In the recent news of the Supreme Court of the United States siding with Hobby Lobby saying that every coporation now has the right to freedom of religon.
That's outrageously ridiculous. It violates the rights of others. What if the Jehovah's Witnesses that are running a hospital decide not to do blood transfusions any more? Don't those politicians actually think about the laws they pass?
Do you know how many times in the past 4 years people have said that? "TOR is going to crush STO and there isn't going to be any players left" Yep didn't happen
"New Star Trek brower mmo is going to topple STO" It died
"ESO is far better than STO" It's having same issues sto had at launch and predictions are it'll go F2P as well..
I could keep going but I think my point is made with the above.
You overestimate the STO player base, Askray. The more vocal portion of any MMO player base will think their game is the worst, no matter what the reality is.
I believe it has to be a privately-held, family-owned corporation, not just any and every company.

But actually saying what happened wouldn't make the thread as trolltastic as it is...
I'm amazed at the number of folks that went off on it - without actually looking into it first.
Somebody should post a thread saying the Supreme Court upheld the law passed by Congress banning Strawberry Ice Cream and overturning the President's Executive Order allowing vendors to continue selling mixed ice cream on behalf of the Neopolitan Ice Cream Manufacturers of Idaho. Cause folks will all have their comments to share without thinking about it in the least...
Exactly. Plus--and I say this as a person of faith--there would be no logic in extending such a right to publicly-traded corporations, for example. A public company is by its very nature owned by people of many affiliations, whatever its officers and board might subscribe to. Whereas with a family concern, this heterogeneity rarely exists, eliminating the conflicting ownership interests you might get in other situations (in other words, "whose belief can the company be said to express in its actions?").
Given the limited scope of this ruling, this does not encompass anything like the entire job or consumer markets, by a long shot--so it doesn't merit getting into a panic over it.

Well, you are trying to compare this to an extreme. It's an issue over birth control contraceptives, not life or death. And also, if people cared what laws were passed, this nation would not be in the worst shape it has ever been.
I really liked Hammond, myself. My favorite seasons were 3 through 6. Can't watch 7 because of Heroes, but Kull warriors are awesome. Anubis is hilariously over-the-top, I laugh every time I see him. 8 was surprisingly strong after 7, the final two-parter really felt like a satisfactory ending.
Season 9 was weaksauce, season 10 was only marginally better. Continuum was woodenly-acted (watch the original Stargate movie and then Continuum, you'll be rolling your eyes in 10 minutes; Jackson and Carter in particular phoned it in) for the most part, but Teal'c and Ba'al were up to snuff, and Teal'c had the ultimate badass death scene. Ark of Truth was just sad (ie pathetic).
Atlantis was sort of OK; Ronon Dex was kickass, and I liked McKay and Keller a lot (huge Jewel Staite fanboy), but the rest was meh. The Wraith turned the show solidly from sci-fi to science-flavored fantasy. Lastlight was a decent villain, though. I wish the final battle had been against him rather than the super-hive.
Universe was really, really interesting but got cut waaaaaay too early.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't mind Hammond (and Landry isn't all that bad, either) - it's the part about O'Neill staying after being reassigned from SG-1 that I was talking about.
Well, even if Continuum and Ark of Truth weren't too good, at least they got some decent music out.
Personally, where SG-1 varies quite a bit between episodes, Atlantis was relatively uniform in quality - and it certainly had a few memorable moments. Not sure who Lastlight is, though I'm guessing it's a name from one of the books. As for the Wraith, I'd say that if you removed their feeding ability (and the stuff directly related to it), you wouldn't really find any fantasy elements in there.
Universe, however, started badly and ended badly. That having been said, it did start improving towards the end - not enough to compensate for potential SG-1 and SGA movies or more SGA seasons, but it was an improvement.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Lastlight--that was what the former Michael Kenmore called himself at least once.
Universe...I liked it. A lot. It had a very different tone, sure, but it was interesting.
SG-1 had some good ones (Children of the Gods, mmmmm Mrs. Jackson...), some great ones (that one where they beat Apophis, and the one where Anubis makes his ridiculous speech as he's invading, and "Evolution", and that one where they go back in time twice and save the world from Apophis again there at the end of season 8), and some stinkers (the one where Carter gets put in that stupid dress and treated like some tribal chief's totem in season 1, any and all episodes dealing with Ascension, and pretty much the entire Ori arc). Atlantis was generally meh but Ronon and Keller were awesome.
