£1500 is this really a micro transaction?...cos thats how much it will cost if you buy all the dill to speed up all of the R&D projects to lv 20....thats 271687 zen to get 43470000 dill
hell i could buy a car for this or a high end pc or every star trek episode on bluray
btw if you dont speed this up it will take you 554 days to complete
and yes before you all kick off i know you can earn dill ingame and that there is a dill "weekend" coming
Our resident Geko said in the last TrekRadio interview that everything Cryptic does is based on metrics.
So yeah. The only way to show them that RnD sucks is to complete and utterly ignore its existence.
Of course that will just mean they never touch on it again, instead of improving it. But so be it. Let it be forgotten and never talk about it again.
Guess either people not spend the money to advance it (which we all know impatient people will anyways), or it will stay this way until they decide to change it.
The best I can say, is not spend any money, and they will find it needs improving, but people are always to impatient, and they know it, so they will make money off of those people for as long as possible.
You don't need to spend money on it but it does take way too long to complete. 2 years to master it? It only took me a month or two to max out my reps.
There has to be a happy median somewhere. I would say 6 mos to 15 and then a year to max it all would be acceptable.
If they aren't going to let us run more than one research at a time then possibly reduce the research time to 10 hours instead of 20, or double the xp for the project at 20.
The only thing I see it being good for is gearing my alts as they level now.

is it so much of an issue to waste time on getting it up the old fashioned way? seriously what is it with people who want things instant instead of waiting for it? get off your horse, you dont have to waste your pocket change to do it, and you can get dil in game anyways to limit the damage as you stated yourself.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

This. There will be always people who will waste a fortune no matter what. The new crafting system is another grind, period. People who want to finish it sooner will need to actually craft items at the same time they do the 20 h exp project and waste dilithium to wipe the cooldown. As always impatient people will find other ways to gather even more dilithium for the matter, and of course zen here is important, and they will use it. In the end, it is all about $, is always the same story. Cryptic can be really bad improving the game and making dumb changes, but when we talk about generating $, they are experts.

Try crafting to leveling...
You don't need to max it out on day one...
