Only 909 days have passed since the game went F2P on January 17, 2012. There isn't a single 1000 day vet that chose to sub monthly knowing the game was going to go F2P and they'd get a monthly stipend every month.
There won't be any 1000 day vets that started subbing after the game went F2P and would get a monthly stipend for another three months. That will be October later this year.
All current 1000 day vets started subbing when the game was still subscription based and a great many started before vet rewards were added to the game in April 2010 because many monthlies took breaks and returned after a couple months off.
well he did say he just hit 1000 days a month ago and also ppl new this game was going f2p like 3 months before it did i was one of them saying stuff in the cstore would go up and it did
lifetime "Veterans"/members get a combage, borg character, and all vet awards instantly, so thats 3 benefits not 2. Sure people who played and were subscribed 1000 days now have all those vet awards. But im willing to bet all you LTS people did not buy the LTS at 1000 days, your probably bought it a couple 100 dayys in sparing you 800 days of subbing. Im also willing to bet that not everyone here has actually played 1000 days and that goes for all lifetime members.
So thats 3 benefits, the 3rd one being the most important. Sure are you awarding the people who subbed 1000 days, sure. Maybe it was a stupid idea sure. But like 1 guy said, not everyone can shell out 300 dollars up front, and maybe some want to pay the sub so that the game can last longer and possibly get better, but idk because im apparently stupid.
I really honestly dont care if you guys think my decision was incredibly stupid. All im asking is for one small small thing for paying it. I dont care if its a carrier or a 10% bonus trait or a extra trait slot or even a small unique phaser pistol or a extra character slot, I would be happy for any of these.
Will this rip off LTS people, no it wont, I dont know where you guys are getting this from. I will even add a 4th benefit that lifers have, they never have to pay a sub or pay anything at all ever again and get the same benefits gold players get for free.
So thats 4 exclusive benefits.
Was staying gold stupid. It could have been possibly. But nobody knows if it was, because they dont know WHY the person paid it. So when you say its "stupid", i assume you have a reason for why every person who paid monthly did it, and i guess it has to be stupid.
You think the reward would be exclusive for the people who has played and subscribed for 1000 days? Remember, LTS players get all veteran rewards, including everything that a Monthly Gold player would get... so your asking for something "exclusive" to the monthly sub people wouldn't be exclusive since LTS would have access to it.

Cryptic could add an exclusive costume which is limited to only players that have subscribed for 1000 days and includes any Lifer that has been subscribed for that long. The costume could be a T-Shirt that says, I subscribed for 1000 days and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt.
Sorry Cryptic didn't own Atari, Atari owned Cryptic. Cryptic isn't to blame for Atari's financial mismanagement. (Cryptic can be blamed for a lot of other stuff tho.)
Atari bought Cryptic thinking this game's IP was going to rival WoW's playerbase and they'd be rolling in the cash. You monthlies failed to generate the income they expected to get.
The lifer's not only gave STO a nice chunk of cash right out of the gate, but we also turned around and spent the money we would have spent on a sub onto C-Store purchases, and usually ended up spending more on those micro-transactions than we would have if we had been paying a sub like you monthlies.
:P
My point is it doesn't matter who's to blame for the games ups and downs (and I hear Cryptic blaming everyone but themselves, yet nothing from the blamed companies) the consumer should never been even made aware of all those blunders.
We subscribers have supported the game from the beginning. Without our money it never would have survived long enough for all those wonderful lock boxes and F2P.
Ahhh, it's nice to see the Subber vs LTSer civil war is still coming along nicely Good job everyone for sticking with the whole "all gamers are elitist jerks" stereotype.

Actually it is the everyone is elitist jerks stereotype.
This type of decision would need to be supported by marketing analysis.
If the assumption that the majority of 1k sub'ers drop to free-to-play soon after reaching that status and reduce their purchases (effectively reducing their Lifetime Value (LTV) to PWE) is true, then I could see PWE extending a heavily discounted (or free) LTS offer to maintain or increase that subscriber's LTV.
However, if 1k sub'ers tend to retain their subscriber status or increase their purchases enough to offset revenue lost after dropping to free-to-play (effectively maintaining or increasing their LTV), it wouldn't make sense to offer anything.
I purchased my LTS during Beta, so I think folks like me should receive a special reward ... an emote where we shout, "In Beta, this was better!" or some such nonsense.
