I've got my Gorn Tac to 50 on flying BoP's and they're a blast to fly. But my thread asking about BoP's also got me thinking, what other ships might be fun to give a go on my Tac.
So what is your favorite Klingon or allied ship to fly with your Tac officer?
Right now I fly the Mirror Somraw exclusively but I did use BoPs as I levelled. The Boff seating is perfect for my toon and his science slant skill set.

On my KDF toons i tend to pick the ships that only they have and the feds/roms dont have. IE the raiders with their universal boff stations and you already know about that. But also i like to mess around in the carriers and equip frigate/raider pets. Not counting the lockbox carriers, the feds do have carriers but they can only use fighters and shuttles. Rom have Scims which can use the drone ship, but you only get 1 hangar bay and the 2 romulan drone ships isnt quite as cool as a Voquv with 4 BoP pets. Although the rom drone ship pets do have a holo imager type deal so depending on who is nearby they change appearances from a borg probe, an undine frigate or a BoP.
But anyways i wont mention BoPs since you already have the other thread going for your BoP. But maybe consider the Kar'fi and Voquv and see how you like out carriers. My Sci has a torpedo boat Karfi and it's pretty fun. I have a Hyper Plasma, Hargh Peng, TCB and a Breen cluster. The boff stations are just right and it allows me to use GW3 and TS3/THY2 or THY3/TS2. I have a mirror voquv on my tac and it's not nearly as fun. But it does have the 'cool' factor because i have 2 vr BoP hangars. So i'll have 4 little BoP pets flying around tearing stuff up. Only reason i say it isnt as fun is i'm more dependent on the pets for damage with my Voquv. So i have to micromanage them a bit so they dont get caught in warp core breaches. With my Kar'fi torp boat i run 4 Fer'jai frigate pets, but i dont really care if they die. Cause i'll have like a ton of torpedoes of various types flying at a mob hehe.
T5 is a dead-end now, so if you're asking about ships to buy its like asking which T4 ship should you buy. Wait unitl they release a T6 you want.
As for cheap T5 ships, I would stick to mirror ships on the exchange. Mirror Qin is a decent escort with 2+1 engi for heals but can be awkward for some people. Miror Vo'Quv can be fun if you run it like a battleship with fighter support, something to counterbalance your Hegh'ta. That will give you something to fly while you wait. I would not buy any of the Dilithium or Fleet Credit ships, since they are non-upgradable and Dil/FC are too valuable to throw on the ground.
Fleet Tor'khat is fierce, and if you have the Vor'Kang outfit, you can mix and match ship parts between the Tor'khat. Vor'kang and the Vor'cha. I personally like a modified Vor'cha...everything Vor'cha except with Tor'khat neck and nacelles and the Vor'kang mission pod.
I have used this ship with both beams and canons. It works well with both. With canons, it's like a chainsaw in PVE. It just eats away at a target until it explodes.

I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

now he may be correct about the mirror ships being a cheap throw away alternative. but hes wrong about the fleet ships NOT being Upgradeable. they are.
Tier 5 starships that have been omitted from this list, as they dont qualify for an upgrade, are those that fall into one of the following categories:
Starships with a Dilithium or Rank-Up Token cost
Starships that cost Fleet Credits only
Starships that are awarded from completion of an episode
Mirror Universe Starships
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
Well under KDF side my Tac LTG KDF ships not as powerful as Risan LXC - Flying Dutchman - Battleship under KDF side is the best ship I have there. Packed with enough firepower to blast those foes away for the Tier 5 ship it is.. Next to that one is the Risan CVT - Octavius - Attacker Speedship blows all the ships in that class away but I don't use that much as I do with the Flying Dutchman use daily.. These will get the update for free..
This may sound heretical, but, well... I don't play KDF tac that often. I tried one running BoPs and the experience was just kinda "meh" to me after the Fed tacs flying the Regent and Defiant retrofit, and at that point it was too late to try a raptor. So I restarted him and I'm trying out battlecruisers now, mostly because I've found a new appreciation for them and have never once owned a Negh'Var (and I'm not shelling out seven million EC for a mirror ship).
I tried the Mogh out on the last one, but I just felt so squishy compared to running the ship with my sci. The B'rel wasn't much better. Sure, squishiness is to be expected from any ship with EBC, but this time I couldn't use my sci powers to maximum effect either. I know some people have a thing against taking a Fed ship and giving its stats to a KDF clone, but right now I think my ideal KDF tac vessel would be a Negh'Var retrofit with the same layout as the Regent, including the wide-angle torp.
Admiral Katrina Tokareva - U.S.S. Cosmos, Yorktown-class Star Cruiser Admiral Dananra Lekall - R.R.W. Teverresh, Deihu-class Warbird General J'Kar son of K'tsulan - I.K.S. Dlahath, Vo'devwl-class Carrier

