Hi all,
Yeah, yeah, I know we have peeps who like either Axanar or ST: Renegades, And I fall into the camp, that I am waiting with baited breath for both.
Anways I wanted to give a heads up, that the 20 minute proof of concept film will be available tomorrow some time.
Now I've already seen it myself, thanks to a good friend in the biz, and i have to say, I was blown away.
spoilers below...
Spoilers start here...
The Klingons take out 5 planets all for their dilithium using D6's. The Feds are gettin creamed.
Admiral Candyman raises the spirits of the Federation, and working together, they create the Ares class.
It's the first memory I have of the word "*****" ever been associated with ST.
It's a race to bring the 1701 on line , with the Klingons getting the D7 going first.
A battle to end all battles at the Axanar system, which would allow the Klingons to be within striking distance of Vulcan, Andoria, Tellarite, and Earth.
Garth of Izar is the classic reluctant warrior trope.
end spoilers here.
All in all, it is very very good, even the special effects are above average. As soon as I get word that is released to the public, I'll share a link here for my fellow players. I know this may cause some debate, so I want to point out, that this post is with optimism, over us having more trek to choose from. Heck I even expect some continuity errors, but as I understand it, It does try and tie in the Old SFB games (Huge fan and still moderator of the SFC games myself) , and the Trek Cannon we all know and love.
That being said, When I post it tomorrow, I do hope that you all enjoy it as much as I did, even if it does strike up good debate, because hey, I love a good debate myself.
@F9thRet
Edit to add link, since the second trailer is different than the 20 minute one at Comic Con.

I'm just glad your excited also, If one person is as excited as I am, then that makes my day.
Count me in the excited club as well, I've been waiting for this proof of concept to arrive
I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
As for the Axanar, I remain cautiously optimistic. It looks really cool, but none of the other fan Treks I've seen have really grabbed me.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Love all the Battlestar actors in this project!
And the trailers seemed pretty good.

Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

"Prelude will be released to the Public this Wednesday (barring technical difficulties). It will be released ONLY on our Kickstarter page. We want everyone to have to watch it there so it is easy to donate."

If I understand correctly, it will only be released on their kickstarter page here.

PW is Victory.
Enjoy.
Not a problem at all Airborne. Us Military guys have to stick together.
USMC here 86-92
That's not the trailer, that's the THING.
The 20 minute Prelude to Axanar.
Thanks!
EDIT: To be clear, the 'Prelude to Axanar' is of course actually a prelude to 'Axanar', the whole feature planned to be filmed. But 'Axanar' itself hasn't started filming yet. It should start filming depending on the reception of this 20 minute featurette.
And it's exactly this 20 minute featurette that was supposed to be released today and that we were looking forward to.

With rumors of a Space:2099 reboot, I wonder if anyone in the casting department would note the resemblance?
Roger that, Army 85 to 03 for me
Link didn't work for me, BTW. Says private video.
Holy frak, that's no trailer but the full 20 min Prelude to Axanar!
Thanks f9thretxc!
Just bare this in mind while you're watching it.
I'll definitely rewatch when it's up.
Suffice it to say, I want to fly a K't'inga in STO now. Cryptic, where's the Mirror K't'inga retrofit? Don't tell me I have to get the Fleet one or the 200k Flet credits one.

Oh I knew that going in! Just geeking out is all
actually, I initially got the same problem as alexmakepiece. Even copying/pasting didn't work. The problem was the pw was reported with a capital when there is none.
Yeah, thankfully you have more than one try. Be ingenious!

It's the 2nd video on the page!
its a risk without that drama thats come standard in star trek, the human condition and its exploration in one of the previous battles. they missed an opportunity there in their 20 minute filming. the cgi looks good, a litttle too much lens flare though, tone down the torpedo firing and explosions a little, other then that it seems alright.

Some questions raised by Prelude to Axanar:
1. At 17:30 in the video, NCC-1701 is shown in construction in dry dock. Of the 14 official Constitution class ships, wouldn't Constitution have been the first? I don't recall the source, but I seem to remember hearing years ago that Enterprise was not one of the first created.
2. I'm a tad confused by the film's expression of Federation politics at the time of Axanar.
- The Klingons fight the Federation (which should mean everyone in the Fed has their backs to the wall)
- Kharn mentions being unable to easily determine who is inside each ship, because (as the captains explain), at that time Fed species preferred to staff their ships with their own kind. (Which is consistent with the Vulcan-crewed USS Intrepid on TOS' The Immunity Syndrome.)
- But there is also an expression of independent natures: the Vulcans only reluctantly contribute to the Ares class construction, and toy with the idea of pulling out. The humans seem to be the only serious target of the Klingons, and there are discussions that suggest the war is really a human-Klingon war. Capt. Travers notes the Andorians were eager to give "us" weapons for the Ares class. As if the humans and ship construction was separate from Andoria
This doesn't sound like a Federation, a central government. It sounds like a Confederation where each state decides its own course of action, and is loosely affiliated with the others. The film shows that the fall of Axanar would pose a threat to the four main Fed species homeworlds, yet the species seem to act independent of each other?
