As everyone already knows, the imminent expansion of Delta gold mining/grinding is going to hit holodeck soon which might completely change the current pvp-metagame. In honour of this occasion I would like to remember the earlier days of awesome and gripping PvP-matches before the actual pvp-gameplay will be changing irreversibly.
According to your perspective, which of the PvP matches in those you particpated would be the one, where you'd snap your finger or bang your fist on the table and say:
"Yep, thats it! That is the most memorable match I was in and which is never to be forgotten as long as this game exists!"
I
nitially, I'll present mine as a small example:
During the last 2 years of sto pvp I took part in plenty of awesome and exciting matches but there is one game which sticks out exceedingly and outshines all the other matches by far regarding tension, action, dramatics and epicness!
It deals with the match Inner Circle vs Sad Pandas 17:15 (15:10) (actual match duration: 75 min) that took place on 6th october, 2013 and was the most intense and most fiercly fought insanity of a match I have ever seen, being filled with nerve-racking tension, outbursts of emotions and many dramatic turning points packed in a single match.
The match originally was set up as a usual private challenge because a member of the pandas asked for available premades to fight againt in OPvP - channel. One of our PvP-players accepted the challenge rashly although we didnt have a full pvp-team combat-ready. As a result we managed to knock together a team with the assistance of Snog from -Nova Core-, back then and discussed a game plan against thie opposing pvp-fleet subsequently. Nobody of us thought that this encounter would lead to such a titanic battle, not even in our wildest dreams^^. As the game progressed our team was highly concentrated and became more and more obsessed about the ongoing struggle. The strategical thinking, variety of tactics aswell as the enormous combative spirits that both rivalring fleets showed was very outstanding. After numerous dramatic turnarounds and emotions our confidence increased further by successfully executed counterattacks on the opposing vaper. Even our team captain (Ilhank) was yelling with the intention to encourage us when the battle turned in favor of the opponent: Come on guys, kill him! Do it for Sparta!.
Emotional and dramatic moments creating an atmosphere of pure epicness which made it to an unforgettable match sinking deep into memory and I am honoured that I had the opportunity to participate in it.
Technically the match ended 15-10 in our favor but we haven't arranged a match time limit. However, around 7(!) kills haven't been counted during this encounter so the the final result amounted 17-15.
so according to you; what was your most exciting and memorable match you've been part of? I am curious and would be looking forward if you share your memories in STO PvP.

I basically had been a week out of practice in that build, and had resolved to play it more aggressively than I had in the past. I was also undergeared compared to where I should have been, but it worked more or less.
Since then the build is now more geared then it was then, but it's a more redundant build now.
Cool, if you particularly remember a specific match you've won that contains unique events, feel free to share it in here

i remember something with a ship that fired at other ship and one of them popped.Ive yet to decide if that was in sto or other game
Another one was when I was trying to take down lourens' super tank Obelisk, with some epic resists, like 65% kinetic resists or higher. I overbuffed my Scimitar including GDF, and went for a decloak ram. 220093 Kinetic Damage. Man the laughs we had on TS.

The game wasn't memorable for being any kind of grudge match or a game with any particular stakes involved, but it did take about an hour and a half to complete. I was on Tac in a PvE beam Mogh, with Kell as Engineer providing the other DPS option in a cannon Tor'kaht. As you can see in the screencap, Tala (Marc) left the game. About halfway through the game and in the middle of some intense science wizardry, we're struggling to get a kill with our limited spike. Zelda's picking a target or some such and remarking on the amount of time it's taking to kill them and he yells "and WHERE THE F*** IS MARC?". Best moment of a memorably funny game.
It's when I first started joking about the wheeeee thing. Five guys chasing me around the map, complaining in zone to kill me - while leaving themselves exposed to get picked off by the rest of the guys in my PUG.
It was a trip - cause it's exactly what should never happen in PvP, but it happens all the time - has happened in multiple games. It's a PvE thing, though - from the opposite angle.
So there you are, doing some PvE - you've got some mega boss that's got an army, is a threat to the world, yadda yadda yadda...yet the boss focuses on the tank it cannot kill while ignoring the healer keeping the tank alive and the DPS that are actually killing it.
Players should know better, right? There's no "tanking" in PvP. The "tank" guy is a wasted spot, he'll be the last guy killed, etc, etc, etc.
But there they were...trying to kill me as I flew around...going wheeeeee.
So yeah, that would have to be my most memorable...cause that's where I got the wheeeeee.
Should note, mind you - against even pugmades - 3x Sci/2x Tac or 2x Sci/3x Tac with some coordination...there wasn't much wheeee going on. But that match and enough of them that followed...well, that all played a part in how I built Willard to bounce around going wheeee...neener-neener.
It is kind of sad, cause Hell - I'll do it myself at times - that without some coordinated target calling...we become NPCs beating away on the meatshield while ignoring those that are actually a threat. Then again, I guess that just allows somebody else the chance to...
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
At first everything was going smoothly, but then one of our teammates vanished and another one shortly after that. Suddenly we were on the losing side and the enemy slowly started to rack up kills (mostly me, since I kept sending heals to my teammates without saving anything for myself). But the almighty subnuc combined with the VM and PSW eventually gave us the upper hand again.
we faced a whole lotta pandas in there and even more came in after the match started. that day we cut through them like butter. i guess they just not had us on the radar or such, never collected that many panda-skins in a single match .
2nd would be the c&h in which i got recruited to nova core. a bunch of novas (can remember methous and jorge for sure). i have been on my armitage, flying directly into the novas, got down below 50% really quick and suddenly insta-rammed jorges recluse to dust-bits. on the next run i flew directly into them, just to kill methous out of their middle. next thing i remember was a pm, ask me to join the core .
3rd when i first met reggie. he bug, me mobius. he as the only tac on his team. they just not got me once (tif-tanking ftw) ...
so many good matches more with my laggies! i miss those premade-times (and my mdl!), but the meta ruined it all for me .
I was trying out a new heal boat Nebula build. This was right after they changed GW so that engine power had more of an effect on the pull (many, many balance passes ago); so my older CC build wasn't working any more and I needed a new niche.
I was really struggling; not so much because I was having trouble getting the hang of the build, but because there was so much power spam going on that it was hard to see what was happening. In the end, I stopped watching the battle completely, and just focused on the UI info. This turned out to be something of a game changer.
Suddenly my team was invincible. They learned pretty quickly not to get to far from me; which was just as well, because if I had to look for them through all the special effects then they were doomed. The best tactic our opponents could come up with to beat my heals was to focus their attacks on me, and ignore the rest of the team; and even that didn't work half the time, because if I focused on healing myself I could tank the whole lot of them for a good 3 minutes at a time (didn't have anything left over for my team, but since they weren't getting shot, they didn't need it).
Ended up with a 15-6 win. Not uncommon against a bad pug (even for me), but these guys were actually pretty decent (2 skilled vets for certain, and only one guy who plainly didn't have a clue what he was doing).
You are absolutely right, I can only share this view equally to your experiences. The old days of pvp used to be pvp where the most action- packed fun events took place back then due to the existance of a considerable variety of pvp- fleets and players with stronger personalities! These days simple rinciples like:"Less qq, more pew pew". I also miss this kind of sto pvp more and more. Especially if we are going to get confronted with the changes of delta gold mining uhm, I mean "rising" this feeling of wanting back earlier pvp gameplay is even intensified...

