If you're ship has a means on giving you, say, +40% all damage for a few seconds before even considering whatever TAC buffs and abilities you apply, why not use it?

    Unless you're a fool?

    I guess, huh?

Edit to add: Actually, you make sense from what I've seen in game. Those Roms that don't even use cloaks, despite them providing stealth and some of the most powerful attack bonuses you can get for a rather lengthy period of time without using captain or BOFF abilities. Despite the fabulous BOFF traits that make the Roms so OP with their cloaked warfare. You are EXACTLY like those guys.

    What a waste...
Wow. Just wow. I had no idea some people would feel so strongly about what I posted originally. Which was in response to somepne complaining about being unable to stay cloaked against NPCs.

I say again. Against NPCs. Non Player Characters. Which are controlled by a very poor Artificial Intelligence. Which is a really fancy name for a program subroutine.

It struck me as amusing. So I posted. Because for a brief span of time, I forgot these are the STO Forums. Where some people are taking perscription Midol. And have had their sense of humor surgically removed.

If someone needs to cloak against am AI opponent in this game because otherwise they have no chance at survival, let alone victory, then let them. It is funny to me and I will laugh about it in public. If they haven't figured out by now how to simply work around a broken game mechanic which will likely remain broken with pwe/cryptic's track record for rectifying errors, then too bad for them. I learned how and I'm not even the smartest person playing this game.

STO is a game. Nothing more. Those attack bonuses you went on about? They are not real. It's all make believe. I refuse to treat this game or any aspect of it with the near religious fervor some FanBois do at every available opportunity.

I generally forgo the cloaking bonuses because I have found I play well enough I do not really need them against NPCs. It is a technique called "Learn To Play".

Is the cloak there or not there to be used? Yes.

Do they or do they not bring a bonus to your attack strength? Yes, they do, quite a bit.

Then you say, "Learn To Play" which is glorious and something you need to apply yourself. Use what your ship is capable of.

Or not, and be a waste

You talk about STO only being a game. No ****???!!!?? It is?!? You talk about refusing to "treat this game or any aspect of it with the near religious fervor" etc, etc, etc... yet... you're here posting about it. Posting in an STO official forum with a post count of over 1000. Really?

    Tsk, tsk LOL

You're in the mood to argue with someone.

Most of my posts are in Ten Forward in silly pointless threads about bacon and sandwiches and banning people for stupid reasons.

My original post, which you've seemed to have fixated on, was simply me being the smartass I am most of the time. I did have a second post further on where I explained this.

I am okay with keeping your attention focused on me though. Because as long as you are sitting there waiting to pounce on my next type written mistake two things are occuring.

You are not bpothering the decent people around here.
    You are not playing STO.

That's right. Every. Single. Second you are waiting to see what I post next so you can be right in public once more is one less second you are playing STO. It is a second you will never get back. You have wasted a part of your life proving how wrong I am to someone who couldn't care less whether he is wrong or not.

You have won, haven't you? bravo. What a stunning victory! World changing, even. Ages from now, people will publicly express dismay and anguish they were not here standing beside you at the moment of your penultimate victory. Kudos to you.

Take a look at my forum name :D

As long as you submit your defeat, then that is fine with me.

    You may leave now

Now that we're done could we please return the thread to it's owner?

Might wanna turn on your sarcasm detector as well. You obviously missed what I was typing, hero.

Decloaking because you are picking some loot is fair

If it's fair then why a ship doesn't decloak when I accept an item through need/greed buttons?
