So about those "Undine..."

theredviola2003theredviola2003 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I fly a tac ship and I know that I'm supposed to be in a "glass canon," but it's seems that even with blowing all my CD's I can barley scratch their shields and they can 2 shot my shields before blowing me to pieces. Don't even get me started on those fluidic rifts that out right kill me because I come to a grinding hault and get pulled back into them...

But is there some special gear that I should be grinding for that makes Undine... "regular" enemies and a little less god-like?

Yes, I'm new and the STO academy webpage doesn't mean much to me because I don't understand the short hand that's used for year and stats.

The giant yellowish bubbles, nicknamed 'space snot' by some(especially me!) are indeed annoying to any ship....

The Science Bridge Officer ability called 'Hazard Emitters' will, temporarily, negate the slowing(and offset some of the damage ticks) effect of being caught in one of those bubbles...; there's little effective defense against them, otherwise, except to just stay as far away as possible! :)
When in doubt...Gravity Well TO THE FACE!! :D

You can use evasive manuvers (sp), Omega Attack Pattern, Emergency Power to engines, or deuterium to get enough boost out of the rifts and space snot bubbles.

Grind the space set from the recent featured episode, than use build info from above. If all else fails empty the clip.

Yeah I gotta wonder how fragile your ship is, I can survive them perfectly fine in my Vesta, which has a pretty fragile hull...

    Polarize hull seems to help.

On the rare occasion that I didn pay enough attention, and get caught in a snot bubble:

    Attack-pattern Omega (Any level)...

OR: Hazard emitters + Evasive maneuvers

OR: Polarize hull + hope for the best.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I'm very tank-orientated with my Galaxy Dreadnought. It's rather a mix between Traits, BoFF Skills and Captain Skills. Me being an Engineer, it helps my tanking ability with Shield Rotations, Miracle Workers etc. I've focused most (if not all) on defense and staying alive.

Therefor, I usually do absolutely nothing and stand still. Most of the time they hardly penetrate shields. Sometimes I just try to turn in place, show my stronger sides to where it's needed while I use abilities. Having broadsides and aft having the same weapon configuration. I'm quite omni-directional.

It's sometimes useless to struggle in these conditions. Some already mentioned, using all your engine abilities will help get you out, but it's rather tedious and often temporary when you do get out. You probably need to wait for the cool down in the end anyway.

My usual problem is the people that die and explode in my face. Probably the point in which to use those engine buffs.

Well I died few times in Undine elite stf. I think maybe from their Beam overloads or torpedo high yield from undine ships. They are pretty OP because they one shotted me.

What I found works best (for tac) is [no jokes] a Torpedo cruiser using 2 dual beam banks and 2 fleet quantums up front and turrets in the back for a little extra power (4xQuP consoles). Slot in three of the "overload -> X% chance of +X% shield penetration" energy weapon doffs and pair up that overload with a high yield torp volly. That will put the bigger undine ships down fast which are the problem people have with the faction (if they have any problems with the undine at all.) The kicker though is that you just won't be that capable of immediately handling swarms of escorts and cruisers.

If those are your focus just go with a standard beam-boat build or just power through with as much forward DHC power as possible. The only real trick to fighting the undine is just making sure you're gear is up to snuff (rep and fleet) and you know how to respond to rifts and puddles (ie. that you know to hold onto hazard emitters and evasive meneuvers.) You can try to take advantage of their high hull HP with torpedo builds but its not necessary to get through the elite undine PVE's (just recognize that those events are a step up from the old Borg STF's and fleet PVE's.)