....jaja, "ich park j'luc ma im plasma, da f
LoL that will teach me to say "just bring what ever you want guys" although you have to ask yourself if minimax had made it to the match, would you still have won by such a large margin? (It would have been much quicker, mini's spike is ridiculous and matched only by his squishyness)
Why couldn't your healer have been the one to not make it ? :P
I remember Hanni,. this was really nice. For me also the Best Match ever.

But its allways nice vs Sad Pandas.. over the Years i must say.. you Guys are really really good and i enjoy these fights everytime.
greetings
PS. Hannibal,.. i wish you nice Hollidays. Come back soon dude.
*** R.I.P. ***
After that, it was a really really balanced and fun match, definitely one one of the most interesting at that time

Most memorable though has to be one against nova core almost two years ago. We had been on it for probably over an hour and we were down 10-13. It was not looking good, and then our of nowhere we got into a perfect roll and picked up 4 kills. The last nova core guy tried to retreat down to regroup but my old busy Prax, beamedown and I managed to chase him down and get him before he could and ended the match.
It's always those matches when you snatch victory from the jaws of defeat that I enjoy the most.
Nothing is impossible to him who would try.... except getting cryptic to care about pvp.
1 was me and Gizmo(John Rose) dual queued and ending up in fierce 15:14 match where at the result of 14:14 i was caught in cloak and dropped 2 times to 1% hull and 1 time to 0%, still managed to survive and kill last guy who had FBP on
Fast match recap here and from here:

Other one was fast and intense 5 feds in fed ships vs 5 klinks pug which ended 15:12.
Shame i had to take video down due to some problems with music copyright.
But here is Hilbert report

SpecialTemporal PUG 100K DPS Build
We are Travelers
Like this for example?
Was a pug vs. pug.. other team had two healers and I think my team was a full tac team.. maybe one sci... it's from february.. memory is failing me.
Actually, from names i see there it was not a PUG vs PUG, 1 team had 4 members of Ad Infinitum with one PUG, your team could have been full PUG, but yeah, strange, never had draw, can sometimes happen with backsteps that you can go over 15 kills or get strange results

SpecialTemporal PUG 100K DPS Build
We are Travelers
I saw a 15 all one time only.
It ended with a ramming speed (ironically to me) which resulted in both my death and that of the rammer.
That is not my most memorable however.
The best match I ever did was actually back when I was in Omega Primary (all the same guys that eventually joined Vice), versus Vice Squad.
it was me, sisko, zetto, saphy, and sigmus vs taylor, lucius, lone, skittles, and i forget the last guys name, but he was a tac from vice.
Match time went over 80 minutes, there were several crashes involved (OP lost me for a couple minutes, and Vice lost two guys for part of the late fight, and the final score was 15-14 Vice after they came back down 14-8 or 14-9)
Heal war, with 10 million+ heals done by Saphy and Skittles, and everyones damage was in the 3+ million range. Total DPS/Heal battle royale. I was our only sci, and my crash completely changed momentum, we never could reestablish timers and the like, but it was one of the most intense and even fights I have ever been part of.
Edit to add - and no Taylor, I am not talking about the one you probably are thinking of, this one was a week before, one of the first times we ever matched up vs old school Vice.

The match linked in the first post was where it first got truly defeated. Only just though :P
Oh, and this one. Never had so many random people congratulating us for winning, ever. It was moving to say the least
Also the atmosphere on TS was brilliant.
I decided to test it out in a cap and hold. When i went in there there was this guy he was doing well killing people and then saying how he was the best escort pilot ever bla bla.
I thought what better a target then him to test it on the guy raged so bad after i vaped him a few times he never stopped pming me all kinds of racist coments and hate.
So he would not let me forget the ravaging he received either!
I remember this era, especially these times around the first and second NO BS tourneys. It was definetely a hard nut to crack this type of setup back then since nobody used to run aux2damp on their ships (aux2damp doff hadn't existed yet) or skill points in Inertial Dampeners to neutralize the fully skilled PSW3 stun enduring for around 6 sec. The metagame was completely different these days. We often had a tough time of it with handling this modest but efficient-running build.
