I didn't intend ERPing with my response, I am sry if you interpreted it as such, but I assume that every pvp-fleet has a bogey opponent in some point.
erping? lol.... gimme some of that smoke-stuff ... i just had to think of the fact we beat premades that got urs, but never could do it ourselves. therefore, yeah: boogeymen (tbh: t'lilu always scared me the most :P) .... just good times
I remember this era, especially these times around the first and second NO BS tourneys. It was definetely a hard nut to crack this type of setup back then since nobody used to run aux2damp on their ships (aux2damp doff hadn't existed yet) or skill points in Inertial Dampeners to neutralize the fully skilled PSW3 stun enduring for around 6 sec. The metagame was completely different these days. We often had a tough time of it with handling this modest but efficient-running build.
Everyone who didn't run a TRIBBLE skilltree skilled into inertial dampeners. You could never push PSW3 to 6 seconds, even with all of the gear. Probably around 4.5, before resists.
When I one shotted a Federation starship at 100% shields and hull with my javelin. I never laughed so hard in a game before.
The poor Oberth... or was it an NX? Turned to space dust in mere microseconds... (Actually, I'm curious what Tier/type starship you took down so quickly.)

i agree to that, each fleet makes its own experiences to certain opposing premade teams

ofc, you are completely right, brother . Since I hadn't put skill points into inertial dampeners those days, I was very vulnerable to abilities inflicting stun effects on me. A fully skilled PSW 3 could have stunned me for approx. 4.5 sec max, I just estimated that its disable would have lasted for "around 6 sec" because I felt it in this manner^^. My estimation could have truly been inflated.

It was a tier 5 ship, I think a Prometheus. It's been a while. Disclaimer: I don't know what kind of build or skill the player had. Those javelins can pack quite a punch sometimes.
I new Hannibal would bring his A game. Was also pretty sure he would be in the new Xindi escort. I had seen them a couple of times in Ker'rat at that point, as well as in the PvP ques.
I new the ship had potential, real potential. What I didn't take into account at the time was the new Xindi ship in conjunction with the new Xindi Traits.
Specifically Intense Focus & Pattern Recognition.
These traits coupled with that ship, in the hand of an experienced PvP means I got taken to skool & WTF PWND.
Was I frustrated after the match, HELL YES...
Is frustrated an understatement as to my true feelings after the match, HELL YES...:D
Did I have a sleepless night, call in sick to work the next day for the sole purpose of review the video and find out exactly what kind of OP space magic, Hannibal had used against me, HELL YES...:P

D,
lol, such things happen and are mostly common in duels and also happened to me quite often especially in earlier days, but it is the best way to advance a large step forward as a 1v1 player if someone faces difficult and tough opponents, analyze what was going on after the match, adapt and come back stronger in force later on which you did aswell. I proceed that way all the time if I get confronted with ongoings that I cannot explain myself during a fight. Unfortunately only very few pvpers reviewin much less analyze their matches after getting defeated, instead they start qqing or accusing their opponents for using cheats or whatever.
Moreover a 1v1 Player should not refuse playing unusual setups or troll builds aswell. New things can be learned from them too, in my opinion at least.. - "No No I only fight tac escorts" is the wrong way to go if someone wants to take part in serious 1 on 1. The need for challenge is the most optimal principle for duelers who want to improve their coordination and builds more and more.
That is one of the essential aspects for successful outcome of a match.
There was one late Season 5 my fleet had with Synergy. I think there were some other people too, it was a while back so I couldn't say from whom every one was from.
Had a lot of fun jousting with Ardiem in that one, he had a dangerous Defiant build (who didn't?). I had a very unorthodox build of Tet + Trico back then, shields down fast with Tet and then pop a Heavy Trico on the exposed flank point blank range. I wouldn't dream of that today but it was quite effective on my Fleet Escort (now Patrol Escort, of course) at the time.
Other fun times going up against people who were card carrying members of the AP/Quantum mafia back then in my Tac Ody with Polaron + Chroniton & 2/3 Jem Mk 11 set. That one made a few people unhappy for sure.
I haven't PvPed as much since LoR, and my participation was declining with Season 6 to be honest. Go into a PUG now and out comes the P2W buffs. Out of all the revisions of the game I have played, Season 5 (when I joined STO) was the strongest I experienced in build/game skill = win. I miss it alot, despite also being happy about new content.
If there was a Season 5 with Voth Battlezone and working PvP on Andoria, that'd be about perfect.
About 2 years ago LAG-industries asked for a premade fight,
and we had so few PvP'ers at that moment I had to ask
other fleets......
long story short: we lost... I think 12:15 or so, but when it looked
not good for us I got a 20% GDF and activated all my other buffs and
then wiped the whole Lag-team in 10 sec......damn

Greetz Siegfried
hi Siegfried,
It sounds that you executed a formidable counterstrike against them, congratz to that .
There was a beautiful 10v10 that Mini and the oPvP community organized a month or so ago. Match time lasted some thirty, fourty minutes, with a kill cap of 50 kills. There were multiple skirmishes taking place at different levels of the map, all the teams were coordinating well, and I was getting great performance out of my Palisade, hull burning enemies, just barely managing to avoid dying several times.
Lots of great fun, and the scores were very close. I think my team actually lost that one at the end, but the scores were neck in neck, and we had so much fun that it didn't really matter if there was a 'win' or 'lose' outcome.
I remember two events. I was pugging with the Excelsior, and encountered a CSI premade (before RvB queues). My team got wiped out, and I stood alone against them all. Was holding my ground when I got subnuked. It looked like "there, here I go respawning!". Instead, I used Romcloak, my ship disappeared and used Ramming Speed. The guy in front of me exploded, while I survived the hit and got away. Epic just epic.
Other one was in a 10v10. Something like Murphy's rule. Sharx was destroyed by Scimitar Barbie's scimi, I decloaked and killed him. A minute next I got caught and went ka-boom as well ^^

You are right, my dutch boozing companion ;p, this snakie guy cracked me up aswell^^, btw MT did you know that he comes up with a powerful and unique universal console?
Can only be used on T' Varo Warbird retrofit and Fleet T' Varo retrofit
Ability type: PBAoE Confusion, Placate, and Perception debuff
3 min Cooldown
Infinite range
Target: Foe (10 max)
-9,570 Perception for 15 sec
+ 50 Confuse for 15 sec
Placate for 15 sec
Description:
This console has been designed to make the opponent' s current target binds obsolete. After activation the user will immediately be transferred onto to start-up screen where he has the opportunity to change his toon name into "Peepee" applying a massive AoE confusion and Placate debuff to all enemies on the map for a brief duration. Moreover, the user gets untargettable by adding an intensive AoE perception debuff as long as the former target binds remain active. The effect of this ability will only be negated when the foe adapts his target keybind to the user' s new character name.