all hope is not lost on you . atleast your trying to play KDF. i do only play kdf and i also did not like the mogh it cant do what my tork does and is only good for a A2B setup .
BoPs are as you say squishy and it takes allot of time to learn them. i love them but i realize they are not everybody cup of tea.
and to me the negh'var sucks really its big and slow. try the Tor'kaht its pricy but a damn good ship .
and for sci if you dont like the BoP vo'quv or kamarang are well worth a try .

I was not talking about Fleet-grade ships I was talking about ships that are sold for Fleet Credits only, and as you helpfully cited these are not upgradable:
Starships that cost Fleet Credits only
These include things like the (regular) T5 Somraw, and the (regular) T5 Scourge, and a few others, that cost 200,000 FC but no fleet modules. Good ships but not upgradable, and 200k FC is a lot to waste.
Well under KDF side my Tac LTG KDF ships not as powerful as Risan LXC - Flying Dutchman - Battleship under KDF side is the best ship I have there. I have to agree with all of this, i've been using my risian corvette on my KDF Tac. It has not let me down and i even get a free upgrade too
My Ferasan flies a Xindi crab. And thanks to NoP, I also have the console from the Xindi squid too. I have it equipped with the Assimilated set, and a full load of Fluidic Antiproton. It is DEVASTATING! It seriously has become my All-Time favourite ship!
An example of what gets upgraded and what doesn't is this:
My Corsair Flight Deck Cruiser Retrofit cost me 200,000 fleet credits, it can't be upgraded. My Fleet Corsair Flight Deck Cruiser Retrofit cost me 20,000 fleet credits and 4 fleet moduals, and it can and will be upgraded.
Speaking of my Fleet Corsair, my Orion Male Tac primararily uses the Fleet Corsair, it doesn't have alot of tac bridge officers, but on my mark dovetails nicely with pets..
I've got my Gorn Tac to 50 on flying BoP's and they're a blast to fly. But my thread asking about BoP's also got me thinking, what other ships might be fun to give a go on my Tac.

My Vandal and fleet scourge get by far the most flying time. Dyson Destroyer is next.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Yeah, people bash the Dyson Sci Destroyers, but its one of the coolest ships in the game, I haven't unpacked either of mine, because the characters I had planned to use them on are aren't high enough level yet, but now that the Support Varanus is being given away for free, I might use that for one of my Characters, and finally open the Klingon one on my main character. Haven't decided yet.
Varanus is a really mediocre ship--very limited tactical capabilities, not a lot of engi stations, no cloak, no real anything going for it--which is why so few people bought it and why cryptic is giving it away now. The freebie Dyson is a much better 9-console science ship, plus that ship will get a free upgrade because it was a grind reward. BTW, I have a Fleet Varanus on my sci toon, but only because it was the only faction sci ship on that side when I was in the market for buying. Believe me, I wouldnt put any effort into the Varanus at all.
Its a secondary character, plus I like how it looks and the console that allows the Varanus to put out healing platforms that people can visit to get healing drones.
And its free ;D. I might spend 5 bucks to upgrade it.
And yeah the Dyson Sci Destroyer is better, which is why I'm more likely to keep it as a secondary ship for my main character.
I just wish the console could be used on anyship, having my pets fly by those Platform and picking up repair drones would he cool.

That's supposed to be read in Macho Man's voice, right?

... a valdore for the console and a couple of Rom toons I'm leveling.
The whole t5 thing I've been reading on and it's kept me from buying any until I see what the T6's end up being beyond the hideous first wave of them.
I've been thinking about rolling a Klingon engineer just for the big cruisers but may try one with my tac first.
