Pike era uniforms?

augwuaugwu Member Posts: 6 Arc User
After seeing the available Starfleet uniforms how come the Pike era (2254)/early TOS uniforms aren't available? Seems like a strange oversight...

There are a lot of oversights. TNG Season 3+ Admiral uniform springs to mind for instance.
They just get around to crafting whatever whenever they can.

You mean those hideous beige turtlenecks from the pilot and first couple of episodes? God they were hideous!

i wouldnt go near one myself let alone caught dead in one! they just look horrible, so glad the turtlenecks were done away with. its the same with that hideous tmp uniform, all white and then the next one over before settling on something better the red jacket and black pants.

"to each his own," I favor more variety in our uniforms. If it has an authentic Star Trek theme, include it in the game. The Skant is even a viable option, and I do not favor that one at all. Yet I would love to see it in game.

Agreed. But then, some even uglier costumes are in game already, and some people seem to like them. Bump for more options I guess.

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

You can kinda come close with the current TOS uniforms if you get the colors just right.

You can also kinda do when you get the open uniform option from C-Store and then go look for Picard's undershirt without the Captain's jacket. It has that turtleneck look you can use the Cage colors on.

Wait, that Picard uni? You mean that ugly pullover turtleneck from TNG that looks like it came from a Lane Bryant Catalog?

I'd love to have the Pike era uniforms in game. They might be less 'colorful' than the TOS-onwards ones, but they seemed sturdier and more practical to me. The male TOS uniforms always seemed a bit lower budget to me, and the female ones were a bit ridiculous IMO.

I also wouldn't mind if the laser pistols from pike's era showed up in-game, though I have no idea what energy type they'd be.

if you dont like my opinion, dont state anything. im just the hypocrite you are for the same issue :P. since this is a dead issue, moving on.

i cant see how practical a turtleneck jumper is on such a hermetically sealed ship. so heat is retained, why would you need a jumper for and then when it comes to a fist fight, having that thing around your neck wouldnt be too helpful either :P.

I'd like to see these uniforms added, plus the landing party jacket, equipment belts, and dress uniforms too. My view is that if it has existed on TV or in the movies, it should be recreated for inclusion within STO.

Why are you taking things personally? I am only commenting on the fact that your opinion is exactly that, "AN OPINION." To make emphasis on the fact that all terkkies should welcome everything trekkie, and that variety is the spice of life. I used your original posting as an example for all, that people have their distinct opinion on these matters but can oversee their likes and dislikes. For the record how is liking and disliking uniforms make me a hypocrite? You walk into a store and there are things that you dislike among things you like, its a normal thing in life.

The ships aren't hermetically sealed. They use energy fields. And as seen more than a few times during the various shows, when using cargo bays and shuttle bays and repair and maintenance, people walk in and out of those fields all the time.

They also have climate control or for the techie at heart, environmental control - so they keep cool at all times. Regarding the turtle necks, it does not look appealing but as this link demonstrates, the women uniform of the pike era isn't that bad.

    22nd Century Uniforms

That being said, I still would love to see it in the Zen store just for RP purposes or even Foundry missions for that specific era.

Hello my Friends, I enjoy the foundry missions very much and would love to see many stories from the different star trek eras, Pike era among them as well. There are many talented writers in this game, and I have enjoyed many of their stories.

If it is these ones... http://ikttvs.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/ugly-uniforms.jpg Yes. :)

I think it's just the fact that they're so horribly fitted, like they went to an outlet store that only sold misshapen clothes and stuck a Star Fleet badge on them.

Take a closer look at the seems near and around their neck, it does look like patch work, almost feels rushed.

I wouldn't say the turtle neck variant isn't overly horrible and unsightly, I too would like to see it in the game, just for the sake of having it in the game, because it is star trek. Would it be my first choice? Probably not, but be nice to see different authentic uniforms in the game.
