I am wondering if a Klingon dahar master will still be expected to take orders from a romulan sub commander.

Well, maybe not taking orders exactly, but in real-world militaries it is not unheard of for officers of senior rank to need to comply with the directives or regulations set forth by a lower-rank officer while they are physically within that officer's command.

That would apply to the situation you're speaking of (with the Subcommander in charge of the Solanae Dyson Sphere, right?)... it would be similar to... let's say the base commander at Miramar orders that the golf course be closed on Sundays. A visiting Admiral would then be unable to go golfing on Sunday even if he outranks the base commander. (It might be a bad example, but you get the point.)

Also, they actually do have to take orders from lower-ranking officers if the order is of a medical nature and coming from a medical officer.

maybe that way to the federation but we are Klingons. and he is not only a lower rank but a romulan to boot.

I don't see how it would be automatically different for Klingons. General Martok seemed to fit in rather well into a mainly Federation-run command structure during the Dominion War, after all...

As for the Romulan issue, well, it's a Romulan base. So imagine an American officer visiting say, an Italian military base.

martok got along fine when collaborating untill he was snubbbed by a captain and admiral at the end of the war when they no longer needed his help. but i dont think i seen them ever give him an order they often requested things though.

as for the romulan base fine next time i go there i might let him talk to me but the SOB is constantly hailing me when im nowhere near rommy space.

and remember history England is well England yet the supreme commander of all allied forces during WW2 was American so even if a British General like ole monty had Americans under his command he was under orders of an American so in reality general Montgomery was just passing along orders he was given but the details on how he accomplished those orders were up to him to a large degree.

but the real word ideas don't really have any bearing here, we are talking make believe. and i have not seen ( might have missed something) anything in trek canon to make me believe that a higher ranking Klingon warrior would follow the orders of a lower ranked alien species.

You're right, there's not a lot of Trek canon showing Klingons interacting with allied aliens aside from General Martok. However...

    1) There are a couple of episodes of TNG and DS9 where Starfleet officers are temporarily assigned to Klingon ships. True, not in command (excluding possibly Worf), but certainly there would be situations where they are addressing lower-ranking Klingons. In one case, it's even possible that they outranked the ship's Captain (Picard in "Unification").

There's also the issues surrounding DS9 (the station) itself - after all, General Martok (true) - but when physically visiting DS9 he would be under station regulations, which are set forth under the authority of Captain Sisko. I don't recall if there were any such episodes prior to Sisko's promotion, but this might bear on other Klingon captains visiting the station as well.

    2) I don't see why, in absence of other evidence, you're assuming that real world doesn't carry over. As you said with the Montgomery/Eisenhower example.

gowron ordered martok there to command klingon forces in the war. so if ordered there by his commander ( ike) sisko (monty) could as the commander of the station have him follow their rules. but he could not order him to go out on a patrol. two entirely different things.

and in the tng episodes it was an officer exchange. riker on one ship and worf brother on the other at different times. both assuming the role of 1st officer on the apposing ship. didnt matter if k\Kern was the captain on his own ship making him of equal authortity to picard or not he was there as 1st officer. so he did as pikard ordered. but if you remember he also ignored rikers advice and told him flatly if it were a klingon ship he would have killed him for the advice he offered.

then when it was rikers turn he assumed command of the Klingon ship as he was justified to do under the klingon rule book. and even though he was federation and it was all for show pikard still had to surender to him as captain of the Klingon ship. otherwise rikers new 1st officer could have killed him and taken command and engaged pikard.

edit: for unification i may need to go back and rewatch that its probably been 10 years since i seen it but i believe again it was a case that the Klingon was ordered to help pikard by his superiors ( Kempec ) at the time i believe. who also appointed pikard as arbitrator of succession upon his death. but even with all of that in the end pikard was still of equal rank as a ships captain to the other ships captains. so they were still not taking orders from a subcomander. who game play is not even available to players until they reach lvl 50 .

    Aaaaarrghhhh......thiiisss!!!^^

Him being a Subcommander doesn't bother me. Him calling me non-stop even when I'm in the bathroom is highly annoying. Especially because he closes my mailbox if I have it opened and reading messages when he wants to butt in.

I once ordered him to shut the hell up, He contacted Admiral Quinn and complained. I did not enjoy that conversation as my fed toon.

Tried to kill him as my orion toon, he ran away, contacted the high council and again got an earful.

As my romulan toon, I reported his insolence to the high command, the reply I got back was short and sweet. "Don't care, he's in charge do as he says."

You see, I have a different problem. I have a Klingon General that is nowhere near the forsaken dinosaur sphere. He's doing different things in a completely different Quadrant.
So I tell Kaol to stop calling me because I'm not going anywhere near there in the forseable future. He keeps on calling. Then I report it to High Command.....and what do they tell me?!? "Go to the sphere and kill that Romulan petaQ yourself! Qapla!" But my path isn't nowhere near there!!! :( Bah!

I tried to shoot him, he ran away. I challenged him to single combat, he said no. Trust me I'd kill him if I could, then Strauss told me it would create a major diplomatic incident we couldn't afford!

    My hands are tied.
