What is everyone's obsession with a new playable faction anyways? I think I remember them saying there was NOT going to be a new playable faction in X2.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

No Cardy faction...which was a good call.
NO to ARC RIP KDF and PvP 2014-07-17 Season 9.5 - Death by Dev
The borg cooperative might end up being Cryptic's 'excuse' to add playable borg ships, much like the Tal Shiar ships were their way of getting around their promise not to add faction ships (since they are tal shiar and not republic!)
Iam ok with the Borg cooperative becoming a playable faction, why not. It doesn't necessarily mean they will become just as powerful as the Borg themselves. So many possibilities, i just hope the DQ expansion is executed well, but i have been let down in the past.

Ding ding ding: Winner. Excuse to use ANOTHER existing in-game asset and to get another Lockbox made on the cheap.
Expect playable Borg Spheres over ESD in late 2014 or early 2015.
No, they said no faction period with the expansion. That aside, they have already stated that cardassians will be coming at some point. they just haven't said when
What the hell is the obsession with Borg? Collective, Cooperative... bleh!
Even a liberated Borg can't ever be fuly trusted for fear of being taken over by a strong collective and turned. And the Cooperative as being "good"? I seem to remember they had no qualms using teir influrnce to take over Chakotay against his will to serve their own endgame.
I think I could see Cryptic's next step with the "Co-Operative" being a lock box that offers - instead of Mirror Universe ships - a selection of Assimilated Starships, that have their primary roles messed with instead of their secondary roles. Example for Feds (since I don't know anything about Klingon ships, and you really don't get a lot of "choice" with Romulans):
They would handle differently from their unassimilated cousins, but would be cross compatible with the skin designs to offer a new way to play using one of your old ship costumes!!
Except Cardassians were voted most wanted next faction below Romulans...there aren't a whole lot of fans a borg faction and probably almost as many people who don't want one.
Also there is the little fact that they said no new faction for the next expansion...not no Cardassian faction.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Yes, no faction in the next expansion... what about expansion 3? Or expansion 4?

No Cardassian faction until Romulans and Klingons have a greater store selection.

There is absolutely no doubt now this is the next faction to come after work on Delta Rising is done, the Cooperative is exactly parallel to what the new Romulans are in just about every way,
1: They are refugees of what they used to belong to, just like the new Romualns are refugees from the Romulan Star Empire, and they have a new world they are building up and creating new style ships and tech based upon their former lives like in that image posted in this thread. This also means the cooperative ships can be scaled more properly for current STF's and missions.
2: They have a mission or so where we are helping rescue them, much like the New Romulans.
3: The devs have considered a liberated borg faction way back among other candidates and they'd be done as the Romulans were. They only clearly said no to a collective borg faction, not a lib borg faction.
4: The devs made mention of a playable faction that may happen related to the Delta quadrant, and only the cooperative borg fit in any similarity to the new Romulans!
5: They also are pretty sure to have a reputation just like New Romulus reputation which happened before the playable Romulan faction launched.
6: They'd likely only do factions in their space region of development interest, they are focused on the Delta quadrant for now, and that means only a Delta quadrant player faction would be on their agenda of creating a playable faction, Cardassians have that against them now unless they focused on the Gamma or Beta quadrant after the Delta Quadrant. And that won't be anytime soon. While Cardies did win in popularity, they aren't feasible right now because of development focus so the Cooperative is coming first! Cardassians would require fleshing out of the other Quadrants at the same time.
There is more stuff as well that I'm certain is further hints among this already fairly concrete evidence that the faction is now inevitable after they are done launching Delta Rising.

What concrete evidence? Your "evidence" could be constructed as proof of Talaxians/Ocampans/Race-of-the-Week being the next faction.
I don't think new faction is coming... & mean, it'd be something they'd hype much more, no...?
Aside of that, I really love the Cooperative, but I'd rather see the devs to focus on current factions, than to do another one, which won't be given love, as there's so much to do, and so few people to do the work on it.

It was pretty officially quiet until the Roms were just about to be released so this wouldn't be much different. Delta Rising is like the New Romulus season which predated Legacy of Romulus launch a fair amount of time, it's still going to be a fair while before they begin shaping it into the final product that they will wish to announce. Probably at least 4/6 months after Delta Rising I predict.
After all, no faction is ever going to be as expansive as the federation, What we see in the KDF and Roms today is pretty much what can be expected for anything else in the future realistically, And it's not that bad in terms of options really at this point, though I will admit the KDF needs a few more incentives down the road here, their ship selection while diverse, is lacking in terms of solid capability beyond say battle cruisers, B'Rel (which really needs some buffing) and so on.
Tend to agree, The Cardassian's aren't really viable in terms of game play, the Borg on the other hand could add a whole new aspect to the game although, they would have to come up with a multitude of missions before the launch just to get them ranking up! it an interesting thought but I feel that missions would probably be repetitive assimilate species 135, rank up assimilate species 4596 and so on not much diplomacy or text driven missions just go out there and assimilate or blow them up!!
