Keeping Memory Alpha

augwuaugwu Member Posts: 6 Arc User
I think that it's worth keeping Memory Alpha with the new crafting system, because it can serve as a crafting boost area to improve chance of crafting ultra rare items. Even if a boost is only 1-2% better than baseline, it's still better than nothing and keeps an extra location for players to go to.

What do you guys think?

While there would be no real negatives to implementing something like this, it will never happen.

The devs are hellbent on ditching Memory Alpha. Will there be a future update and return of that hub? Maybe, but unlikely anytime in the near future.

Some sort of crafting boost would make a redesigned Memory Alpha worth visiting.

Didn they remove memory alpha years ago?

What reason is there for it to exist?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Besides, you've heard the devs, we'll only get lost. All of those tunnels and large rooms y'know. Confusing.

I just visited Mem Alpha to buy some commodities for fleet project. Discounted from the vendor there.

Forgive me for not keeping up with tribble notes but where will this vendor go when Mem Alpha is closed?? My fleet needs A LOT of work and I will definitely need the discount commodity broker again.

I'd much rather see Memory Alpha stay with the new crafting system replacing the old one than to have Memory Alpha taken away and the DOff system UI completely ruined by the new crafting system.

I care. It was one of the zones that was always free of party amps where I could use the bank, exchange, & emails in peace and quiet.

There is still SB39 for this kind of stuff, never got disturbed there too. But of course I understand the complaints. Memory Alpha had some kind of unique layout and removing content, no matter how few use it, seems to be so wrong to me. Its the same with the exploration clusters. It absolutly doesnt matter if a game that big needs 1 or 2 GB more of harddisk space.

I guess they just want more crowded zones.

We know the commodity broker will be moved, we don't have a confirmation where just yet. In his podcast interviews, Geko said he might be moved to Drozana.

No idea. Guess Commander Romaine finally got tired of them and kicked them out. :(

If we are lucky, they would be moved to SB39 (it needs those diplomacy missions to return). Or they show up on Ferenginar (if they ever should add it).

Also, like to know if Quarantine is going away too. That was an interesting "diplomacy" mission too.

    No.

Do NOT keep Memory Alpha as a CRAFTING zone. It was NEVER an weapon R&D facility at any time in the Star Trek universe. It was a library.

So yes, keep the canon location in game - but, again, disconnecting it from crafting is a good move by the Dev team.

I agree. Don't see why they don't do like in Neverwinter. I recall that small little library that gave accolades for reading lore. Surely they could do the same for Memory Alpha with STO lore and bring back the lost Path to 2409 stuff (like the supplementals) and have it accessible there.

Even providing hints at future content.
