Just wondering if all the players without ARC installed will be getting any giveaway competitions for Delta Rising?

    No. The only way to redeem codes right now is the Arc Client, and they use codes to unlock special promos.

    I'd only worry about it if you actually win. :p

    So do the Steam users have to redeem it through ARC, or does it work differently for them?

    Nice to see that the ARC nonsense is going on.


    If you still believe that ARC sets fire to your computer, kidnaps your family and sells all your credit card information to Somalian pirates then that's too bad - You can't participate. I've had it installed for over half a year, since the very first promotion thing they did with it and i have yet to have my family kidnapped (Well, aside from the incident with the KGB - but that is a different story)


    Just because it's installed, you don't have to use it. Simply configure it so it doesn't start when your pc starts and it's completely unintrusive. Doesn't even badger you for updates no matter how long you have left it unused. I have literally started arc up a grand total of 4 times, to redeem a code, then go back to using steam.

    1) Install Virtualbox or any other VM of choice.
    2) Install XP on it...
    3) Install ARC, login & redeem.

    Uhhh... I installed ARC, and then a few days later, I kicked my dishwasher accidentally. IDK about you, but that's a pretty compelling reason not to install ARC!

    STO is already on the computer, and I definitely don't need the extra TRIBBLE of ARC.

    Why shouldn't these promos & giveaways be done with ALL players that play this game?

    Oh! I know that answer! They're using it to continue bribing players to use ARC!

    I just installed it on a cr*ppy old laptop that I don't care about, then just run that if I ever want to redeem a code. A bit clunky perhaps, but I have no data on that thing so no intrusion or impact on my in game performance.

    This is what I did, installed it and forgot it.

    I only have it for the codes, otherwise I never launch it.

    When I installed it, nothing horrible happened to me. Ok, yeah.. my Mom was kidnapped by Colombian Drug Lords and held for ransom but that also happened when I installed Steam so the problem was probably not with Arc.

    It just occurred to me that I should advise my Mom not to hang out with Colombian Drug lords anymore.

    I think it's a bit annoying that I have to use arc for the codes. I absolutely would not have it installed at all if I didn't have to use it for promo codes, something which could be done via the website I'm sure. I sure as heck don't want yet another program on my main rig, which is why I decided to whack it on the cr*ppy old laptop.

    through arc, its PWE own software, they want to make ARC the software to go to one day, that means running everything through ARC. for those with steam one day that are forced to choose between arc and steam, they wont have any other choice or forget any prizes at all. the moment that code is in and with your account linked through the launcher and the game, you receive it in seconds once the code is redeemed.

    I suspect so, yes. It's not that unusual t hat certain platforms are excluded from promotions, the only unusual may be that we would normally not consider Arc and Steam a platform since they're all on the PC.

    But I remember that mass effect 3 had special multiplayer events that were not available on some consoles because of the rules for that console.

    Actually, it's just the silly concept that we need it to play STO (unless you have Steam), that is the problem... That and alot of things people like you probably don't believe.
