Well, this and the Qib are buyers for me; luckily my main alts are Klingon Tac and Eng, so it fits perfectly. A T6 KDF science vessel for my Sci would also be welcome, but please make sure it's as good as the other two :).
    Yes.

You'd think it's time for a dedicated KDF SCI ship.

At level 50, players have seen:
    * KDF presence in the Delta Quadrant (with new threats emerging)
    * KDF presence in the Jenolan and Dyson Spheres
    * The Undine and Iconian attacks/threats (Mission: Surface Tension)

All of this would (hopefully) have motivated the KDF to advance their scientific research to combat these foes.

Make it so, Cryptic! Time for a new T6 KDF SCI ship! (And a T5 for those KDF members who are still leveling up!)

I ran into a ship I had never seen before, but knew very well from watching DS9. A JHAS. I'll skip the gory, hilarious details of that fight...
Sounds like you got to really experience what the folks on DS9 experienced. ;)

On the contrary, I was very shocked  You see, on DS9, during the Dominion War, Bugships were easily, hands down, the most often destroyed ships in the entire Star Trek franchise. I'll even include JJ Trek in this. Every battle scene where the Dominion engaged, you could not change a camera angle without seeing a handful of Bugships blow up. Seriously, watch all Dominion War related scenes. Bugships were about as sturdy as trying to block being hit by a semi-truck by holding up a wet paper bag. The only advantages to the Bugs onscreen were mass numbers, firepower, speed. Sturdiness was nonexistent.

Bugships in onscreen canon made Mirandas, Birds of Prey, shuttles look like you were flying a Sovereign-class.

    Yet in STO...

Half a day later, I can't really express just how happy I am for this ship. It looks awesome and very Klingon, it's brutal, wild....it's what I was dreaming of.
I always had a soft spot for Raptors I just didn't utilize them much because they lacked......well, everything. The Mat'Ha changes this, let's hope it will push a new era for Klignon Raptors and bring them back to their rightfull place in this game.

Correction - even an upgraded Scimitard doesn't stand a chance from a suprise attack by this Klingon embodiment of pure destruction. Especially if caught by suprise or from the rear.

But yeah, it's wicked sexy. That nose spinal cannon looks awesome! Cryptic has a habbit of always nailing Klingon designs, every single one looks epic. And commeth the Mogh, and now this - it seems they're finally staring to nail the setups KDF players prefer on their ships.

Oh...and wellcome to the dark side, Lu.....Worf....fan... :D:P

    Clearly you mean Gre'thor. ;)

Yeah, this ship is going to break ALL of the PVE cannon DPS records to smithereens.

With a couple of smaller escorts to guard it in PVP, this thing can nuke anything. It won't be terribly great against smaller escorts, but against a jem dread, an oddy, or a Scimitard?

Fuhgeddaboutit. This sexy mother engine of destruction is going to pound that Feddy Bear behemoth into space dust and chew on its pieces.

um, to farm FM's and Omega marks in PVE content? (in Ker'rat this is going to be the new class of victim...)

PVP is already in desperate trouble (Lockbox/Rom or GTFO) and the gap between the elite "haves" and regular players is only going to get worse with the introduction of Mk XIV gold gear. So to dismiss this ship as "sub optimal for PVP" is getting to be a pretty meaningless statement.

Anyway, given that it's at least got a standard cloak, I can see utility as a Ker'rat vaper preying on robust Fed farmer ships. Interesting to note the parallel threads in the PVP forum debating the Mat'ha's utility also question whether, with the extra turn / speed buffs in DR, that 1-2 turn rate difference is going to be that much of an issue - looks like player reactions are going to be more of a factor than ship numbers.

I somewhat concur with this here. PvP has been broken for some time, but currently is in a very sad state of affairs.
Last time I went to a war zone and it was recently (granted I was not in a PvP ship, nor in a very outfited one - just wanted to clear dailies from my list) I got slapped by multiple GWs, photonic fleet, the black goo console and a few more things I couldn't identify which would put New Year Eve's fireworks show to shame making my screen go into an epileptic seizure. Literally. The ship I had is not top notch, but a solid tank so it was still at some 60% after the initial suprise attack I suffered, but I couldn't do much. Not because my machine can't take the graphics, but because my eyes couldn't take what was going on. I could barely see anything, it was like someone popped a hundred Party Amplifiers in front of my screen.
This my friends, is not how PvP should be and not a very good indicator of the state of that part of the game. I'm not someone who TRIBBLE and I have no problem getting insta-killed by some of the legendary vapers of this game or even admit that I'm not very good at PvP. But when I can't react not because the oponent was too good, or I sucked too much - but because my eyes can't porcess what the heck is going on, that's no fun. Not at all.

