Anyone else bothered by the fact that they're ignoring the U.S.S. Constitution NCC-1700?
I was initially (see post #31), but mirrorchaos was kind enough to point out (in post #33) that there was a second drydock pictured with another Constitution class ship being prepared. With two in the picture, it is not hard to leapfrog to the idea that there are multiple drydocks off-screen preparing the other twelve "Connies". We may likely see more of them in the finished film.
I have to be honest, I'm just pumped to see peeps here, as happy as I am over this. Threw a few bucks at the kickstarter again myself today.
As for the Connie question, I had the same thought, and when I spoke to one of the guys about it, The explanation was that yes, while parts where built at Earth, they where then moved to Axanar for final assembly.
In a way, this makes sense. Now I'm gonna go out on a limb here as to why, and offer some private info here... Of course, it is just a guess.
We see how Garth's plan was to take the Klingons on, at Axanar.
Now, for years, I studied JKD, under Ted Wong, Even attending months of training with Joe Lewis, Chuck Norris and the like. Now this was decades ago, But one thing that stuck with me, and I was able to pull off quite well, was Attack by Draw.
AbD, is simply, you allow the opponent to think that the opening you present, is a good idea, all the well knowing , that you can easily intercept any attack.
In relation to the show, What better way to draw the Klingons, then to put the Connie right smack dab in their path to Earth, Andoria, Etc. Etc.
In many ways, It would be an excellent plan. Draw them to where you want, and intercept their attack.
Like I said, It's simply an opinion , but that was my interpretation of events.
My mother always told me to walk away from a fight, The Marines taught me how.

The news of which I find interesting. I don't find any online written record of it, but I'd been told a long time back that lore stated NCC-1701 was assembled at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards. So Axanar seems a long way off, but it should be interesting to see this play out.
SPECULATION
As to what Garth's tactic is, I'm only guessing, but I'm wondering if the attack part of "Attack by Draw" as you put it, might take a page from the playbook of Emperor Palpatine at the 2nd Death Star battle: fully operational, but otherwise incomplete units in dry dock. If this is a trap, it would be equivalent to luring an enemy naval fleet close to the big guns of land artillery support.
it's good April will be there, but not Hogan. they need a Brit actor for April, and I doubt he can fake the accent
It's a future world where a French captain speaks with a British accent. :P I'm sure Mr. Hogan will do fine.
Besides, Pond-hopping with accent changes seems all the rage in Hollywood these days. And not just from the UK. I can think of several right off: Damien Lewis, Simon Baker, Owain Yeoman, Michelle Ryan, Mark Sheppard, and Alex O'Loughlin.
I am glad to see garth, but I would have preferred to have seen Benedict Cumberbach cast in the role as Garth.. I vividly recall when I saw the first trailers for ST Into Darkness, I thought it could be Garth (after he was insane) back with a bigger, badder ship.
Kirk and Garth timelines overlapped slightly in canon trek too.
I love the TOS era, and I love the "modern" take of the TOS style of ships that Starfleet and the Klingon Empire fielded, while still giving a respectful nod to the original show.

I wonder if this will surge a revival in STO if it comes out to theaters?
(When they first released it - they were hosting it on Vimeo, where you could view the whole 20 minutes in 1080P HD, but it appears they changed it -- Still, it's a GOOD 20 minute piece regardless. Hope they manage to complete the 90+ minute feature film they're doing the KS'es for.)

They've already got nearly double what they asked for with 18 days to go. Looks like they won't have to break it up as much as they thought.
