I changed mine to Fred G. Sanford (the G. stands for Galaxy class Dummy!) and I swear I fight myself to not call every other person dummy or threaten people with five across the lip.
When I had a dog dressed as spock as my avatar, I found myself highly logical in my responses and every once in awhile wanting a biscuit.
So...how does your avatar affect you and how you post? Or is it your signature that affects your posts?
i use the picture of the scorpi clone in crichton's head in that Hawaii shirt because it works with the forum name, in effect the neural clone is the mirroring chaos of crichton's nice neat order. but it also reflects my state of mind as equally, im an undiagnosed and strongly suspected bi-polar case, so i can jump from one emotion to the next without noticing it, so it has an effect on the forum and sometimes the effects can last months in mood swings.
of course no one cares, so rolling on through to the next thread.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Ba'al - heck yeah, Ba'al my favourite baddy. With an Ausssie accent.
Katt - well, any cat
Sadly Iconians voice is that dude from Ancient Aliens, and I always laugh. It's his Centauri haircut. But then again I have issues with the History Channel showing programs that are clearly not History, but tin-foil hat speculation. That's another topic..
I created my avatar based on an old ICE card game I used to play 'back in the day', and have used pretty much on every forum since. I certainly do not hear myself in Sauron's throaty rasp....
My voice? Hmmm..... David Hedison from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
If I'm totally honest some things about this game annoy me and I begin to type the occasional mean spirited post, but when I preview it with the smiley fish picture next to it I tend to re-think my words and re-type something much nicer.
So yes, my avatar really does affect my posts, in a positive way.
I think it's the same reason I listen to classical music when driving the car as it positively influences my general state of roadworthness. Without it I would probably just burn rubber and leave a trail of death and destruction in my wake to the soundtrack of screeching tyres and screaming pedestrians.
Are F2P players forbidden from changing their avatar? I know I have tried in the past but could not select anything but the preset options.

Hrmm, I stopped playing my original Willard the Rat almost a decade ago. Shadowbane, Rogue Assassin, Wererat Discipline...blah, blah, blah. So when I created a new Willard the Rat for LoR, Reman Sci in a Fleet T'varo, and he ended up my main - I went with the clipped image for my avatar.
I often have fantasies about wiping out the STO playerbase out of a sense of misplaced vengeance.
I get that too. It's perfectly normal.

And I happen to like a certain two tailed engineer/pilot.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!
The nut who actually ground out many packs. The resident forum voice of reason (I HAZ FORUM REP! YAY!)

My weekend experiment with the redheaded kid from Twilight Zone didn't work...course, maybe it did - never specified that there couldn't be wifi in the cornfield...meh.
My avatar is the Vulcan IDIC symbol, properly positioned to how Spock wore his on his necklace.
It's not symbolic of anything personal it just that my main toon is a Vulcan male engineer.

As for me, my Seargant Appo avatar doesn't make a lot of difference how I post. I just like clone troopers.

Only if you end every post with "right away General Kenobi!"

Yep, it's all true. Especially the lies!
I don't give a chevron about my avatar :P

You have to upload an avatar picture to select it. I'm FTP and I switched to Supreme System Lord Ba'al just fine.
I stand corrected - and didn't know he was south african. Oddly enough I've done work for companies there - should have recognized it
Yes, it does. It's obvious. :P

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
Does it affect me? Nah, I affect it.
But I was like that before my new avatar...
Not sure. Where were you in the summer of 2005?
Just kidding :P

You inspired me...so it's all your fault!
edit: Then again, I'm not sure how different this is from my last avatar...hrmm.