So that said, I can't really judge the KDF ships' effectiveness based on a broken part of the game. When PvP gets the attention it deserves and when the devs. decide to repair it and make it fun as it used to be, then we can judge ships by those parameters as well. Until then, it's pointless.
I do intend to take the Mat'Ha into PvP after a while though, patrickngo, I may have a few insane ideas to make it work. We shall see, the ship is very far from being bad IMHO.

That said, both the KDF T6 ships - the Mat'Ha and the Qib are the bomb for PvE content. They may need to be tested in PvP but this much is obvious. Which for a game with majority of casual PvE players is not bad at all. The KDF needs to grow and be strong and in a game where a huge majority of the players are causal PvE players and Trek fans first and foremost, having top-notch agressive ships that demolish PvE content like there's no tomorrow is a very good thing for the faction. It may bring more casual people to the red side when they see how fun those ships are. The Mat'Ha has more firepower than we begged for in many years and the Qib is a fast battlecloaking battlecruiser, a BC Captain's dream.

Smart business move on Cryptic's part, by the way. For all the people complaining about the Mat'ha's turn rate, you're obviously intended to want to throw the Qib's Tier 5 Ship Trait onto it.

Shpoks is right, just one look at this thing and I can tell it's going to be the KDF's Scimitard.

This thing is raw firepower given form. And it is BEAUTIFUL.

So I'm thinking based on the Trait, Torpedo, 3 DHCs, DBB Front. 2 Turrets rear.

Because of the low turn rate and standard cloak I was thinking of using beams with FAW for the rear weapons. Can't wait to try them on Tribble.

Enhanced biotorp, elite fleet disruptor DBB and DHCs front, KCB and heavy bio turret aft, hydro compensator, Undine tac console, THY, BO, CRF and CSV, TTx2...

    That is like firepower incarnate.

I love the PvP in this game upto a point that is.

at lvl 50+ it sucks. i still go sometimes and even get some kills in. every couple days just feels good to get that fed captain killer mission LOL

but its not fun at that lvl. now i say over and over again i only play kdf and thats true and i think an advantage since we do not have so much junk to buy it made outfitting with really good gear allot cheaper. but its just not fun with all the gadgets and toys . and like others above have said the eyes can handle all that flashing going on. its like trying to watch JJ trek.

so what i do is i make a new fresh kdf toon and take it into the warzone and work him on borg and if lucky enough to get a feddy bear to enter i attack

and i pretty much stay there just leave to unload loot and get fresh gear as i lvl up.

since lower lvl gear is account bound i can jsut store it all up. and not have to buy it over and over again.

but i wondered off the point . i play it lvl 49 or till it gets killed in PvP 3 times which ever comes 1st , then delete it and start over . its a heck of allot more fun. and becomes more about captian skills. than it does how much money you have or how much time you had to grind things. its just fun.

no lock box garbage non of the things that have made the game creepy

As such, I'll be naming mine the original name. :P MaHa!

Does not hurt to point out facts...

question is... why do ppl just quit talking about inbalances that effects PvP gameplay and allow inbalances to continue further without saying anything?

Somebody got to do it even if it's sumwhat minor, balance in pvp is not perfect in all MMO's but u can try to put stuff on par or near comparable to others...

AFTER a point, you realize that you're talking to the walls. Cryptic's developers may have Klingon toons, but they're for farming dilithium and Contraband, nothing more, and they may play, but it's not at Ker'rat or in the PvP ques.

These are the guys who think "More Hitpoints and More 'bots with occasional 'f-key' spamming" is somehow going to make PvE something OTHER than a raw DPS race.

Yes i know i am talking to a wall that's layered 1000 times, but still... sum1 have to speak some sort of reason even it's one out of a trillion chance to get Cryptic to change their ways of thinking.

I've doubt any of the Dev's have any KDF toons, i only know one Dev that have, Captain Smirk (Ferasen) but he does not have the power to decide what goes in the game or not. as for Dev's farming Dilithium they prob programmed their Fed Toons to have infinite amounts of them.

And of course the Dev's don't play Ker'rat or any PvP queue's, last Dev that did that was BranFlakes before he quited (or forced to resign or secretly fired by Geko for playing PvP).

I give it a week (after DR) before feds start crying for nerf or crying for their own better version of it. :P
If they get a better version, I give it a month (after the crying starts) before it arrives.

sci is the least love and least played of all three types, i doubt they would spend time on making a sci ship specialy for a lower pop and less played type of player. not to mention the fact they just realsed the sci heavy dyson ships.
