprepared.

Also, an escort would mean that the ship's crew would naturally be given important, front-line assignments; Zhang received command of an Intrepid-class because Starfleet Command wanted him out of the way (QSD tests notwithstanding), but he and his crew end up getting into some serious adventures.

    tl;dr:

    - Escort = cast being taken seriously by Starfleet Command, and assigned purely to combat missions

    - Outdated science ship = somewhat naive everyperson cast put into extraordinary situations, with ample opportunities for both conflict and exploration

    Update

I've filled out most of Season 2 with most of the Romulan Mystery FEs, and included a few episodes which introduces/develops the Klingon and Romulan Republic crews. The remaining episodes will be adapations of the Borg FEs, but I'm having trouble devising stories where the Borg are genuinely terrifying (as opposed to being reduced to Goldfish TRIBBLE Gangs by the time of Voyager)

I've also tossed in a few one-off episodes for later seasons. My favorite one so far involves *a* disgraced former captain of the USS Titan (nope, not Admiral Riker) who goes rogue along with his crew, steals their old ship and uses it to threaten the Fed-KDF detente that resulted from "Boldy They Rode".

As usual, feedback and critiques are appreciated.

You could do a Robot Chicken STO, if you had mild animation skills to put moving lips over the characters in game. Sorta like what I just suggested for a fun community activity in my thread here.

you were not in the military were you?

ok. I get where you are coming from. and I don't want to come across as argumentitve (sp?). just trying to through out some ideas. yes I love the Akira / Armitage so I am bias.

after the war Star Fleet would be happy to get back to the science / exploreation thing.

best crews asinged to science / exploration ships.

less then best crews asinged to escorts.

with Star Fleet foucsed on exploration, escorts reduced to support roles.

Adimral in charge my look down on escorts and crews becuase of science background.
